Is it possible to overdose on sausage? One fateful evening in SF, I found out that you can. Yes, you can. When the sausage is this flipping delicious, you most certainly can. I believe the first time I went here was sometime back in 07. We were looking for some pre-lounge eats and heard about Roasmunde. We had a German tourist in tow with our small group, so I wanted to see how hed like it, compared to the good sausage-based grub from his motherland. I ordered a knockwurst with sauerkraut and grilled onions. Oh man, that thing was delicious. That nice crispness on the outside and super juicy on the inside, complemented by brown mustard and the toppings. One of the best sausages ive had. The verdict of my German friend: just as authentic and really good. Another evening, I went with a different friend. I wanted to introduce him to Rosamundes and he also had a hankering for some Russian pastries. So first we hit up Geary St. for some Russian treats... some very greasy Russian treats. We even get our fill. But we decided that were still (somehow) hungry.. so on to Rosamundes we went. We ordered 4 sausages to share: merguez, duck, wild boar, and knockwurst. I then pigged out on a level that I have never ever pigged out since. It was ugly to say the least. I experienced more than a food coma afterwards. More like clinical death via food... Yes, my friends, thats how good the sausages from here are. Although ill never ever feast like a madman again (ive lost a considerable amount of weight since then), Rosamunde still remains one of my favorite spots for grub in SF. Please do yourself a favor and order a sausage... or 2... or... 4.

We had the sausage platers, mine was wrapped in bacon, came with surprisingly good salad (it had roasted red pepper, walnuts, cucumber, carrot and crunchy lettuce, few bits of tomato dressed with balsamic mix). The beer was plentiful, varied and cheap, the ambiance relaxed-a bit of a beergarden feel, with the long shared tables. The exercise is simple, you get your order, find a table, sip your beer and wait for your number to show up on the red LED thingy. We sat with Susie and Hachiko, they were friendly table mates that were also fighting to understand what was happening in front of us. We had three dudes as table neighbors and we couldnt stop looking at them for the greater part of dinner. There is something about man taking care of babies that makes them look like they are the most attractive man youve ever seen. They kept chugging down beer and passing the happy smiley baby around, the few women at this sausage fest were just set on that particular show. None of us could figure out who was the dad, the baby seemed happy and comfortable with all three. We conspired about who was the dad, who was the uncle, we went back and forth with is for maybe an hour-getting drunk can really make you focus on random stuff sometimes. The fact that all 3 were from different etnicities made it even harder, at the end we just gave up, we asked who was the dad, and it turns out that 2 of the 3 most desirable man of Rosamunde were married to each other. They were good sports about all the attention and we apologized of course (we were ogling them the whole night).

do not order from the phone! i heard about their wait time so i called their main number to order ahead of time and pick up, only to show up on haight and get some very confused looks on their faces. apparently, they dont take orders over the phone. therefore, their phone system automatically switched me over to the mission store. totally not their fault, but i definitely know now to order on the spot. after getting everything straightened out, i waited the standard 15ish minutes along with other standing people occupying the small space waiting for their own orders. man i was HUNGRYYY and practically inhaled the food. but it still didnt live up to the hype for me. we shared a wild boar, chicken, beer sausage, and andouille. my favorite was definitely the beer sausage. it wasnt my first time having a boar "dish", and im not particularly crazy about this particular meat. everything was good but ive definitely had better hot dogs at top dog in berkeley and grays papaya in new york. maybe i had high expectations, but we should have high expectations for all of our food! im not especially impressed, and i actually dont feel that the price is cheap enough for its quality.

Good late-night food in the mission!! No Im not talking about that place catty corner - el diaria-eato. Instead go to Rosa Munde and chow down on any of their super delicious sausages. Lamb with fennel, chicken with mushroom truffle, these are not hot dogs! I dont even like hot dogs. The bread is great and the sausages are slathered in fried onions. At $6.50 its priced as it is - upscale. I tried one of the specials and my friend rocked one of the classics - the beer sausage. Mine was better but both tasty. They even have Vegan options if you want your farts to smell terrible and make babies cry. And did i mention the beer list? It is dope! They have everything and its on tap. Again, they are priced upscale at $7-9 bucks a beer. But if youre just gonna have one, might as well make it good! The fries were good, but certainly not a necessity. Ladies: come earlier in the evening as a place this high class tends to close before the riff raff show up to hump your leg and vomit on your shoes.

Wowza! I did not know there was a place dedicated to sausages in The Mission. Hooray for this place! I love the vibe, its very laid back with picnic style benches for seating. They have to order food and beer at the bar. I really liked their selection of sausages. They had some really unique flavors. The topping options are also really good! The beer selection wasnt as large as I would have liked but they are in a small space so that makes it hard to carry a huge variety. This is a great spot to come with friends. Not a super good date spot though because it is really loud inside and they play some hard rock music. Ill be back for suresies!

We take everyone who visits from out of state here! Its a great bar with a wide variety of sausages. My favorite is the Hungarian, or if Im feeling adventurous (and if they have it) the rattlesnake and rabbit. Go-to toppings are sweet peppers and chili; they have the best chili. The fries and German potato salad are great sides too. They have LOTS of beer to choose from, a lot of it on tap. The cashiers are very knowledgeable and helpful if you have questions or cant decide what to get.

A great lunch spot and Ill definitely be coming back! Had the beer sausage and fries, both of which were great. Be sure to try the wasabi dijon mustard on your sausage and garlic pepper mayo for the fries! Also, they have some of my favorite German beers on tap, which is a huge plus. I have to dock one star because they only take cash (although they do have an ATM on-site) and the kitchen was a little backed-up when I got there, but that wont stop me from coming back again!
