We parked by the Kona Kai looking for a waterside place for a glass of wine and ended up having dinner. The location overlooking a marina is spectacular and the service was great. What impelled us to dinner was the butternut squash ravioli, which I have to say was one of the most delicious entrees I have ever had. The staff were also very attentive and friendly. We finished up with a great key lime pie and creme brulee. What ruined the ending of a great dinner was finding on our bill an unexpected 3.5% surcharge ostensibly for paying the staff the new state minimum wages. This surcharge was hidden on the menu in tiny type in a bottom corner of the page. This is simply deceptive. The restaurant could not explain why they didnt simply adjust their prices. After we complained, they removed one of our desserts from our bill. Nice, but the whole nonsense makes us think whether we ever want to patronize a restaurant that deceives its customers.

Underwhelmed is an understatement. Our service was slow and the restaurant wasnt that busy. We had to ask the manager for more beverages. The food is pretty pricey but not horrible for waterfront in San Diego. You truly are paying for the ambiance and location because the food wasnt that good. The best thing we had was the free bread and the $9 side of truffle parmesan fries. We were a large group and everyone tried each others food. We had the lobster Mac and cheese (eh, Ive had better) short rib (decent) scallops (okay) brussel sprouts (literally just fried brussel sprouts with a mustard dipping sauce) shrimp (super plain, 4 in an order and $14) artichoke ravioli (actually pretty good) and lobster slider ($8 and tiny). I really wish we would have gone to one of many other delicious places on Shelter Island. I guess if youre staying here it makes sense to eat here but Im a local and I cant see myself coming back here to eat.

I use to come here all the time. Ive missed it very much. It was great to come back and bring friends. They were very happy with the food and service. We enjoyed salads, the flat bread with mushrooms and arugula, my favorite Rueben slider, and beef slider. My husband and I shared all this. I was trying to get all my favorites in - lol! While still being tempted by other items. Our friends both ordered salads, mussels, and actually I forgot what someone else ordered. Oh well! I do remember he ate it all and they both will be coming back. I was happy to see the same manager, who is very nice and does an amazing job as well as our favorite bartender. She has always been one of the kindest people and remembered us :). Look forward to another visit.

If the staff werent so friendly, I wouldve given one star. I was sat down at 9:00 PM, with no server in sight until about 15 minutes later. I ordered truffle fries and a reuben slider, both extremely simple and shouldnt take long to make. After about 30 minutes, my food finally comes out... cold. Cold, soggy french fries with little truffle oil, sugary ketchup clearly out of a Heinz bottle, and a Reuben with a soggy bun and cold meat. After the incredibly slow service, I didnt even bother complaining-- just paid the bill and left. Hope you have a better experience.

We were there on Christmas Day with our three small children who were being surprisingly well behaved. This could be a long drawn out story so Im going to cut to the chase - the food that we actually got to eat was phenomenal. One of the waiters was great though service in general was sort of hit and miss but in the end the management went way above and beyond to make up for any issues we had and in the event that we ever end up back in San Diego Id be absolutely willing to give them another shot - maybe without the kids.

Good food with great views of the bay and the Point Loma hillside. I had the octopus and the mushrooms and they were both very good. I drank a long island iced tea and it was made just right with plenty of alcohol. Our server was excellent and kept on top of food and drinks without being disruptive to the flow of the evening. I highly recommend this restaurant as a relaxation spot. 2 people with alcohol about 130.00 on 7/14/2017.

The food was good but unremarkable. The service was excellent. Be warned if you choose to sit inside. The acoustics are terrible which makes it obnoxiously noisy even when the place is less than half busy.

Dont go here unless youre staying here! They are pretentious, rude and assholes. We literaly did nothing and they refused to serve us. what a joke! All they said is we cant serve you! BS comment!

Quiet, on the waterfront, good service. Small lunch portions, you need a few to fill up. Very clean. Hard to find!! Behind the hotel.
