Monday night in the financial district and we tried Quince at the last moment. Note: you need to leave a credit card number for a reservation and you will be charged $25 on a cancelation--first time in SF for that ! Despite the reviews--I had no waiting and our Table was ready when we were. The bar area is quiet, plush, with couches and lounge chairs for waiting in addition to the bar. The upholstered chairs, heavy curtains, and carpeting serve to quite the large restaurant, but tables are well spaced for conversation and the bar area is nicely separated from the restaurant. Very pleasant indeed-- a quiet intimate atmostphere despite the size of the restaurant. Service was impeccable--waiters seemed to be everywhere but not intrusive. The menu was a mix of ala carte and fixed priced menus. Figure on spending $85-125 per person for pris fix. We settled on a four course pris fix selected from the ala carte menu. The food was delicious with the now typical arrays of foams and sauces ! Intricate flavorings of seasonal fair, beets, crab, english peas, squash, mushrooms of various varieties etc. Portions were moderate to small--with most dishes (appetizer, pasta, entre) of an equivalent size. Service was excellent --attentive but not intrusive--no one "pushing" the wine and dishes coming at just the right pace. This is really a place for special occassions and reminded me of SRUCE. The cheese selection for dessert is truly not to be missed with overly generous portions given--somewhat surprisingly at the end of the meal. Pick this place for an intimate celebration especially for those that love exciting and unique presentations of California flavors and food.

A wonderful experience highlighted by excellent service. We went there for the Valentines Day tasting menu and had high hopes for a great time based on previous reviews, 2 Michelin stars, and images of the restaurant/food. With these high expectations, its easy to be let down but even though we were one of the last couples to be served (a series of courses that had been done all night) the service was still fresh and the food was presented so beautifully that I forgot my expectations and was just swept away. This is what you want from a restaurant of this caliber. The interior was also far better than the Google interior images show. The layout of the seating and bar location has changed so that the tables have more separation which allowed a more intimate feeling at the table. The decor, lighting, and color palette are also very rich and romantic. I had wine paired with the meal and being more of a craft cocktail man, its a smart call for me to let an expert choose the pairing. I was amazed at how well each pairing complimented each other. I also got to try wines that I never would have chosen for myself. The king crab with the Sauvignon, the tortelli with Bourgogne Blanc, fantastic! If this is your last meal ever, or your first with someone special, youll be hard pressed to find a better end or new beginning. Or if you just want to share an amazing evening with someone, this will probably exceed your expectations.

Our party of 6 didnt have the best experience at Quince for a few earnest and legitimate reasons - but that happens... and that is neither here nor there. What does matter is that management contacted me - *me*, a random, unimportant guy - to talk about my experience. It wasnt damage control, panicked curiosity, nor was it marketing - it was genuine concern for our experience, & why service was off that night. He had mentioned a few good points I had made, and they even took some of my comments and changed some things. I am happy to have a less than perfect experience that is worth around 3 stars (expectations, obviously, are high), but its *obviously* a fantastic restaurant if management is so engaged, and cares this much. I was impressed they reached out to talk, and as someone who only wants to be fair, I upgraded the star rating to reflect my feelings about the overall experience. This level of sophistication and elegance is somewhat rare in SF, and its why Quince is at the level it is at. Sometimes you have to have a bad experience with a business to give them a chance to show just how unbelievable they are. As overwhelming as social can be, their GM Paul is an impressive, dialed in, excellent manager. Cheers to Quince!

It was a fantastic start to our food tour in San Fran/Napa Valley. The staff was exceedingly attentive and spot on. The General Manager, Matt Cirne, was uncommonly generous with his time with us. He shared an excellent list of cocktail bars as well as other restaurants we should consider while our journey through San Fran and Napa Valley, and we could thank him enough for it. The restaurant unexpectedly arranged for us to experience a course in the Kitchen, which made the occasion even more memorable and special. The food was creative and exciting to see and eat. Just as important was the pace of the meal, which was also spot on. Its a negative when you have to wait 10+ minutes in between each course as the dinner can drag out, which is a double negative if youre feeling hungry between each course. Quince set the bar high for our food tour, which included TFL, Atelier Crenn, Manresa, and The Restaurant at the Meadowood. Quince is a must goto restaurant.

We were treated to a lovely dinner last night -- and what a place for a birthday celebration! My husband, sister, two of our friends, and myself (all self-proclaimed foodies) thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Quince! Every person (and there were many) involved in our evening was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food was fresh, innovative, and creatively paired and presented! Our wines, chosen by our waiter, were exactly what we wanted and complimented our four course meal. The standout dishes (if we had to pick!) were: Cauliflower velouté - lobster stuffed morel mushroom; Agnolotti dal plin - traditional Piedmontese filled pasta; Alaskan halibut - spring shallot with orange vinaigrette; Coconut sorbetto marsh white grapefruit and tarragon. If you have a special occasion in the next few months, I suggest you plan in advance to get a table here! Thank you to everyone at Quince for making my birthday one I will never forget!

Chef Michael and Lindsay Tusk “work magic” nightly at their “downright phenomenal” Downtown destination where “beautifully presented” Italian-French tasting menus showcasing Northern Californian ingredients are paired with a wine list filled with “cult favorites”, while the staff "takes care of every detail"; yes, it’s all "very pricey”, but ultimately its “everything you want in a fine-dining experience”, especially now that a recent remodel of the “posh” setting (not reflected in the Decor score) introduced a chefs counter, two private dining rooms and a champagne bar and lounge with à la carte offerings. Learn more about Quince. What to order Tasting menus only Caviar menu (pictured) Insider tip: Theres a vegetarian "Garden" tasting menu as imaginative as the regular tasting menu, as well a salon offering à la carte dishes priced between $14 and $38 for walk-in guests.

We decided to finish our Cali tour with Quince. Starting from calling and making a reservation was the best customer service. We needed to catch a flight after dinner so they accommodated our luggage. Then when we started our dinner, this place was out of this world. The food is so good I cant explain everything because it will ruin the experience. Having the unknown is what truly makes it worth it. Going into the restaurant knowing that your going to be taken care of and enjoy every moment of it. I highly recommend for going for a special occasion, going to try probably the best Michelin star(s) restaurants and you will need to come here once in your life. The authenticity of the food and preparation of the cutlery and plates, to bringing our luggage into our Uber driver, is just a glimpse of what is to be expected. Highly recommend it!
