Deep Fried Artichokes ($8) are fresh artichoke quarters dusted with garlic seasoning, fried up until crispy, and served with fresh lemon, cool garlic cream, and garlic infused butter. The batter is very light for a good crispy exterior and juicy, sweet interior. Just be careful, since this is a hot-oil deep fried dish, the artichoke juices are quite hot, so let it rest for a little bit before diving in for your first bite. Rating: 4.3/5 The Mighty Zeus ($12) is a sandwich made with smoked tri-tip, olive tapenade, fried cherry peppers, garlic aioli, feta cheese, and fresh greens. The OC Baking Co. bread holds up really well to all the juices and sauce. The thinly sliced tri-tip is tender with an herby, Mediterranean flavor profile, like a California-style gyro. The olive relish adds some acidity and the peppers provide a little bit of heat. Rating: 4.3/5 St. Louis Ribs (Half rack - $18, Full rack - $25) are classic spare pork ribs that are smoked for 6 hours, chargrill finished, and sauced with cracked pepper BBQ sauce. These type of meat plates are served with two Classic Sides and cornbread. The ribs have a good smoked flavor and are "competition" tender with a good bite without it "falling off the bone" (which means overcooked in BBQ competition terms). The smoking and chargrill give it a beautiful caramelized bark on the outside. Cornbread is moist and not too sweet. Rating: 4.3/5 Chili Verde ($4) is a cup of pulled pork chili verde, tomatillos, and mild peppers in a seasoned broth. This is fantastic! It has a really good green chile flavor. The pork is pulled in just the right consistency to act like a "mop" to capture the flavor of the broth. Rating: 4.8/5 Hellbilly Chili ($4) is EPIC Beef and 3-beef chili topped with cheese, onion, and Scape sauce. This meaty chili tastes like kettle-cooked style chili. It is stick-to-your-ribs good! Rating: 4.5/5 Mac N Cheese ($4) is classic mac & cheese topped with herbs and bread crumbs. The in-house béchamel is fantastic! It is rich, creamy and very cheesy. The macaroni is cooked to al dente so it has a nice bite to without being soggy at all. Rating: 4/5

The place is your average, unassuming sports bar that happens to also serve BBQ. But unlike most of the BBQ places that only pretend to smoke the meat, this place actually does smoke, using strange and exotic woods. Will you notice a flavor difference? Perhaps not, but at least the food is honest. The pulled pork doesnt have a pre-mixed sauce, so you can select your own flavor (the cracked pepper sauce is pretty good, while the blackberry BBQ sauce is flavorful without being too sweet, a nice trick). The ribs are thick and meaty, and brushed with a good medium tomato-based sauce. The fries are large and well-prepared, and sprinkled with a "dry-rub" kind of mixture that gives them a nice bite. Sides have a nice variety, and heres proof these folks know how to cook: the grilled vegetable of the day was Brussels Sprouts, and they were actually tasty! Two items I was uninterested in were the mustard-based habanero sauce and any of the 25 beers, but if you like either, youll probably love it here. Prices were in keeping with the quality of the food (some BBQ joints abuse their customers horribly, charging exorbitant prices for inferior food). All in all, a pleasant experience, and one we will be repeating often in the coming months. Come get some before it gets popular and you cant get a table any more.

I have been a few more times and they are definitely improving. The meat was a bit, ok a lot too rare. I do not mind rare meat, this was closer to bleu/blue, I have a smoker and have smoked my own meat, so I know meat is different when smoked... but inside was like really raw and stringy, difficult to cut. Huge improvement with the fries, they are seasoned fries and practically worth a visit just for them. On our last visit I was eating everyone elses fries when they were stuffed. We were also surprised, that with a reservation, and late afternoon when the waiter came to take our orders, announced up front that there were only 3 racks of ribs left, so those people ordered first to make sure they got ribs. I know you are improving, and I know that it takes many hours to smoke, so you can not just throw on another rack of ribs. It didnt matter to me, I am not a ribs person, I was just glad that everyone got what they wanted. Add to list Edit Barbeque

I always enjoy going to Meat Up BBQ in Placentia. The restaurant has a small town feel with big city service and selection. They have a great variety of beers on tap and numerous barbeque sauces to choose from. Personally, I love to sit outside and their patio is perfect for that. Meat Up’s garlic feta fries are my all time favorite and are a meal in and of themselves. The garlic feta fries are delicious on their own but made even better by adding a side of Meat Up BBQs hot wing sauce!

My wife and I went during the soft opening mid-October. Both sandwiches were delicious (Cubano and Cheesesteak) and the baked beans (some sort of smoked apple black bean stew) are really extraordinary. Beer list was impressive, with 20+ craft beers on tap--both recommendations from our server were excellent. Apparently these guys have several successful food trucks and are now trying out a brick n mortar place. Best of luck to them... We will be back without a doubt.

Very tasty food. Portions are also very large so I would advise to order a few things at a time. Mac Attack Fries Very little Mac in it but it was very tasty and served hot! Louis Ribs The beans arent that good and are very sweet. The ribs are pretty good but dont come with sauce youll have to add sauce on yourself and they are extremely fatty. Overall very good though

Four of us spent an evening here. We didnt try the beers but the ribs were okay. The mac and cheese and chilly were on point. The feta garlic fries are awesome. The condiments on the table were sticky and we were given two spoons with old food stuck on them. The lighting was not inviting and the overall aesthetics were a little lacking.

We have been hearing about this place and decided to give it a try today for lunch. WOW!!! the best BBQ meat ever, and their honey mustard habanero sauce was amazing. Great food, and great prices. They also have several flat screen TVs up so we will be adding another great local hot spot to our Monday Night Football list. 10 Stars!!

I love this place! I would be here more often if I lived closer. Everything I have tried on the food menu has been great and the beer selection is amazing...theres always something new to try. Top it off with the great people and music and it is an all around winner! If you havent tried this place, youre missing out!

I had really high hopes for this after getting recommendations from a few people, but, while the beer selection was excellent, the meat wasnt great. I had ribs and tritip. The ribs were above average, but the tritip (they claim its a quarter pound) was just 4 thin slices that were slightly overdone and cold.

Been here a handful of times, food has been good every time. Pulled pork sandwich, ribs, fries are our usual and have not disappointed. They have a good selection of beers for different tastes too. Service is simple and good, you pay up front so you dont get bothered while you eat.
