Well be aware prospective customers that says a lot on how UNPROFESSIONAL and DISRESPECTFUL these kids are. Especially when Nick stated "you treat all our customers with respect" but in the last statement he admitted to make fun of us Huuummm that sure said it all. No kidding ice cream melts but it shouldnt melt once you give it to us. We dont eat a lot of ice cream it was a nice day and the school have ended for the semester. We decided to treat our kids for an ice cream for the hard work theyve done at school. So you explain on why Cold Stones doesnt melt how about other ice cream shops???? Well I guess you are the cheapest ice cream shop as you stated so I get what I pay for which explains a lot on your ice cream which isnt much. As they say you get what you pay for. Cheap price cheap quality. **** wow. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 By Nick - Aug 10, 2010 I have been an employee of ridgefield ice cream for three years and i find the comment below disturbing. we treat all our customers with respect and have the cheapest prices and best tasting ice cream in town. all of the kids who work there are in college and trying to make money for an education. ice cream melts and the only reason coldstones does not is because it is made with gelatin. and to the customer you obviously eat way to much ice cream and we probably did make fun of you for a comment like "its melting" its ice cream duh. * Ridgefield Ice cream shop run by bunch of immature kids We had a very bad experience with the kids that run this place. They dont treat the customers with respect but they rather make jokes about a PAYING CUSTOMERS. I was getting a soft serve on a cone and the ice cream was just melting/dripping on my hand & arm. I understand it was a humid day but it shouldnt start dripping once they give you the cone. I didnt have a problem when we go to other ice cream shop(just to name a few...Cold Stone, Dairy Queen and Carvel). Its ridiculous then they have a MAJOR problem with their refrigeration system. I decide to get a different ice cream that will not drip on my hand. They went ahead and gave me what I requested but of course with some unprofessional comments. They should FIRE all those kids that dont treat customer with respect especially a PAYING CUSTOMER. It was our FIRST and LAST time I will take my family there. I will go to Carvel, Cold Stone or Dairy Queen from now on because at least they will treat you with respect and their ice cream will not melt once you get them.

I have been going to Ridgefield Ice cream for over 40 years..when I was a kid with my parents and with my kids when they were little.. for birthday cakes so many years..I went this evening with my sister who had broken her leg and had major surgery and this was her first time out since January..I ordered 2 ice cream sundaes with nuts and whipped cream..that simple sorry I said large..the girl asked me on and off 3 times what I wanted, that truly was just part of the problem I asked if she knew what she was doing and the Red headed guy said yes... she put 2 small servings of ice cream in and asked me again what I wanted she finally finished and put whipped cream on it didnt even reach the top of the container, I asked is this right is it suppose to look like this the red headed guy said yes this is a large.. so I paid the 10.00 I didnt feel like arguing any more there were kids and familys...I got to the car put my spoon in looked all around there was no hot fudge.... I was so angry now I really never get mad, but I just felt like an idiot after asking so many times.. He said she knew what she was doing ..so I took it back and the guy says whats the problem I said Im sorry there is no hot fudge in these...so he squirts 1 squirt of chocolate in each and hands them back to me..by this time they looked disgusting I said I just want my money back he said whats wrong ..I gave him back the sundaes He says to me whats the problem the girl is new cut her some slack. Ok just give me my money back ...he argued with me, which is so unprofessional I would never do it in my business... he says I should have charged you for the hot fudge..WHAT..he should just have replaced them the right way. but no he had to show he was boss I finally told him keep them and the money and left and went to carvel in Ridgefield where they were so nice and the ice cream was double the size for less.. I really wished I could talk to the owner... Im sure there are adults that will do a great job and will be respectful to there guests..The end is the experience just made me feel really bad for my sister...They lost a great customer and well how good I felt about going there since I was a little kid.. Not may businesses are left ...

I never had a bad experience there. Went somewhere else in town and paid close to ten dollars for two cones(no complaints-the ice cream was great). Maybe the ice cream melted faster there because you are eating it OUTSIDE not in air conditioning! Any way -it tastes great! Their soft serve chocolate -chocolate dip cones are my favorite! I never had bad service there but have had less than stellar service other places. Many kids that age are somewhat apathetic most anywhere you go. It takes some time and experience to learn responsibility and how to work. They cant all ways handle difficult customers or busy times especially when they are new. Im happy to see a business owner who is willing to take local kids under their wing and give them jobs and an opportunity to learn. That said, I dont think I would have taken out my frustrations on the kids working at the shop. I would have called the owner and let him know what was up. Im sure he would give an apology and credit for the ice cream. Some people are just difficult but once they know you are there to please them, they calm down. Im ordering my daughters birthday cake there now!
