I never bother to leave reviews, but i had to. Do not come here. Go to the one at the District. The location is cramped, the atmosphere is unfriendly, but Id happily overlook all of that if the food were as good the other Aloha BBQ locations. My shrimp was caked so thick with breading, that the outside was almost burnt, while the inside still had raw dough. Not appetizing at all. The portions are MUCH smaller than what Im used o from the District location. The fish fillets were also smaller, and over beaded too. The cabbage is prepared differently. Sweet pickled? Not to my taste, but maybe to yours? The menu is also different. I ordered a Seafood Mix like I always do, and shame on me for not looking closely, got some sort of BBQ ribs instead of the teriyaki chicken I was expecting (not their fault, but annoying). The ribs were fatty to the point of being completely inedible. Maybe some people like that, I wanted meat, not just clumps of fat. Thought Id give the place a shot since its closer to home, but Ill make the trek to the District in the future.

Worst location. Each location of this franchise is probably independently owned and operated, because this location is no where near as good as the other locations. In fact theres another location nearby, just north on Bristol St near South Coast Plaza mall. That other location is the best. This locations food quality is not as good as other locations... the cabbage tastes vinegary, the beef is somewhat overcooked, the teriyaki sauce doesnt even taste the same. Most importantly, this location serves SMALL portions! All other locations are famous for serving nice huge portions!

I love Hawaiin Bbq decided to try a new place on my way to go. Ordered the fried shrimp combo to go & was looking forward to eating a good meal. That was not the case. The first bite I took had such a bitter taste I literally had to spit it out. I gave them the benefit of the doubt tried a different piece & no same awful taste. I felt so sad, I was looking forward to my meal but no it was $9 thrown to the trash. Places like these make me hate trying new places

I asked for extra rice and they gave me extra macaroni. I called about it and they did offer to replace it, but I was at home and comfortable at that point. I recommend the south Bristol location just a few minutes down the street. The S. Bristol location has a far better parking situation as well, being located in a huge parking lot as opposed to this one which has no more than 30 parking spaces shared by several businesses in a small, congested area.

Food was horrible. Chicken katsu was over cooked in oil that seems like it was sitting for days. Cashier told me the system was down for credit card but a few seconds later the person behind me used their credit card!! Did you think my card was going to decline? Horrible service! Never again will I eat at this place. Doesnt even deserve a star

Same name as the other 2, but its like a totally different place. Small portions, food taste different, not in a bad way, and the sauce dispenser is junk. I recommend the Santa Ana or Tustin location. Very disappointed. Should have listened to the other reviews, lesson learned. No wonder it was empty, will never eat there again.

Girl at front counter was nice and pleasant to each customer....myself and those after me. My intention was to only eat part of the Hawaiian BBQ sampler plate....I sat there and ate the whole meal (please no pictures) Im glad I had a Hawaiian Strawberry soda to go with the meal ... if I am back in Costa Mesa....Ill come again

Not nearly as good as the other aloha Hawaiian spots. I believe this is part of the same chain, but did not feel like it. Stingy on portions and I dont know how but the macaroni salad was not nearly as good. If you want this place, spend the extra time and drive to the one at the district.

First of all, this is definitely great food! I usually get it to go but recently, the food has been coming out sub par. I ordered extra Mac salad (for 2) and they gave me extra rice...I feel disappointed because I frequently was visiting this establishment but now I probably wont go back.

Good short rib plate lunch. I got the smaller size and ended up having so much extra! The flavor was great and the short ribs werent super fatty. Overall I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere despite being a smaller place.

Food is ok, nothing special really. You get a lot for what you spend so the value is great. I like it, this is like my fast food since I do not eat mcDonalds or anything like that. 2 people can definitely eat for $8

This place is not a typical Aloha BBQ. They are extremely stingy with their portions, and you have to beg them for sauces. The one next to South Coast plaza is a much better choice!!

Food portions are small, strange pickled cabbage under the meat. The Tustin marketplace location has better portions, better parking, and uses steamed cabbage.

I ordered half barbeque chicken and half kalua pig. the kalua pig was very tasty and so was the barbeque chicken although the chicken was a little dry.
