The food here is just fine. I got a side of mac and cheese which was creamy, gooey and delicious with pieces of bacon. My wife got the chicken Parmesan over pasta, HUGE serving. I got the fish and chips. Crunchy, light, and the fries were delicious. What was the issue? Possibly the worst service ever. I really dont rate a place on service because I dont think an owner should be penalized for one server who happened to have an off day. But this seems to be bred behavior. We walked in and the hostess asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. We declined and asked for a booth and she said to walk ourselves back and someone else would seat us. We walked back and there was a second hostess who asked if we want a table, or a booth. We said booth. She asked if a half booth was OK. We asked for a full booth. She said shed have to open a new area if we were to do that and asked again if a half booth was alright. Im not there to fight with a hostess, so sure, well take the half booth. We sat down, no menu, no water, for 12 minutes. I was kind of ready to just go back to my hotel and order room service and drink myself into a coma. But we were there already, in this dark, back room, which otherwise would have been relaxing and calm. But as the seconds turned into minutes, and we didnt even have a menu to look at, I began to become annoyed. In the meantime another family came back and asked for a booth, and the hostess told them there arent any booths to have and sat them at a table in the middle of the restaurant. The children complained, the hostess didnt care. The wife of this same family walked to the bathroom in the back and saw open booths. She asked the hostess if they could move back there and she told them the area was closed. And the woman looked at her and said that she saw people back there eating and there were 4 open booths. The hostess just shrugged and walked away. After 15 minutes, our server finally came and brought us water and our menus as he incessantly played with the buttons on his shirt. He went and brought menus to the family and they asked again if they can have a booth and the server directed them to speak with the hostess. They said the hostess wouldnt help them, and he replied that if the hostess couldnt do anything for them then he couldnt either. Back to us, 7 minutes later, he returned to take our orders. By this time an older gentleman had been seated next to us for 10 minutes with no menu or water either. He began shouting to any server who could hear him, which was nobody. Ignored by 3 different people. After 25 minutes, our food was brought out, and it was good, which is why Im offering two stars instead of one. Kind of a crappy last meal in the bar for us.

I needed a restaurant that would accomodate six on a Saturday night during the height of the holiday season and within walking distance of the Post Street Theatre. I found the Daily Grill using CitySearch and Yelp. The reviews were good - chicken pot pie is one of my favs and the reviews mentioned it. I called to reserve for 6:30 pm. They suggested 6:15 pm if we had a show to attend. We arrived at 6:20 pm and they sat us immediately. Cocktails were prompt and decent sized. Butter nut squash soup started well. The chicken pot pie was tasty - the plentiful chunks of chicken were moist and fresh; not over-cooked. Other orders at our table were for meat loaf, pork chop, salmon (special of the day), and roast chicken. Reviews for the meat loaf and roast chicken were only fair but, the salmon and pork chop were very well received. We finished leisurely at 7:40 pm and walked around the corner to the theatre for our 8 pm show. The ambience is great, service swift but not pushy, and overall, the food extremely good. It was a perfect night. Ive walked by this place many times without noticing it. Now I will keep it in mind for any time Im near Union Square - whether shopping or going to the theater.

I dont know what happened to this place, this used to be my favorite place to stop by and get a drink and enjoy a dessert, but as of late they have changed management but for the worse. On more than one occasion Ive tried to place an order to go at the bar just to be ignored by the bartenders. On Tuesday 11/3/15 my wife and I decided to give them another try and sat at the bar. We waited a long period of time to be knowledge. When we finally got greeted the bartender seemed to be upset about god knows what, he was totally rude, other guests seating next to us said they experienced the same rude type of service. I know being a bartender can be a little challenging dealing with some difficult patrons but you should never take it on other guests specially to someone who is a regular. I guess for a young bartender he still has to learn on what customer service is all about. Im done with this place, I will never come back or recommend it to any one else. You can get better service at a hot dog stand.. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE

Worst experience ever. We walked in and waited over 15 min for the waiter to come. My husband ordered a strawberry lemonade and a burger, I asked for ribs and he told me that the dinner menu starts in 15 min and that he will come back so I can order. I asked for a straw. It took 45 min for the straw, my husband got his burger and not the drink. We asked for the drink and we got it 15 min after that. I never got the straw. 30 min pass by and I still havent ordered, I asked him to come back and give us the check and that I no longer wanted to eat here. He came back and gives us the bill without even apologizing. DO NOT EAT HERE.

We were a group of 12 with 6 children, ranging from 2 to 13....We were seated comfortably at a table, and the service was outstanding! Our waiter listen to all the kids as they put together what they wanted, which went some thing like this. I want the hamburger with out the tomato or lettuce, our server said you will get it just the way you want it..... another 12 year old said i want penne pasta with butter, he got just what he wanted! Seems like no one under 13 wanted anything like was on the menu. Food was tasty...and we were all served at the same time. Would recommend to any one! Felt the drinks were pricy...

Disgusting service!!! Sitting at the bar area, I ordered my second bloody mary and the waitress tried to serve me a drink that was returned from another table. I notified the waitress I was not going to drink it, and she said, "I can make you another one, if you really want?" The bloody mary remained on the bar for another 10 minutes before she dumped it out. Luckily, no other customers ordered this cocktail. I really expected better service and standards from Daily Grill. Otherwise, the food was great.
