Phat Philly is by far the best cheesesteak Ive had outside of South Street. They offer great variety, authentic ingredients (kobe beef, amoroso rolls, tasty kake krimpets, cheez whiz etc), & reasonable prices. They offer generous portions and are willing to customize to get your sandwich exactly how you like it. Im a big fan of the hangover fries but Im not too keen on the beer batter cheddar (tastes kind of curdle-y to me) so would recommend substituting that out and getting whiz or something else instead. The place is small and has limited seating, and annoyingly the door is usually open which lets in a draft so its often freezing cold. Phat Philly does have 2 TVs which usually are airing some kind of sports. They do a good job offering deals on Scoutmob, Thrillist etc so be on the lookout for those. They sell beer for pretty cheap too -- draft & can. Servers in my experience have always been very friendly. They do delivery as well to nearby areas from 6 to 10:30 PM.

The food is solid. Try their custom cheddar beer cheese sauce. The fact that they dont "Philly" the place up like crazy is also a plus - no mention of the Eagles that I could see. This is a place for someone who is from the west coast and wants a steak, not for someone who wants a trip to Rocky III-Buddy Ryan-Veterans Stadium Philly. Downsides - the steak knife hits the grill in a high pitched whine that was too loud for my wife (the place is very small), and we waited about 15 minutes for our food when it did not appear busy at all. Having a few beers on tap, served actual glasses, is a bonus that propped it up to 4 stars despite the downsides.

Awesome little hole in the wall! Much better than I anticipated. I got a traditional Philly and it was quite flavorful, the only thing that could use work is the bread. It was a tad soggy due to the melted cheese. My boyfriend got a bar b q version of the Philly, tasted basically like a pulled pork sandwich. I didnt love it, but he enjoyed it. Will definitely stop by this little spot again.

My new favorite restaurant in the area. Family owned and operated. The food is fresh and delicious. The rotisserie chicken is tender, juicy, and flavorful. All their other meats are the same. The fried rice and the salad dressing really do it for me. The perfect addition to the juicy chicken. The restaurant is cute and clean. Great service. Cant complain. I highly recommend them.

Quality beef and special sauces (cheddar beer, Dr. Pepper bbq), multiple cheese options. But I just really enjoy the veggie slathered in garlic mayo. Maybe its wrong to get a veggie at a philly place, but they have multiple vegetarian options including tofu and seitan, so I dont think Im offending anyone with my order. Its just so good!

I spent four years in Philly and consumed quite a few cheesesteaks. Im ashamed to say I dont remember what they taste like though, so I cant make a fair comparison. All I can say is that the food I had here last week was delicious and good value. I will be back!

I go as far out of my way as possible to avoid the abominable "Philly cheese steak," but Ive had a couple sandwiches here and they werent bad. Truth be told, I give them three stars only because on occasion Ive watched some playoff basketball here. #warriors2017!

Highly recommend the cheese steak original and go with their suggestion of using cheese whiz. Chill workers and lots of space to sit down. Also has seating on the sidewalk using wooden benches...love it! Get a beer and bask in the sun on 24th.

Only ate here once, but I was glad I did. I have the California Philly and it blew my mind. It looks small in the package, but it is a lot of food. Its also kind of on the pricey side, so be prepared to fork out some coin, but its worth it.

Im told that the cheesesteaks here are as close as your going to get to authentic Philly cheesesteaks. All I know is that Im basically addicted to this place. The wings are pretty good, too.

Best philly cheese steak in SF, hands down. The home-made chicken strips and the fries (get them with whiz, not cheddar beer) are both great too. Wish their delivery minimum wasnt so high.

Tasty cheese steak spot close to BART, delicious waffle fries, and all sorts of Philadelphia specific snacks. A little cold and loud for eat in, but great take away or delivery place.

Good sandwiches, and great cheddar beer fries. I also like their Seitan sandwich and they have decent beers on tap. On a sunny day I like to sit at their outdoor tables.

Although there wasnt a lot of peppers with the "pepper steak" it was good food. However they keep Coca-Cola on tap unlimited refills and bottled Root Beer. Itll Do ;)

Good quality, but maybe too high quality, as the prices are more than Id like to pay. Nearly $20 for a sandwich, fries, drink. Prefer Jays, just a block away on 21st.

If youve ever eaten at White Castles youll understand how something can feel so right in the moment and so wrong a few moments later. Im just thankful for Tums.

The regular cheesesteak had so much flavor to it with the grilled onions and cheese. It costs a tiny bit more than other cheesesteak shops but worth the taste.

Meat lover sized phillys, with a secial house beer wizz sauce make it a must try. The meat quality is not my favorite, it is super shreded and well cooked.

Their beer cheddar sauce is the bomb and their free toppings bar is top notch. They do really good cheese steaks and really care about quality.

Did takeaway of the 7" sub, wasnt too special, and the bread was completely soggy when I got home (3 blocks away). Service was great though.

Maybe I am just not a Philly cheese steak person, but I just found the sando a bit dry, even when I was putting ketchup on it.
