I wish I wouldve been able to read the reviews before we decided to stop here. unfortunately my phone was dead after spending all day hiking the beautiful Mountain. The kids were excited about dining on a train so this is where we ended up. I ordered some hot tea and when our server brought it out the mug was disgustingly dirty. Not just a little speck here or there, the inside was caked with brown gunk, as if it had never seen a dishwasher. Sent it back for a cleaner mug. My mother and I ordered the hobo stew for $14.00 and I have to say this is the worst stew I have ever had in my life! It was full of gravy, 2 thin slices of meat, 1 chunk of carrot, 2 small chunks of potato, in a bread bowl which turned to a gluey substance. I was wondering where the cabbage, celery, and onions were since on the menu those are ingredients listed. My Mother didnt get any meat in her stew at all. They also state that everything is made from scratch, Im very suspicious of this. Tasted like it was canned gravy. potatoes tasted canned to. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese. It wasnt horrible but definitely not worth the money. 2 slices of thin white bread, one slice of cheese and a handful of fries. My brother and son ordered burgers for $12. They didnt complain. We ordered dipping sauces for the fries. I noticed there was a half eaten fry in one of the sauces which I thought was odd and then began to realize it looked like they just grabbed the sauces from another table that didnt use them all! Recycle reuse i guess. Eeeew gross, I was so done at that point and couldnt wait to get the heck out of there. We left feeling ripped off, grossed out, and very unsatisfied. I wanted to warn the people walking in " DONT ORDER THE HOBO STEW!" We will never go back there again and next time we decide to visit Mt. Rainer I will definitely be checking reviews ahead of time.

Elisa, Ive read every review and all your responses, and as much as it seem you care, little correction seems to be made. I really hope instead of just replying, you actually change something here so you never get a bad review again. I made the mistake of reading these after our meal... I dont remember the verbiage but the menue "raved" about your smoked meat. My father and I both ordered the ribs. I had high expectations considering the self acolades and the price. I have to say that I was more than dissapointed. First, 4 ribs is not a $20 rib meal. Secondly, if you have good smoked meat there is little need for barbecue sauce. Ours both came smothered in sauce. Third, (and probably why there was so much sauce) there was very little meat on these bones. And the meat that was there was either tough or fatty. My wife had the Hobo stew, which had one very small piece of meat, few vegtables and a sauce (supposedly scratch) that tasted like it came from a can. There were a couple average burgers... Other than the fine service this was a disapointment. Our family is typically not very picky, and often find wonderful meals out. Ive written few reviews but had to make sure people saw this. I really and truly hope you take this to heart Elisa. You have a unique place there, and people deserve better food for what you are charging.

Weve tried this place twice in the last month. Both times were bad experiences. Their food is mediocre at best. The menu items are limited. They do not have apple juice, sourdough bread, my omelette had things in it that were not on the menu. When I asked the server if they were in fact on the menu, she said yes. I asked to see a menu and it was not listed on there. She then told me they put roasted garlic in everything, despite other items being in my omelette that werent listed. They do not honor food requests when ordering, everyone asked for their hash browns extra crispy. They came out borderline mashed potatoes. The service is slow and the food doesnt come out to everyone all at once. We got one plate of food that no one ordered because they had messed up one persons breakfast order. We had to search for our server twice. After two failed attempts, we wont be going back.

This place rocks. We stumbled in off the mountain at 10 pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was already closed and the bar was about to, but they happily seated all 8 of us in the bar and stayed open until we were finished. Super cool old funky traincar. Great food, AWESOME SERVICE. We did not get the name of the blonde bartender that helped us, but she was rad. THE RIBS are what omnivours need to be concerned with, and veggie lovers check out their grilled veggie mix, you will be surprised at the intense flavors they get. My only possible meh would be the prices are 15-20% more than what you might expect to pay, but they are in the middle of nowhere, and you can bet theres some overhead in getting those ingredients out there in the 1st place. I dont love the prices, but they make sense.

Never been here before, we decided to stop for a drink and maybe some food. We stood for 20 min. Waiting to be seated and during that time was asked 5 different times if we had been helped and how many was in our party by the same two girls. After finally being sat, we waited for over another 10 minutes before a waitress approached. We ordered two beers and a spirit, along a little food. And then we sat waiting and waiting... The table behind us had been seated first and they still hadnt received their drinks, I asked about ours and they were still not ready either. Not sure what was going on but every table near us were upset and tired of waiting. Seems like they need to get organized.. I am still waiting for our food.

As you drive down Washingtons scenic Highway 7 on your way to Elbe, roll your window down. Feel the air blowing as you pass by the beautiful Alder Lake. Now take all the money out of your wallet and grip it in your hand. Stick your hand out the window. Was that fun? Did you enjoy that? If you answered yes, then you would LOVE this restaurant. This quaint little restaurant is in a great location in the shadow of Mt. Rainier but thats really all they have going for them. Their "gas station food" is incredibly expensive ($15/plate). The service is terrible. I ordered the BBQ chicken and the waitress brought me something else and then argued with me that I did order that item. You can bet that I wont be back there.

Stopped here for dinner on a day trip with my wife to Mt. Rainier. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the smoked fried chicken. Both dishes were huge! For the price you pay you get a lot of food. It was more than we could finish. Which is a good thing! This food is delicious and you will want to take it home! The restaurant is very cute and reminds me of an old diner. Seating is plentiful and the service is great. I really like the ambiance of this place; Makes you feel at home. The rest rooms were very clean and stocked. They also had a small gift shop in the entry way which was nice. All in all I we had fun and will come back again. Thank you Railroad Dining Team for a great experience :D
