Were new residents of San Carlos, so weve been sampling the restaurants on Laurel Street for the last month. So far, Piacere has been the only true disappointment of the dozen or so placed weve been. Food: B+ Menu Selection: B Drinks: B- Atmosphere: C Decor: D- Service: F The food was excellent and nicely presented. The homemade pesto was done very well. The menu selection was a notch below what Id expect from a restaurant of this type, but still very good. The cocktails were well made but a bit small and a bit too watered down. The atmosphere was a bit haughty, with most of the servers and personnel behaving too pretentiously, as if their establishment was the center of attention. The decor pushes the boundary between kitsch and taste, with a permeating feeling of bingo-hall faux elegance which served more as a distraction that an embracing environment for fine dining. The service was abysmal with little attention paid to our table, despite our ample cues indicating we required more drink and the rapping of our fingers against the table in clear view as server after server walked past our table, oblivious; and this was not even a busy night. In all, I cant recommend Cafe Piacere. While the food is serviceable, there are much better establishments surrounding this particular attempt.

Two couples and my wife and I where there for dinner on August 7 2017. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. I ordered Spinach Ravioli which were different but very good. My wife ordered a Hamburger medium on a Brioche Bun with no cheese. The hamburger was well done and the Brioche was burnt with leftover cheese on it. No good! One of the lady friend ordered Rigatoni Pasta. It was the wrong pasta type and under cooked, not even al dente! No good! The pasta from her husband was very bland. For dessert we ordered the Bred Pudding witch was very dry. The waiter was friendly but made a mistake with the tree credit cards. I was charged twice! First called the Restaurant and explained the situation and to my surprise they where very unprofessional. They told me we will look into the my situation and call me in one week. I never got a call back. I found out my friend got no charge and my card was swiped two times. Yes I know we should always check the Signature slip but there is no excuse for me, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Piacere differentiates itself from other Italian restaurants in San Carlos by eschewing the homey, rustic Italian and going for a more fresh approach. When you get your food the freshness of the ingredients seem to scream off the plate. None of the food is overly complicated, but is full of flavor with bright olive oil, creamy cheese, and crisp bread. The menu is solid although not overly large. There wont be tons of choices for everyone, but there should be at least one thing for everyone. I recommend the salads, fish and anything with cheese. The one thing to be very aware of is that service is almost painfully slow, so be sure to get yourself a glass of wine to help the time go back.

There, we got the lazy readers out of the way with the title. No reason to flood this great restaurant with lazy review readers. This place is fantastic. I went there for lunch last week, and took my fiance back there for dinner last night. Their drinks are unique and taste great, the food is fantastic. I had a lamb steak with a lamb bacon salad concoction, and we shared a blackberry something desert. All of the food was right on, the lamb wasnt like anything I had before. They had a great jazz band there last night too, fired up around 730 I think.... Must Go! (but please dont go sat at 730, thats my time).

Went there because we couldnt get into Town Rest. we were hopeful the best part was the food was tasty , the bad part was they were disorganized forgot orders served appetizers after the salads under cooked filet (how bad could it be:-) and the head chef didnt know the Desert menu offerings, and said a printer error any way they were good for it took off a whole meal and a desert that was good we still tipped the waiter good he was nice so was the chef dinner for 3 no booze $200+ before tip not a value at that price point from an experience point

We are long time customers. We go there almost every weekend for brunch. We like it there because it is open and bright. This gives it a cheerful and happy atmosphere. We like the decor. The food for brunch is excellent. We get the salmon hash, eggs Benedict, and the kids steak. I also really like the French toast. The service is reasonably good, but sometimes slow. Weve been to many places for brunch in this area, but time and time again we go back to Piacere because it is still our favorite. We often think that they deserve more business.

Stopped by on a Sunday late afternoon without a reservation, luckily the place was empty. Ahi Tartare: served in 3 mini taco shells but one of them was missing half the shell. It was placed strategically so you couldnt tell unless you lifted it up. Meatloaf: mushroom gravy and onion strings paired nicely with the loaf of meat Linguini and clams: sauce was bland There was one point where our server was missing for 15 minutes, but overall she was nice. Dont forget to check your Groupon as they only allow you to use it on certain days.

Eventhouh we had reservations for 7:30 we were given a table by the bar, dinner was not served until 9 pm only after complaining of the slow service. The food was not adequate. For the price and we refused it.... Bottom line Our perfect valentines date was ruined by the slow service and inadequate attention. We ate our dinner across the street at Town Restaurant. We had a completely different and enjoyable experience. They were accommodating and attentive.

Plain, under flavored, and very bland tasting menu. We tried a bit of everything and can say with confidence that nothing stood out. We should have we t with of first choice of restaurant across the street. Very awkward wait staff also. When I was making a reservation the hostess was almost surprised I called to make one. I should have known then.

We went there tonight for Christmas Eve dinner. The waiter was pushy and not helpful. He also tried to cheat us on the bill saying we ordered champagne instead of moscato. Not true! One of our guests has food allergies. The waiter didnt care about our concerns and just brushed her off. I will not go to this establishment again.

The Mussels + we order are cooked in Iron Skillet flavored with Sea Salt and Butter. A great idea is delivered underwhelming. Its too dry. Prawn BLT is sandwiched with grilled marinated Shrimp, bacon, garlic aioli and toasted Focaccia. Again, another great concept but overall, the texture and taste present it as mediocre.

The food at this place is ok, but the service is terrible. Our waiter got 3+ things wrong during the course of our recent lunch there. Our water glasses were constantly empty. I tried complaining to their management through the owners email listed on their website, but they havent taken the time to respond.

Ive been here a few times and enjoyed myself each time. The food is very good, and the drinks are tasty as well. The live jazz is usually enjoyable, and the location is quite good. Parking is generally not a problem, though you might have to duck down a side street.
