Ive eaten here 4 times. Foods good, ambiance is nice, the people are pleasant, but the service is bad. It takes about 20 minutes to place an order another 20 to get the food. Ive waited 30 minutes for a check after i was done eating just because i got curious how long it would take after 15 minutes. Drink refills are spotty, some of the servers are good about it, some dont refill. Ive had my table cleared while eating. Theyve forgotten sides, placed the order with the kitchen after i received the rest of my food, then brought the wrong one after another 15 minutes, then charged me for the upgraded item i asked for the first time. This happened twice. Its frustrating because i want to like this place but its not just one person, this is just how it is.

Came here one time and it was a little over $12 for a burger. The price did not match the quality nor quantity. Came here the second time and paid for a grilled turkey sandwich with curly fries and hot tea which came out to about $15. Thinking this time would be different my grilled turkey was sliced turkey warmed up with a side of cold fries =(. The turkey slices tasted as though it came from Costco and after some reflection half-way through my meal I realized I could have made this and for a much more reasonable price. The aesthetic looks great, probably the reason why the bill is a little high. Not worth paying for the atmosphere with the generic diner food. There are other places more worth it. Happy eatings!!!

This place is usually crowded, which is not too uncommon for the area, but I am just not used to waiting to sit at Mels Diners, and there is a 5 to 10 minute wait at all usual dining times. Once you do get a table, the wait staff here is really on it. Seriously, packed house, and they will make you feel like you are the only table there. Excellent service. I would give this place 5 stars, but the food unfortunately is a bit below the Mels average. Not far below, not omg wtf is this below, but .5 on a ten point scale below. The deserts do not disappoint, not in the slightest, and I take my daughter here just to wait for, whoops... I mean just to have a Sundae.

Open 24 hours to start! Extremely delicious food as Mels always is. For those who havent been to a Mels it is a old school diner styled restaurant with burgers, sandwiches, and anything American. You get jukeboxes that each table and you can slam in a few quarters for a few plays to jam to oldies while you devour your heaven on a plate. Speed of service was quicker than expected and my milkshake had way more than the expected amount on the side (the waiter said this was an accident in the back, but including it instead of getting rid of it was notable). Busy but not packed almost all the time. A good bite on the way back from SF

terrible.... they treated me & my out of town guests like criminals all because we had different methods of payment. you should be able to spilt the bill 4ways.. so I asked to speak with the manager. an older lady came out from cooking n said she was the M.O.D. so I explained everything to her & told her we all have debit cards.. her reply was Ill do it this time n we dont want your business anymore. She knows I bring my young people from the church every week... alil hurt but I refuse to be treated ghastly & continue doing business with you... Sad to say, Im informing all my people never to do business with them again also..

Been there only once, the place looks great and the staff are real nice, but the food is real disappointing. I order a phily cheese steak sandwich and I personally think The Phily Cheese Steak Shop down the street next to Target is better. My younger daughter didnt even finish her burger, the only one satisfy was my older daughter with her meat loaf and brownie icecream. Still, we had a great time watching the Super Bowl and listening to all the great oldies.

Makisha is a very poor waitress.. I came in and order to go and the whole time she sat there talking to a table as my food sets there for 5-10 minutes I will be calling the store today to complain about this I will not come back to that store if shes there in the mornings... as I walk out right back to the table she acts like shes cleaning the table next to them just very poor and rude service

Mels is a mainstay of local family dining. The both juke boxes entertain the kids; the sports channels on the TVs entertain the parents. Nothing fancy, nothing perfect, nothing great. Its an old fashioned diner that serves average fare. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere distinguish Mels from a standard dinner. That, and the 50s decor.

Came here last night to treat the family to some desert. Four toddlers is a challenge when ever we go out but the staff made us feel very welcome. We even spilled a whole glass of water on the floor and they were quick to clean up. And when we left all the kids received balloons. Awesome Mels, awesome.

I came here to get a Banana Split and for food thats all I can review. Banana Split: It was good and fair priced and the service was quick and friendly However, he did ask to ID me when I paid with my debit card. He said it was for security reasons so maybe that place has had some issues in the past.

Original Mels diner in Pinole is the place to be after a Giants game. You want great food, service, and a party this is the place to come. The manager Sean is great and on his A game. His staff rocks and you can tell they all care as well. Great work and you get A++ from me. See you all soon....

I was served raw sausages and instead of fixing the problem they dumped them and still charged me for them. Will never return to this Mels again. I would rather drive to Walnut Creek or San Francisco those are better Mels with better much nicer and friendlier staff

Food and shakes were great, you feel like youve stepped back in time at the Original Mels in Pinole. Service was very good. Free balloons for the kids. And the ocean view from the parking lot--gorgeous. We stop by whenever were in the area.

I ordered a salad and find a cockroach in it that was still ALIVE AND MOVING. asked for the manager and she gave ma attitude and made an excuse for the bug being in ny food. I actually liked tgis place before this happened . NEVER AGAIN.

Great for late night dinners. Something for everyone. I got a breakfast special that was good. My friend was happy with his fish and shrimp plate. We both took some home because we were too full. Great experience and friendly staff.
