I started with a glass of red wine and bf had an old fashioned. Both were fine. We took the advice of some yelpers and stuck to appetizers versus main courses. We ordered the beet salad, calamari, and chicken wings. All 3 promptly came out in what seemed like a short amount of time. I enjoyed the beet salad, it was simple yet tasty (pretty safe salad to not mess up). The calamari wasnt very crispy, and there were even a few bits that seemed over cooked, yet still soggy. Meh, pass. The chicken wings had a fish sauce glaze, which I found interesting (very subtle fish sauce taste and think more of chili sauce in the bottle). Again, ok, but nothing stellar. I thought the portions size were ok for the price, for some reason I thought theyd be bigger (I was thinking they were meant for large groups). One thing was that service was a bit slow. It seemed that our waiter was working hard to go from table to table, so understandable. He was friendly though. Overall, I feel like groups go to Mua more for the atmosphere and drinks. It seemed god for big parties as well. The happy hour Im sure is worth checking out. But I dont think Id be in any rush to visit soon. The food just wasnt up to par to what I expected.

This place can be easily missed as its smack in the middle of Auto Row; in fact it appears the place here may use to be a dealership or repair shop of some sort. Street parking can be a bit challenging. The food here is good quality. The brussel sprouts, fried calamari, mac and cheese, bone marrow, crab cakes and chicken spread are good. I found their 24-hour pork ribs and lamb cheeks was nothing spectacular. Their rib eye was good and you get a big 12+ ounce piece of good quality meat with a healthy helping of herb butter on a bed of fries. The lemongrass lemonade, was refreshing but I couldnt really taste the lemongrass. This place also had some interesting desserts. I found their ice cream was on the overly sweet side, but the Double Shot Expresso with Ice Cream and their flowerless chocolate cake are a must try. Be prepared as they charge a 20% service fee for groups.

The restaurant really embraces the converted warehouse vibe and it works for them. The graffiti art, the high ceiling, the DJ playing upstairs and the hustle bustle of people is part of what gives the place its easy-going ambience. We stuck with the small plates which I recommend. We tried a variety of the vegetarian options of which there were many. The dishes had a lot of variety but the No Cheese Mac N Cheese was the runaway favorite. I have absolutely no doubt that I would order it again if I returned to Mua. Its actually a vegan dish and made from butternut squash. A lot of reviewers rave about the cocktails here, however, my experience was somewhat lackluster. I found the standard drinks a bit too sweet in general although I have to say the sweetness was matched by potency!

My cousin and her friend and I grabbed drinks at MUA after dinner last night. The atmosphere is great. It has a hip, renovated old factory feel. The menu reads/looks great with lost of options for everyone including the vegan/ begetarian however the food proved to need more attention to detail. I ordered the drilled peaches over salad and the peaches tasted fishy. I suspect the grill was used for a piece of fish and not washed... The drink menu was also impressive but the execution was mixed. I ordered a crazy pisco that was very good but my cousin and her gf ordered the Mua Pineapple Martini that was so strong it was really hard to even sip... Despite the underwhelming execution i would give this restaurant another go and recommend it with caution...

Although Ive driven by Mua countless times, I only recently had dinner here and I was blown away. From the moment you walk past the bar and into the main room, its a feast for the eyes, incredibly unique layout and decor. There were wide variety of cocktails that of which I tried a couple and they were excellent, however the crowning jewel is their food. This is a place where everything they bring to the table is phenomenal. We ordered the crispy tofu, brussels sprouts, beef carpaccio, lamb tangine, duck confit and the one that everyone raves about, the Mac and cheese with out the mac and cheese but butternut squash instead. Amazing! Prices are also very reasonable considering the overall experience. Last but not least, the service was quite charming.

We went there last night to celebrate my wifes birthday and had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. After a few hiccups from the waitress, who informed us that it was her 3rd day working there, were understandable. It was finally when a plate, with ketchup on it, broke at our feet, splattering on our clothes. We ask to speak to the manager to voice our concern, in which they sent the owner. Before we could finish saying 1 of the multiple things that went wrong, the OWNER interrupted with "People like you are trash, get out.". I tried again to explain, and he repeated "People like you are trash, get out.". The previous was great but this last one NOT AT ALL!

AMAZING! this is such a cute hipster place in Oakland. I tend to get a few dishes to share with a friend. Last time I got the mussels, garlic shrimp, ahi poke tuna, and a white peach mojito. All were amazing! Garlic shrimp was soooo yummmmy. There is certainly garlic, but also a nice buttery flavor to it. Mussels felt very hearty, has french fries. Ahi tuna had a great sauce to it, tuna was made well with a light searing on the otuside with seaweed and soft on the inside. And it came with a little salad in the middle; which helped to add some greens to our dish. Service was great and fast. Food was very satisfying. Would recommend to others.

Interesting place, but made a terrible first impression, which is something bay area restaurants cant afford. I felt the atmosphere was a little too frenetic. I think the end vision was interesting, but theyve pushed it a little too far. Services was amazingly bad. Like bordering on get up and leave kind of bad. The food was good, but I felt it was a bit pricey. This may have been tainted by the amazingly bad service (did I mention the service was bad?). I might give this place a second chance, but in a town full of good options, its going to be a tough sell.

I really like the ambiance and atmosphere of MUA. It has a hip warehouse-y feel. The parking isnt ideal, but luckily Ive been able to find parking each time across the street. The restaurant is pretty large and has a good selection of food and alcohol. During my different visits Id tried the po boy sandwich, duck, lamb, bone marrow, ahi tuna, and they were all delicious. I brought my friends here recently to let them try a taste of Oaklands food and wanted a nice restaurant that was laid back and trendy, but still had a sophisticated feel and yummy menu.

I have been here many times over the years, often after the Oakland Art Murmur on the first Fridays. It is usually packed with people and waiting for a table can take a while but it has great food and great drinks, so its worth the wait. They can accommodate medium sized groups pretty well but youll get in faster if youre just a couple of people. The decor is modern and eclectic, always changing and unique. It feels like the embodiment and heart of Oakland to me.
