Whats lacking in ambience and spirit is certainly made up for in the quality and craftsmanship of their baked goods. The men and women behind the counter and pastry cases are knowledgable and friendly and will certainly help you come to a decision when you become entranced by their large selection of freshly baked macarons. Keep in mind that their selection is fairly limited as far as cakes, pastries and tarts are concerned. However what they do have in-stock is generally not found in many other bakeries and is, more often than not, to die for. You wont regret stopping by even if just to glance at the beautiful treats that they have to offer.

If you desire authentic French pastries without the cost of travel to France then Pamplemousse is the place to visit. The artwork alone will make any special occasion that more memorable. While I have not tried everything on the menu that which I have is akin to what Ive had during my times spent in France. The hand made macaroons are superb. Of the multiple flavors tried I recommend amaretto, pecan, salted caramel, and peanut butter-banana. The ham and cheese croissant is the perfect for any small meal. The establishment is clean and well maintained. Definitely not your break open the Pillsbury dough can shop.

Though everything looked really delicious, I only got a chance to try their macarons. I got one of every flavor, but I was pretty disappointed in them. They were not only dry, but every single one of them had huge air bubbles in the cookie—which means, when I bit into them, they were more like hollow, empty shells rather than the dense cookie that marks a quality macaron. Perhaps they had a bad batch, or perhaps their other baked goods are better and theyre not known for their macarons—Im willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. On the plus side, service was very efficient and welcoming!

We love to indulge in weekend breakfasts at Pamplemousse. Our favorites are the custard berry and fresh fruit tarts, ham and cheese filled croissant, and brioche (huckleberry, pumpkin, cinnamon). Of the cakes, my favorite has a roasted banana mousse with roasted banana in the center on chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache. They also make a great vanilla cappuccino. We just got a gateau st. honore cake with pumpkin spice cream for Thanksgiving--awesome! Macarons are also tasty--my husband thinks they are better than Bouchon Bakery.

I LOVE Pamplemousse! Every time I go the friendly staff is happy to make our usual favorite drinks (I get the white mocha and my boyfriend gets it iced... we are both supremely happy with them) and suggestions for new and exciting baked goods to try. I love going to the farmers market on Saturdays and then getting a Baguette here, less than a block away. Its also super close to the museum and theaters so would make a great stop before a tour or matinee. I Definitely recommend this local favorite to anyone.

I did not know there was a bakery of this quality in Redwood City! To celebrate a colleagues birthday, one of our hipster designers brought in croissants and other pastries this morning from Pamplemousse Cafe. My favorite was the jambon et fromage (ham/cheese) croissant which was a light/flufffy cloud of sweet/savory goodness. I cant speak to the service as I did not visit the store front but this place is a treat and Ill definitely visit again and maybe add to this review. =)

My boyfriend and I were on a mission to find good bakeries near us. We found it here in Pamplemousse. My boyfriend is an avid baker and very few places impress him but this place was fantastic. The best way to tell the quality of a bakery is by the quality of their croissants and the ones here are perfect! Also you have to try their cheese cake it was well worth the stomach ach.

I order a Ham & Cheese croissant just before I got on the train to eat during my commute. They went to the back thinking it would be warm up, since it was a breakfast meal. The service was not friendly look like the lady is having a bad morning up to this point. When I got in the train and bit into the breakfast meal it was COLD!!!! Not a happy customer!!! O(

Best French pastry on the peninsula. Served with Quebecois hospitality. Quiche and croissant sandwiches and salads for lunch as well. Excellent barristas too. Last but not least: mystically crunchy and gooey macaroons in dozens of flavors, all freshly hand made. And no, I dont work here, just a delighted long time satisfied customer.

Great breakfast spot. Surprisingly affordable for the authentic French faire. The croissants were amazing, and the savory tarts flavorful and flaky. Good coffees and teas, priced lower than nearby Starbucks and higher in quality. Very highly recommended. I wish I lived here so I could come back often.

Good croissant and coffee but rude service. I said to go but lady place the food on plate. I thought to stay for a moment to map my location, not familiar with the area. The workers started complaining behind my back about half staying and half to go. I shouldve gone to Starbuck R or Philz.

I love chai lattes and Im always looking for an alternative to Starbucks. This place makes a pretty good chai latte and delicious cakes and pasteries to go with it. Patio seating in the front. Also sells sandwiches. Convenient location downtown. One critique is the service, not the best.

A wide assortment of colorful macaroons, the first place Ive seen that specializes in them. Veggie-zucchini baguette fresh and bread toasted well! Ambience nice and quiet in the mornings, one block from Redwood City Caltrain, easy access.

Best croissants outside of France. Spent a week in southern France this summer, and getting to come to Pamplemousse in my old stomping ground of Redwood City is a must stop. Delicious, simply made the correct way!!! Worth the calories ;-)

This was on my wish list since I came to Redwood city. The bakery is really good and so is the place! The interiors are pleasant and outdoor seating is located at a calm junction. Definitely worth visiting for good sweet food.

1st time I was there, and likely to be the last. Ordered the Garden burger w/fries...burger so underdone I couldnt eat it. Fries perfect. Staff takes your money fast enough but cant smile? Very disappointed.

Really good French pastries. Their croissants are perfect, but a little too big to finish in one go. The coffee is just okay. This is a great place to go with a dog and sit on their peaceful outdoor patio.

The *BEST* pre-ordered birthday cakes in the world! So worth the cost. And their pastries, macaroons, and paninis are also delightful. Make sure to get the turkey, bacon, onion relish panini. yum.

Quick, authentic, warm, bright, friendly. The Croque Monsieur is the best Ive ever had. The drinks are delicious and although I have yet to explore the pastries they look unbelievable.

They make amazing croissants: rich and flaky, just the way croissants are supposed to be. They also have a variety of sandwiches that they offer which are also quite good.

My colleague brought in four cakes for my birthday. They were uniformly excellent and beautiful. Particularly delish was the pistachio cake. Its my new favorite!
