Im actually very disappointed. I saw the menu online, decided perhaps this would be better than Dennys across the street. Im a counter person; cant see using a table when its just me. Of course seating quickly is hardly a problem at the counter. It would seem all the servers take their breaks sitting at the counter 1 seat away from me. Of course that invites other servers and then its off and running. I get to sit and listen to all the problems of people not coming in, needing more sleep, yada yada yada. If I wanted to spend my evening with that, Id just stay a work myself. I think Ill go back over to Dennys. At least they dont care enough about you and leave you alone and they usually always pour the coffee when the cup is empty, or close to it anyway. I wrote this entire commentary and Im still waiting for a second cup of coffee after having the steak and shrimp dinner. $21.04 I pay to listen to the drama. Tsk tsk tsk, girls, air out your problems NOT at work. Gee theyre loud.

Dined twice in 2 days...NO improvement. Slow service and overheard many wait staff talking about how busy they had been. Overheard a waiter call another staff member a "lazy SOB"...inappropriate. At no time were the counter spaces next to mine cleared and wiped down. Service area was filthy and items (canned whip cream and chocolate syrup) requiring refrigeration were left out. I have been a regular daily customer at a franchise Black Bear Diner and dined at 12 oothes for one or more meals on multiple visits. This is the WORST of them. I suggest corporate invest some time, energy, staff training and money into this facility. The truth never lies in those sitting at a seat removed from the counter area. Some meaningful QA is in order.

If I see a full parking lot I will not go in. It is a small parking lot but it took over 30 minutes to be seated, you could feel the tension at the front counter, we finally got seated and ordered. Our food came out quick which made me concerned for being so busy. My bacon was so overcooked. It was WAAAY too crispy and the sausage pattys that were suppose to be mild were flaming hot. The eggs were overcooked and the bread was stale or over toasted. the only soft part was the very center. I was looking forward to treating my best friend from out of town with a great Redding Breakfast. very disappointed. might be a while before I go back but will never go back when they have a full house.

Went here on the way to Oregon. Was expecting good food from its good looks, but ended up being horribly unsatisfied. They got our order wrong, the fries were FLOPPY, and the meat was over done. Sister ordered the avocado burger medium-rare, ended up getting a regular cheese burger...no avocado...hockey puck cooked. Mom ordered the bacon burger, medium rare...also hockey puck. I ordered a regular old cheese burger, and they got my order right! But it was a hockey puck too... We were already unsatisfied with our burgers, but when we saw the fries we were over and done with the kitchy "Black Bear Diner". They were floppy and oily. Should have just stopped by Inn out.

This is the worst Black Bear Ive ever eaten at! As well as the service was horrible! I know proper Black Bear service and Redding doesnt provide it at all!! Bruce and Bob would be extremely disappointed if their name is one this one still! I grew up on Black Bear since I was 17 as well as family running and owning part of diners, I stepped in this one in this town one time, that was 9 years ago due to the service and food not being to the Black Bear standard Im use to. I hope theyve got the issue under control, but Im just not willing to put it to the test. I dont have the patience for this town..

Black Bear Diner is a pretty decent place to go for a quick breakfast or lunch ( I try to stay away from the dinner). They were very good about checking on us and bring refills on the coffee however it did take forever to place our actual food order. I typically try to get the eggs benedict or one of their omlettes - ive never had a real problem with any of them, though theyre also not life altering breakfast meals either. You get what you pay for and for the price the meal is right. I enjoy them enough that I come here pretty frequently. Good services, good meals and decent prices.

There were flies EVERYWHERE... in my food, on the table, and landing on me. Our food was ready within about a half hour, but it took ten extra minutes for our waiter to actually bring the food to us, as he was busy going around and asking everybody how their meal was. There werent any meat-free options for lunch/dinner, so I ordered breakfast, and I have to say, it was pretty good, despite its greasiness. The kids menus were really cool because they had games, stories, and coloring pages.

If you have ever been to a black bear dinner and know how great they are do not, I repeat DO NOT expect that same quality of service here. They under cooked my and my mothers eggs, my wifes eggs they burnt. The service was almost non-existent. I had to ask for my toddlers milk about four times. I cannot believe the location closest to their original store is doing this poorly. It is very sad indeed that I need to find a new breakfast place for my time here in Redding.

The servers here are super helpful, and if you dont like what youve ordered (and havent eaten a lot of it) theyll usually replace it for you for no charge. Customer service is A+ here. The food, of course, is great, as they are often willing (if they are able) to replace or substitute other things for what the meal comes with (sides, mainly, but you can ask for certain parts of the main meal to be removed, and they will always do sauce on the side).

Went there this evening at 5:45. Stood at the entrance with my boyfriend and my guide dog for five solid minutes. The SAME waitress walked by us THREE TIMES. Each time making eye contact with my BF. Never said ANYTHING. No "Ill be right with you" no "hello, one moment". NOTHING. We finally walked out. HORRIBLE SERVICE RECENTLY. This was the last straw for me. Ive gone from being a die hard black bear patron to Ill spend my money elsewhere.

The last time I went here with my family, we were treated horribly. When we ordered our dessert pies, the waitress told my mom that they were out with an attitude and when we got up to pay minutes later, there were dozens of pies including the kind she ordered in the case!! Discrimination! We do not like being lied to! Plus the fries were cold! Lost good customers that day, never going back! Found a better diner to go to, HUMBLE JOES.

HORRIBLE...stopped on our way home from oregon and thought it wld be good since all the other black bears we have been to were...mom got biscuts and gravy and they were nasty biscuts with a gravy that tasted just purely of pepper and no other flavor...didnt even come with sausage in the gravy...and i got clam chowder...horribly disappointing, wished i wld have just gone to taco bell across the street...definatly avoid this place.
