Eh, it was okay. My husband and I spent 5 nights at Humphreys for our babymoon in Dec 2011. One of the main reasons I chose to stay at this hotel was the reviews, which seemed to really praise this hotel. It was okay. It was nice to stay on Shelter Island. The rooms were nice and large - but extremely noisy. I was woken up nearly every morning by someone rolling their luggage down the stairs (no elevators) or along the sidewalk outside the window. We could hear the TV in the room next door. The restaurant food was very expensive and very bland. The view from the restaurant was awesome - but thats what youre pay for -- we had 3 separate meals at the restaurant and the lounge and each time the food was very sub par. I would look into staying at the other hotels on Shelter Island. We wouldnt stay there again. We did not have a room w/ a view of the marina or the garden... we were able to get an "upgrade" which just moved us farther down the parking lot. Oh and the "concierge" was very rude and not helpful at all!

I was impressed with the caliber of service, from beginning to end. The staff was very friendly and professional. The restaurant had a classy and elegant ambiance, yet very comfortable and not "stuffy". When making reservations, which I recommend, request a window view if you like looking out at the boats and Marina. Very nice! The food was delicious. They have a diverse menu from scallops, steaks, to a gourmet burger. You cant go wrong with their steak. It melts in your mouth its so tender! Pair your meal with a nice glass of wine or a Iced tea, then comlete your meal with a nice dessert, you cant go wrong here! Their chairs are so comfortable you feel like your dining in your living room! Its hard to leave! They do have dancing next door on certain weekends, if youre so inclined and want to work off your meal, or simply enjoy the music. Theres no cover charge for dining customers. I highly recommend Humphreys for a special place to dine in San Diego.

I have Parkinsons Disease. My hands shake a lot and my walking is impaired. I purchased one drink at the bar and was on the way to my seat. I am an IBMA member and spoke at length with one of the band members. However on returning to my seat, I was told by one of the HUMPHREYS staff that I had to leave because I was impaired due to my gait or walking due to the Parkinsons, and interpreted it as drunkeness. I flew 2200 miles to see this show, paid $150 for ticket, $160 for hotel and over $600 for flight. I showed them my IBMA card and my disability card to three people all of which made no matter. This s the worst venue i have ever been to. The staff were rude had no compassion. I will never visit this venue again. I will notify the Americans with Disabilities and the Attorney General of California about this experience, After showing them my card stating i had Parknsons Disease, they had no compassion or care in the world. Out,ye must go!

I saw "Feist" here on 07/22/08. The show was spectacular, but the venue completely SUCKED. Security guards were incompassionate and rude. The "chairs" are Wal-Mart specials which can barely hold a 50 pound child. If you are even slightly obese, forget about buying tickets here, you will not be comfortable. The plastic lawn chairs are tied together so your legs are pressed-up against your neighbours. Your only recourse is to buy the lavishly expensive "dinner show" tickets in order to get some space to move around. I will NEVER, EVER-EVER-EVER go there again. EVER.

The service was impeccable both times I went during my two week visit. The views spectacular... I got a table right on the water the second time, which actually DID make a large difference - so if you can wait, or go right when they open, I would try to do that. I think there were different chefs each day, because everything was slightly different. Mimosas were $6 each, but oh so good. Oh! The coffee was excellent. I had a chicken/sausage omelet, which was better the first time around (although the second time was still good).

We drove 40 minutes to have a romantic dinner, we thought we had entered into a fish market. The noise level is worst than a sport bar. Food is a major disappointment, the lamb rack was under cooked and has to return to the kitchen. I dont believe it was served over a bed of lama beans and tomato paste. I am not a chef, but come on. Then the short rib was so dry without marbling, it tasted like pot roast from Home Town Buffet. Am I coming back? Not. I forgot to mention the Lobster bisque, thumb up.

From the unbearable elevator music played way too loud (Kenny G and worse) to bland foods and even several pieces of brown/ wilted or rather almost rotten arugula in the salad (they were kind enough not to charge for it), this is not a place you want to go for lunch. The view of the marina is nice and for a split second you think of your recent vacation to the Mediterranean. Then you turn around and look at the food and almost want to cry.

Facility is first rate, food was reasonably priced and delicious. Waitstaff couldnt have been more attentive and gracious. Manager stopped by to inquire about our experience and found we were from out of town. Before dessert was served he relocated us to a table by the window where we watched a dazzling display of light dance off the water. Thank you Mr Ennis for a most memorable experience.

Was here for Valentines weekend and had an incredible stay. The pool and hot tub are great! The breakfast restaurant is delicious! The rooms are a little less luxurious than you may imagine them to be. We werent there for a live concert, but I can imagine that is an incredible experience too. Loved being on Shelter Island. Great views of the city and bay.

I went to a concert here and the atmosphere was awesome. I walked in and thought i for sure have to come to more concerts here. However, after 15min. I thought my back was going to break. The chairs are so terrible. I wont be going back. Extremely disappointing because this place is real cool but the back pain is so terrible it just isnt worth it.

Dinner only review: Good service, VERY good food. Really courteous and busy staff... I didnt like that there was nowhere to put my purse after we were seated. Seemed casual but kind of romantic at the same time. The the soup was delicious, salmon was perfect (flaky with that glazed crispy side), and I wanted MORE crème brulee.

Very Nice Restaurant, but a bit pricey for what you get. It was clean as a whistle and quite elegant. I believe there are better values throughout San Diego, which are a better value for your money. During these times of recession one would be better served to find a restaurant with value rather than luxury.

Beautiful restaurant with beautiful views! Im simple, I ordered a burger, which was delicious! My friends enjoyed their meals & our dessert was lovely too. The service was one of the best Ive experienced. I didnt get our servers name, but I want to thank her for my bday dessert!
