I am a sucker for hidden bars and restaurants. I had been in this back alleyway before and seen this spot and always thought that I should stop in, and finally I did after a long difficult week, The restaurant is located off Colorado Ave, behind some of the main stores like MAC and Sephora. What you walk into is this beautiful brick and cobblestone square of stores, tables and chairs, and a fountain. AKA stands out as it faces the entire square and you see the large deck that you can sit and eat on. I was greeted by friendly service who sat me immediately on the patio. I ordered a delicious Rose and looked over the menu. I decided to order the Portobello Panini with caramelized onions and steak fries. The service was top notch. The waiter was friendly and came and checked in on me frequently. The wine selection was great with a lot of mid-priced wines. There were some pricier glasses and bottles but plenty of bargains on there as well. The food was great. I think they mixed up my order and gave me the greens instead of the fries which was totally fine! The mixed greens had....mixed greens (lol) and some sweet pickle and a few other goodies in it topped with a delicious, zesty cesar dressing that was light and flavorful. The Portobello Panini was very good. It was served on a focaccia bread so it was very soft and tended to fall apart. I am not opposed to using my fork to finish my burgers/sandwiches. I am used to it as a matter of fact! I had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Max. He was so nice and it was great to get a chance to chat with him. Overall: Great service Great food Great wine Will definitely return! Great for groups, dates or for a peaceful lunch

Great place for dinner with friends or even for dates! Came here a few times already. Scottish Salmon Tartare: Very good! Raw salmon pieces on top of avocado, topped with chips. Grilled and Sauteed Calamari: This dish was different than a lot of calamari Ive had. Very interesting mix in flavors.Had a salty and sour taste to it. Great mix! Portebello Fries: Nothing can go wrong with this, unless youre really really bad at cooking. This was a very yummy appetizer! Pan seared salmon: Perfectly done. Great flavoring. Wasnt too dry. The meat just fell right off. The rice was really good too. Hangar Steak: Bomb!! Sometimes the steak isnt worth the price, but this one was. Drinks were good too. Had their Bourbon Cocktails and even my date liked it. Price is a bit up there so I wouldnt come too often. Ill definitely come for special events.

We had our rehearsal dinner on the porch of Alma De La Rosa in late March. Everything was perfect! Robert the owner was very easy to work with and Max the manager was marvelous. The planning was done over the phone so I was a bit nervous. When I arrived Friday the day of the party to see the final preparations, everything was done. The service was excellent, the food delicious, and the guests had a marvelous time. This was an occasion that you wanted the best and I think Alma De La Rosa provided that.

We came here for a friends birthday. We were seated in the private room. First, service was exceptional. The waiter was very attentive, friendly, funny, and very patient with our large group (and several noisy children). The food and wine was excellent. I tried Portobello Fries, Grilled and Sautéed Octopus, Hanger Steak, Cioppino, Spaghetti and Meatball, and 3 different desserts. Everything was tasty. Enjoyed the experience, and will definitely return next time when we are in the area.

AKA Bistro has an amazing Happy Hour. The portobello fries, macaroni and cheese and blood orange martini are a must have. Dinner is always impeccable. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I have ordered. The chefs are amazing and the weight staff is just as pleasant. My suggestion? Try something completely different than you ever have! Go out of the box. I am sure it will be DELICIOUS!

I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and the guacamole appetizer, but the side order of the French fries...well, next time Im going to tell the waiters to bring it without the salsa topping. The atmosphere is quiet which contributes to your joy of dining out. Good menu selection combining tastes of Mexican and American cuisine. Wine list is full of mostly imported brands..

Aka bistro has a great outdoor patio, but the rest of the experience was only ok. All three entrées were good, but none were in any way memorable in terms of flavor. The beer taps were all broken, which seems particularly unfortunate for a gastropub, but the beer list was rather average anyway, so I guess its no big loss.

I checked out their website first and they were exactly as they represented themselves. Everything was amazing. My friends are always wondering what I am going to send back, but they really take care of you and the food was delicious. The desserts are incredible.

Of course you need to get the portobello fries. Its a good portion, so maybe 3-4 people can share. We also had the angus burger. It was just an okay burger but was presented very nicely. The waiter was great and kept checking on us and refilling our water.

Stumbled upon this place when walking around the area. Really liked the patio and the menu so decided to check it out. Really enjoyed the food and great service. The tuna was great, as were the taco appetizers. Will definitely be back.

Enjoyed a dinner with friends at AKA Bistro. Name on google appears to have changed so not sure if owners have too but we definitely enjoyed the dining room, food and total experience. A recommended place to RSVP

Service was excellent! The meal was massive and sooooooo good! I had their pulled pork sandwich. I love the salad on the side, i love the coleslaw. Their fries is made from scratch, cut out in big chunks. ❤️

Great food, fine service, a bit pricey. Got a table for four and a high chair on a busy Saturday evening in Old Pasadena, which was a nice surprise. Very dim lighting which was fine.

Been here a couple times and nothing has really blown us away or made me think "this is really good". It is passable but not for the price.

We really like the appetizers here. Pricey but good. Wish that they had a larger beer selection. The outdoor seating is super.
