Yum! I came here with my parents over the weekend and had a really nice brunch. The day was absolutely GORGEOUS so I called ahead and requested that our reservation be tagged with an outdoor seating request. They were happy to accommodate and we were happy to enjoy the sunshine along with our delicious food. Some people have complained on Yelp or otherwise about the service here, but I found the service to be fabulous. Our server was incredibly attentive. Additionally, we ordered calamari that was never delivered, but the server was very accommodating and apologetic, and two different managers/owner types stopped by to apologize and offer comped dishes, etc. to make up for it. Of the food we DID receive, all of it was delicious. Both my mom and I had deviled bloody marys (served with a deviled egg on top!) that were super delicious. My dad enjoyed his salty dog cocktail. Mom ordered the dungeness benedict, I ordered the smoked salmon platter bread dish, and my dad got the chorizo hash. All three dishes were really good - the chorizo was warm and hearty, the benedict creamy with perfectly poached eggs, the smoked salmon was a good combination of salty and creamy with the eggs and avocado. Definitely a solid brunch option, especially when you want to be outside near the water.

We stopped in for appetizers with a friend who was on the Entertainment Staff of the cruise ship docked just across the Embarcadero last night. Although we had heard of Fog City Diner, we had never stopped in. We liked the special drinks list, but opted for a couple of glasses of wine, which was good and fairly priced. But then we had a hard time choosing between all the enticing appetizer choices. Michael, our attentive waiter, first advised us on drinks choices, and then quickly processed our orders. The cornbread was extra good with the spicy dip, and the onion rings (though inevitably a bit oily) were yummy with their own homemade spicy ketchup. But the star attractions for us were the chicken tacos, and the pulled pork sliders with tangy french fried pickle slices. And to crown it all, we heard Michael advising the next booth about the choice of "local" wines that he recommended; he immediately suggested two choices from Sonoma County Wine Country (where we live) (Great choice!), and he quickly brought the people a tasting of both so that they could choose. And they bought a bottle! We loved our brief visit. Well be back!

Editing because of a recent visit. Ive been here quite a few times but service is seriously suffering lately. Sat at the bar, ordered a sazerac, which was good, and some furikake fries that were drowning in oil. I waited over an hour for some sort of indication I was still being served before I just asked for my check and cashed out; I was going to eat dinner but decided otherwise. For having three bartenders on shift and not a full bar, thats really unacceptable. Like I said, Ive been here quite a few times. I like this place. Or, at least I want to because the food and drinks are usually fantastic. The recent decline in service has me questioning whether Ill come back or ever recommend it again. Just disappointed.

For a diner its expensive, but this is no ordinary diner. Fog City goes upscale with usual dining fare: onion rings, fries, burgers, salads. It also offers some fancy classic SF food like lamb chops, steak, roast chicken, curry mussels, and multiple types of seafood. The menu is sizeable and offers something for everyone making it an almost perfect place for larger groups. The waitstaff was pretty good too. Even though our chicken was messed up by the kitchen (it was a new dish) they brought us complimentary onion rings and apologized profusely. Dessert was great too with an upscale root beer float and some excellent bread pudding. A fun place to go and it reminded me of the scene from "So I Married An Axe Murderer."

So I came here really hyped up because I saw this place on food network and I really wanted to experience a great diner (flew all the way from Los Angeles, CA). First, we didnt get greeted by our server for about 5 minutes and he kind of gave us attitude when we told him that we were not ready to order. We ordered after a bit ( i got the bbq pork sliders, my boyfriend got a burger) and our food came out. Not once did our server come back to see how we were doing or get us refills. He decided to get us refills when he saw that we were ready to pay. Horrible service and it really ruined my overall experience of this place. Not sure if I would ever visit or recommend this place if I come back to San Francisco.

stopped in here with a friend after a day of vigorous touristing. The restaurant looks a bit like an old school diner, so I was a little worried that itd be standard burgers and fries. This was not the case. We started with an order of the furikake fries and they were really tasty. They have interesting seasoning that resembles garlic, but is not overpowering. For my meal, I got the two fish tacos. They are delicious. Seriously, get them. I wish the order came with more than two because they were tasty, but left me wanting just a bit more. For dessert, we got the B bomb. Im not much of a dessert person, but it was good.

We loved dining at the Fog City Diner, a real taste of authentic San Francisco atmosphere. While sitting at the counter, we got to watch the kitchen crew work VERY quickly and precisely at getting delicious food out to a packed house. The staff was very experienced (no high-schoolers here) and worked as a team, giving special attention to accommodating customers with food allergies. I do not like fish at all but had a good feeling about trying the fish tacos and I was not disappointed, it was delicious. The Fog City Diner is the perfect place to stop by to complete your visit to San Fran.

Great atmosphere. Inspirational food. Excellent service. Our sandwiches were wonderful. I had the fried green tomato sandwich while my husband had a fish sandwich (cant remember exactly what it was). We both left satisfied. Also, they originally told us the wait was 20 minutes but we were seated right away. It was raining and we had our 9month old with us so maybe they bumped us up (thanks!) My only recommendation for them would be indoor waiting area, even just one small bench for elderly, pregnant women, others who may not be able to stand for a 20 minute wait.

Outstanding service and great food in a fantastic atmosphere!! Came in with a group later one evening for dinner and ended up coming back three nights in a row! Some of the best starter plates in town (crispy brussels sprouts, grilled calamari are money!) and entrees from a 40 Oz ribeye to share with a few of your commarades to halibut on a bed of cous cous with lobster saffron broth to a spicy fried chicken that really brings the heat. This place should get six stars for the wait staff including Cassie, Aldo and the incomparable Lars. Cheers!!

Once, years ago, I had a dream. In this strange dream, everything was hazy and unclear. I was not sure where I was, but for some reason there was a restaurant in the middle of the street. Shortly after that, I saw the Fog City Diner, a mysterious and yet familiar restaurant in the midst of two streets. I had to eat there. Upon trying their food, I fell in love. The food was grand, I ate some sort of seafood product, I think it was the clams. The atmosphere was also quite pleasing, similar to a Johnny Rockets, but much more classy. I loved it!
