This is where I come for my orange chicken fix. It is crispy just how I like it. The wonton soup also makes me happy. It is warm and healing when I need a soup in my life. The orange chicken is definitely a once in awhile dish because its a fried syrupy goodness! This is a restaurant where you can enjoy your favorite consistently. I also try dishes of people dining with me to my pleasure! It is nice to know that I can stray away from my "regulars and enjoy the find. I always have excellent experiences at Hong Kong. The service is prompt, no frills attention. The hours are insane (til 2:30am! all the time!!) and super helpful when you have friends trying to get their munchie fix at weird hours. Just dont come at 2am on a weekend night unless you want to observe total mayhem. I was there a couple week-ends ago when it was filled with some of the people flowing in after final call at the bars. It was a scene. I was already seated so it wasnt a big deal. I could see being put off if I was waiting for a table though. Overall, it was amusing, but thats because I drifted from the conversation at my own table into eavesdrop mode. So be ready for that. It comes with your food if youre dining at 2am! Most recently, I went in the afternoon around 4pm and it was not busy at all. Despite there being no rush, the male server was just as prompt and expedient as if there was a rush. I like this. I like that the server takes care of the customer, number one, here all the time. I never feel like Im waiting for a long time at this restaurant. Bonus: parking in lot next door is validated up to an hour.

I almost live on top of this place, so I have eaten here one or two dozen times. But I havent ordered from them in a few months, now. For starters, I am a Kung Pao fanatic, and theirs is disappointing. This is not necessarily their fault. I am a fan of the Szechuan-style of Kung Pao, and this restaurant is Hong Kong style, as the name suggests. (For those amateur Chinese food lovers in the crowd, there are 5 styles of Chinese cooking but we lazy Americans just give it all the same name, Chinese food. The styles [if I remember correctly] are Szchechuan, Cantonese, Hunan, Hong Kong, and Peking, though there are a few other smaller styles not typically found in the States.) So I stopped ordering Kung Pao and Ive tried a handful of other dishes and I still felt disappointed. Usually its the sauces fault. They are way over bearing, way rich, way greasy. The "spicy food" items are hardly spicy at all... Its just OK as far as Chinese food goes, but what sets this place apart are the hours and price. Another half a block and another $5 will get you to Asian Bistro, which is better in many ways and also open until 3 AM.

First off, dont believe the reviews. 70 percent of the customers are drunk. Ordered plum wine, it was horribly turned, they refused to take it back. Ordered sweet and sour chicken, it was overcooked and tasteless. Ordered their "chefs special" shrimp scrambled egg. The eggs were soggy and tasteless. That entree came with their "combo" which consisted of watered down wonton soup and, you guessed it, tasteless, greasy, spring rolls. Honestly, Ive had better Chinese food at the fair. The service was slow. The waiter was rude and berated another table for sitting down at a table because they ignored them for 10 minutes. My date and I didnt even want to get the food boxed. We wont be back. Just because theyre open late, it does not excuse them from offering severely dissapointing food and service. I wish I had just set my $40 ablaze and gotten panda express. Sad.

Their food is overpriced and theyre shady. I gave them a call on two separate occasions asking how much pork fried rice cost, the man over the phone told me 5 dollars and some change. It correlated to the prices on the urbanspoon website where theyre menu is on display. So I send a friend to do a pick-up, and for three orders of Pork fried rice we ended up being charged $30. This did no correspond to what they told me over the phone and what the website said. So I called the restaurant inquiring as to why the up charge and they told me the prices on the website are incorrect. When I asked why he told me over the phone why it was 5 dollars, he acted like we never had the conversation. To add insult to injury, the food is awful. Maybe Im spoiled because I am coming from New York City, but this is really unacceptable. Over-priced and awful.

Call in for Mongolian beef take out order. Specifically asked for less oil, which was confirmed. They have a tendency to use way way way too much oil in their stir fry. Get it home and its swimming in a quarter inch of oil. WTF! Losing a customer today but I can guarantee they dont care. They dont care about their customer base no matter how regular they are. Ridiculous... The crazy taller grumpy Asian waitress is the one of the worst human beings in the world. She acts like she owns the business but doesnt. Absolutely no interpersonal skills. Everyone that has met her agrees. You will know when you meet her. She sucks in every possible way.

This is probably some of the best Chinese food in all of San Diego. An easy way to tell is that theyre still in business, in Hillcrest. The service is horrible. But the food more than makes up for it. Get the House Special Shrimp or Crispy Beef. Yes, it looks like a dump. Yes, one of the ancient Chinese women will gesture toward a table and toss a couple of menus your way. But youll be rewarded with some really excellent food.

I only ever order carry out, but I LOVE this place, the ladies who have taken my orders have always been very nice to me. If you go to the lot on the left you can park free for carry out, just have the cashier validate your ticket. They are always on point with the food, and the service is quick and reliable every time. It has been a favorite of mine for a really long time.

The restaurant was clean and nice looking for "Fast Food". The only thing I noticed was that if you go here for lunch and do not ask for the lunch special, you wont get them. I was handed the dinner menu along with dinner prices. I thought that sucked. The food was good but I did not appreciate being cheated out of the lunch special pricing.

Was looking forward to trying to this place and I was so beyond disappointed. The food was completely grotesque and bland. Everything even up to the broccoli tasted like old oyster sauce. Ironic since we ordered nothing that contained fish. The servers also unfortunately have very negative attitudes:-( please dont bring your children here
