Ill share a quick story: I took my Jewish mother from Queens here when she came to visit me, and she was VERY impressed. We arrived around 2:15 on a Sunday (they close at 3) and got a table within 5 minutes. The food was out of this world! We each ordered matzo ball soup, and we split a piece of sweet kugel and a corned beef sandwich. The matzo ball soup was very rich and full of flavor. And the matzo balls are huge! The soup could probably be a meal in itself, but wheres the fun in that? The corned beef sandwich is not the normal NYC unhinge-your-jaw size. Its small by Katzs or Carnegie Deli standards. Nonetheless, the sandwich was unreal. I found it to have the perfect fat/meat ratio, and the bread was tasty and crusty. Lastly, the kugel was the perfect addition to the meal. Just perfect. Confession time: I also took a piece of babka bread to go. It was super fresh, flakey, and not too sweet. I could eat that babka bread every day and be very, very happy. My mom and I were still eating when they closed, but the staff was super friendly and didnt try to shuffle us out of there. Im looking forward to heading back to Wise Sons in the near future!

Maybe not New York quality, but the best weve got in SF. And its darn good. Love the matzo ball soup (though the saltiness is inconsistent - Ive had it be nearly inedibly salty, which I kinda like, and Ive had it be entirely lacking in salt, never in the middle ground). The chopped liver is possibly the best Ive ever had, including at LA & NY delis and my Jewish relatives. Good pastrami. Good corned beef. Good smoked trout salad. Good French toast. Great pickle plate. Great chicken milanesa sandwich. The highlight of the pastrami fries is the pickle/fry combo - a revelation. But I would give anything for them to abandon the Montreal bagel. Ive had Montreal bagels before and knew I prefer salt and chew, but I still gave it a try one weekend. The lox was amazing, but man I really missed the chew of a New York bagel with it. Montreal bagels dont cut the mustard (oooh! Their mustard is really good! So great on the pastrami!) I know my Canadian friends who introduced me to this style bagel are very disappointed Im not impressed. Well, Im very disappointed in this too sweet, wrongly crumbed bagel. And is this a NY-style deli or not? Really. Really!

wise sons is my new obsession! the food is excellent and NOT just because SF is lacking in the jewish deli department. i have ordered from wise sons (through postmates) at least a half a dozen times in the past month and the food has been consistently wonderful.... the matzo ball soup is simply divine. the broth is perfection and the matzo balls are not sinkers and not floaters but a lovely medley of both. the potato latkes are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. we had the chinese chicken salad (the pickled ginger was such a nice addition) and it was delicious. lastly we had the salt bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon- all were excellent. my only complaint is not with the food but with the communication with the restaurant and postmates. for some reason every time i have ordered multiple bagels i have only received one. as annoying (and inconvenient) as it is, i would NOT traded it.....thats how good this place truly is.

My wife and I love this place, we only eat here once maybe twice a year because of its sheer expense, however you get to Craving this food, so every once in awhile you might have to go drop $40 bucks for two people and you might not be completely full, but its definitely savory and some of the best pastrami Ive ever had. I recommend the Reuben the Russian salad dressing is just amazing so I wish it were more affordable I would eat here way more often.. although its probably better for my heart that it is expensive therefore I mostly eat a vegetarian diet but this is definitely one of the top 10 pastrami houses in the entire United States so even if you only go one time you should still go that one time.

We rocked in at 11 am for brunch and there was no line. A table for two was open, but we opted for the corner of the big shared table by the window. The matzo brei was solid, like a big platter of eggs given structure by hidden carbs. A little on the underseasoned side, but I think the point is to salt and pepper it as you see fit, and then drown it in tapatio. Great accompaniment to the chopped liver sandwich, which I could definitely eat on the daily for breakfast or lunch. Sweet and savory, with the kick of offal at the end, and the potato salad side was perfect. Self-service for coffee/water and silverware is on the tables. Relaxing little place, so Ill definitely be back!

VERY DISAPPOINTED !!! OVERPRICED The cashier was rude. Then we had to wait for more than 20 minutes to get our breakfast. The order was a wrong one but they change it right away. We got a corn beef hash and a pastrami eggs, not any difference between both meats, I guess they are using a pretty low quality meat, not smoked taste on the pastrami, and the hash was cubed with all its FAT. I GUESS THEY ARE NOT SO WISE ANY MORE. The worse thing it is the price. WAY TO OVER PRICED. We pay $31 for a horrible experience. Their food Its a coffee shop food.

Enjoyed a delicious Reuben sandwich for lunch at this small corner deli cafe. Pastrami meat on rye bread with cheese and sauerkraut, toasted so that its gooey. So good! Came with a side of coleslaw or you could choose potato salad. Didnt touch the pickles (not really a cucumber pickles person). My friend had the smarts to have us avoid the lunch hour rush by meeting at 11:20am on a weekday. When we were leaving 45 minutes later there was a long line. Limited seating. Found parking 2 blocks away on an unmetered street with a 1 hour limit.

Thick cut pastrami with russian dressing and cole slaw on marble rye. I dont even need to say that it was good. You already know it was good. Also, I once bought a loaf of bread here to take to a dinner party. Everyone enjoyed it. I was hoping that the dinner party attendees didnt eat the bread so I could re-enact one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes, but that would require buying a fishing pole, as well as acquiring a fiance whose parents openly despise me. That was more difficult than just eating the bread, which was fantastic.

Breakfast on Wednesday 7/19, corned beef hash. Should have been called home fries with corned beef. Disappointing. Rye toast that wasnt toasted and a tiny plate that allowed the hash to spill over onto the table. Weak coffee. Only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the tiny, sparse, brunoise of corned beef was tasty. I actually really like this place and have been eating their food since it was a pop up at Cafe Jacqueline at Duboce and Valencia. Wont get the hash again.

Great place deep down in the Mission. They are known for their Jewish Delicatessen. The place itself looks like an apartment as their are many pictures hanging from the wall (family pictures and sorts). Some of their dishes are typical Jewish dishes which is great in terms of food variety in comparison to the typical Egg Benedict brunch you might get at other brunch places. Service was fast and very nice, overall a very recommendable experience!
