After reading many great review about this place, my wife and I decided to give this place a shot. We drove approximately 70 miles to this joint to a place. We arrived a bit late around 2:30 pm. We took the front desk lady advice and decide to pre-order our food so that we could start eating before the resturant close for the afternoon. Here is how it went down: We sat there for more 30 mins waiting for our food coming and while everybody is eating dim sum already. We asked the bald head guy (probably like a general manager) about our order and he was literally yelling at us about arriving late. We have to re-submit our order and waited for another 20 mins for our food, one of the ,dim sum didnt even cook thru and it was cold. He bald head guy came over and asked if we have enough food while we are still waiting for 2 more dim sum and he AGAIN yelled at us and said we only ordered 4 where I marked 6 dim sum or the order sheet. He didnt apologize for his rude attitude but said we should come earlier instead. It just not a pleasant experience for us, we will not go there AGAIN! p.s. remember the bald head guy, A$$HOLE!

After reading the reviews and finding ourselves in San Diego for a few hours (80 miles from home) we decided to have dim sum at this restaurant. First impressions, the rest rooms were appalling and could do with some renovation, the ceilings of the whole place could do with total replacement filthy dirty. On to the service, one or two waitresses were somewhat attentive but overall service was quite quite bad and that is with a Cantonese speaker in the group ! On to the Dim Sum, so very disappointed, the food was cold, flavorless and overall just bad. We spent $ 80 on 4 people for Dim sum overpriced for the rubbish food that we received. You can always tell a good dimsum restaurant from their sui mai and theres was bad. The only positive note was that for a chinese restaurant serving dim sum it wasnt too noisy like most of them can get !! We can recommend a place close to Irvine where the service is excellent, ambiance great and the food is fantastic and price and variety great. it is called the King Lobster Palace in Orange, close to Anaheim.

Definitely serves below average Cantonese dishes. The food probably is not fresh as the taste is masked by heavy seasonings of salt. Fried food was under a puddle of oil. Peking duck is a joke, no kidding, the drumsticks were missing probably Chef kept them for himself and there is only serving of Peking duck per person. Remaining Peking duck came out like my dog gnawed on it. Live seafood(Lobster) per/lb price was inflated by the server adding more water to the scale. Size of dishes with respect to price is disproportionate. Its worth mentioning that I observed the table next to me ordering Peking duck also had its drumsticks missing, must have flew away LOL. All the restaurants that Ive been to have the drumsticks served and the Peking duck sliced and served in front of you. Definitely will not go back because the lack of quality and freshness and questionable business practices.

I still like their dim sum, but I agree with others that the whole quality of the food has gone down. We used to come here really often, for dim sum and also for dinners some times. It was always excellent. In 1998, I had a Birthday dinner party for my mom when she turned 80. It was fantastic! They were very attentive to us in spite of having almost the whole rest of the place taken over for a wedding banquet. All the food was delicious, I know we had Peking Duck, with the rest of the duck served as Lettuce Cups. It was as good as any place Ive had it in LA, or Monterey Park. Now I wouldnt consider going there for dinner; the prices have gone up, portions and quality have gone down. Very disappointing!

I love dim sum. Emeralds dim sum is tasty and cheap. They have everything from shrimp flat noodles, pork shu Mai, pork spare ribs to chicken feet. They also have their regular menu available if you want more than just dim sum. A must is their shrimp egg roll with a honey walnut dipping sauce. I usually get two orders just for myself. Its that good! They also offer sweets - custard, gelatins, red bean mochi balls and much more. A staple for me after a long night of drinking or just needing to get my fill of dim sum. Im always craving for Emeralds. Dont expect grand service though, but its okay their food more than makes up for it.

They remodeled the place, its lovely, bright and clean. The food also got better, will the dim sum did. You order off a menu, not my favorite because I like the push cart dim sum and you over order when you pre select. The prices also went up but considering how tasty it was it was worth the price. 2014 - Not a lot of good dim sum places in San Diego, this place is OK for dim sum, better than Jasmine. My dad likes us to take him here. On certain days they have a special price on dum sum. Weve come here for dinner too, also ok. Back in the day when it opened (20+ years ago) this was the place to go.

A tiny bit on the expensive side, and you dont get the fun of picking your dim sum from carts. But that also means you dont have to crane your neck back and forth, hoping theyll come your way. It still comes out fast, though, so you dont have to wait much longer than you might at cart-served dim sum joints. And they have mimosas, so they have two out of three of my favorite brunch items. I dont think theres a good way to mix my third favorite, hollandaise sauce, with those other two, so itll have to do. Weve also had great service each time weve been in!

全美国最差的餐馆,worst restaurant at USA expensive Cold food with terrible service.

I have eaten at dozens of Chinese restaurants in San Diego and I have yet to discover one that impresses me. It is never a problem with the service, or even quality of food, it is usually how it is prepared. Maybe it is because I went to China a few years back and ate some authentic Chinese food, but nothing here in San Diego has aroused my taste buds like the food in China. I guess I will keep searching. This is definitely one of the better Chinese spots I have eaten at. The seafood seemed very fresh.

We tried Emerald because the wait at Jasmine was too long. Called Emerald and they said there was no wait for 2 - the wait was about 10 minutes. Food was everything you would expect at a dim sum place - no surprises for good or bad. Plenty of carts around and everything was hot and fresh. Price was also right. My only complaint was that there was not more variety available, and 1 or 2 dishes were surprisingly expensive. Again, overall the price was very reasonable and the food was good.

Just had dim sum lunch there today and came away extremely displeased with the service, food quality and price. Dim sums were not hot, especially the broccoli which they charged $8.99 for! When we entered, the surly man behind the desk barked, "Not here...the entrance is over there!" pointing to his left. Most unpleasant greeting we have experienced. Service was poor. After 5 dim sum orders that was so low down on taste and temperature, we left!
