Nearly as good as the SF location, and about 1/10th of the wait time. Ordered the cookie crisp sundae (forgot the exact name but we added bananas with it), and it targeted, fired at, and completely obliterated the spot. Ultra rich (you can either have a dessert or all your meals today) but this is to be expected. No joke, if you die here of a sugar overdose (not unlikely for the faint of heart), it is a rule that you are instantly allowed into heaven. In fact, I may have even visited the place while I was here. The fact that its in an old theater building makes it even cooler. Of course, if you come here expecting some trendy B.S. granola and subpar NSA frozen yogurt product, like all the trendy people do these days, you may not get the same experience. This is not the place you go to so you can text your friends afterwards about how you "totally like lost 5 pounds this month so its OK that I cheated on my diet because Ill just eat my carb free grass clippings and good intentions diet for the next 2 years, or until I make an exception again, whichever comes first". If you go here, own it! Savor it. Life Pro Tip: People who give this place less than 5 stars are missing the point entirely and are not to be trusted.

One of the few places that have a physical Ghirardelli store aside from San Francisco that I been to, so of course I went into buy something cold and sweet after our brunch. I do like the free chocolate sample that they always seem to provide you when you come into the store which is a plus, and of course who can forget those matching outfit that the workers wear which makes me feel like I went to the past. The price is a little steep, as always here, for the items we order which was basically a banana split ice cream and a different ice cream sundae. Just a nice, cool place to relax and the décor were cool. They have lemon water so at least that is free too and can be used to be calculated in the overall cost.

Rotten Dairy!!! That is what I was given! I had been craving a cocoa float for about two weeks. I go and purchase a cocoa float and take a giant sip, just to gag and throw up!! This is ridiculous! We talked to the manager and his explanation was they were using the same hot chocolate they had served others throughout the day. Who knows how many people had a hot chocolate that had gone bad. As a remedy all we got was a refund and a coupon so we can try them again. (After this experience, who knows) Then we talk to the area manager and he couldnt have been more rude!! My advice be careful when you take a big first sip of any drink at this ghiradelli because you do not want to get food poisoning.

I have done few things correctly in my life, because most of my time is spent complaining on the internet, or commenting on things that dont really matter. But when I say that a hot cocoa ice cream float was sent down from heaven from virgin Italian nuns, I am only being slightly hyperbolic. The rasberry sorbet is cool, refreshing, and sweet. The ice cream is good quality ice cream, and I wish it was hand made, but it is quite good. Its good enough to make me almost like mint chocolate chip, but we all know that mint and chocolate are not to be in the same room, let alone combined in ice cream. Its like those fruit mint icebreakers, what are they thinking?

This is a San Diego original; its been here before all the gentrification in the neighboring communities, before the micro breweries and hipster eateries. People love this place because it has that "All-American" charm of a traditional ice cream parlor, and its in the heart of the Gaslamp. This is a fun place to visit downtown, especially if youre in a group (This is a perfect post-Comic-Con spot.) or if youre a tourist or a little kiddie with a big sweet tooth. Or an adult who loves sundaes. Its not the best ice cream at all, however. I tried it once or twice and have never recommended it to friends. Häagen-Dazs out of a pint is better ice cream.

This is one of our favorite places to come for a brownie sundae. Weve come during mid-afternoon hours when its not busy. The place is clean, they give you a free chocolate sample, the price is a little steep. But we were on vacation so splurging on brownie and ice cream was okay for us. The staff was friendly. The brownie sundae tastes just as amazing as the first time we tried it 3 years ago. Such a delicious treat. Its a fun touristy spot for a chocolate lover.

I believe this is the oldest Ghiradeli store in USA. Other than the obvious huge collection of chocolates they had a very good choice of icecreams. I opted for the one with mango ice cream with chocolate sauce topping. The cone was much bigger than the ordinary cones. I believe it costed almost 10 bucks. But, it was the best mango ice cream i ever had. The cone had the perfect mix of crisp and sweetness to complement the creamy mango icecream.

Visiting Ghirardelli is one of my favorite spots in San Fran so you can imagine how happy I am that we have one in San Diego. Nice size place with plenty of seating. Ice cream is amazing of course. I coming here in the winter when it nice and cold so I can get a big chocolate chop cookie and salted hot chocolate. They have a small store where you can purchase chocolate to take home for later! The outside of the store screams "Come On In"

walking into the place, you could smell chocolate in the air. We didnt stay long, because it was pretty busy. So Im sure this place was great. It was so busy on a Thursday night that we couldnt even get in the door. We decided to go somewhere else. Taking a look at their menu it was $14 or $15 for a sundae, and I didnt want to pay that just for dessert. Even though it was probably pretty ding-dang delicious.

I got the salted caramel hot chocolate and it was really good. They lose a star for the chocolate squares because I prefer smoother creamier Belgian chocolate and I grew up with dutch chocolate. Ghirardelli is really good for American chocolate. Service was good not great but it was Halloween. I wasnt interested in the free chocolate only because it was pumpkin spice.

Our first time at Ghirardelli Chocolate...and absolutely loved it! We ordered the espresso sundae?...OMG! We both loved it as it was not the typical sugary, chocolate sundae we normally encounter. It was smooth, creamy, and luxuriously rich in chocolate without, again, being sugary in its taste. Will definitely return! Thanks for the awesome dessert!
