There is usually a wait, and so far Its never been a disappointment. This was my first visit here in 8~10 years and it was just like I remembered it (except the clowns and trains were turned off). We had the eggs Benedict, potato pancakes, and french toast. I think my Benedict was good, in a tie for my favorite with another breakfast place I like, and the french toast was really good. The thing that really hit it out of the part was the potato pancakes. They had cheese, onion, and some thin slices of ham. After my wife shared a bite of the dish I almost stole it from her,. There is no doubt in my mind that Im going to order the potato pancakes in the future. Im also happy with the coffee. They serve Peets, and brew it up like they recommend and dont try to cut corners. I hate it when people water down their coffee, and this was good, hot, and fresh. Finally, the bathroom is clean with a nice touch free sink and air blown hand dryer. I always judge a place by its bathroom (goes to customer service and caring about the place).

Nice groovy breakf as st spot. Pretty much the only breakfast place in Montclair. It is obviously very hip and people love to go there because there was a huge group of people standing outside waiting when we came. We ate there on a Saturday and are from out of town. I learned the hard way that youre supposed to go up to the counter and write your own name if the guy isnt there on the list. I failed to do this and somebody just walked right past me grabbed the list and wrote their name and I therefore ended up lower on the list. Even though there were 10 people ahead of me on the list it only took about 25 minutes to get in. The food was excellent and I had the corned beef hash. My wife ate some kind of Mexican omelette and she enjoyed it very much. The wait staff was excellent and extremely friendly. The cost was reasonable definitely better than San Francisco proper. Oh I forgot to mention the coffee was absolutely delicious and very strong. The bathroom was super nice too.

I can never get enough of brunch and I’m always a fan of places that have good benedicts. It’s about a 20 minute wait on a weekend morning so don’t come starving like I usually do. Coming inside, there was a cute open kitchen and diner vibe. We got the salmon and asparagus omlette, strawberry French toast, and crab cakes benedict. The salmon and asparagus omlette was a special and it was good, but nothing special. It’s asparagus and salmon in an omelet. Just that simple. The French toast was really good and wasn’t overly sweet. I saved that for “dessert”. The crab cake benedict was my favorite. It was made with real pieces of crab and the hollandaise sauce and the avocado was the perfect compliment. Overall, good place for brunch.

I had the Belgium waffle topped with strawberries, bananas and whipped cream with a side of eggs and bacon. Everything was delicious, but I had to knock a star off because their coffee was not my favorite. It was bitter and just seemed old. It didnt taste like a freshly brewed cup of coffee and that dented my eating experience a bit. Id like to bring my own in the future without being judged. The price was great, the ambiance was really cute. Theres writing on the ceiling and behind the kitchen. Really neat place. Like any good brunch spot, there was a wait and for some reason my cell service was not the best here so talk amongst yourselves. hahaha And dont give up on checking in!!

Overpriced & Underserviced Long Wait, ok its the only greasy spoon in town, so all the people who dont wat to cook are waiting to get stuffed. The food wasnt too bad but the service was sporadic at best. Our waiter never came to check on our Neal once served, or to re fill the coffee, and I had to ask another server for help with my dish, as it wasnt what I ordered, so when he changed it , it still wasnt right. (Ive learned Never to send things back twice as youre taking a big chance at that point) A simple cheap breakfast cost almost $40 at this place. Pass on this one unless you want mediocre service with ok food.

You already know you are going to wait awhile to get a table, but its totally worth it. Their food is fresh and delicious and the prices are great. My favorite dish hands down, is the sweet crepes. They are filled with softened sweetened cream cheese and topped with strawberries, bananas and strawberry syrup. The best sweet crepes Ive ever had! My second fave is the egg and chorizo scramble. Its almost impossible to find a restaurant that uses real and delicious chorizo in their eggs. Theyve nailed it! I always leave the Montclair Egg Shop full and happy!

.Had breakfast once again at our favorite place, Montclair Egg Shop with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law visiting from Seattle. BUT our favorite of the day was our waiter, Adolfo. Quick, witty and downright charming and as my husband says "tuned in". We absolutely loved the service he gave us. Next time we go to the Egg Shop we will request a table served by this fine young man, Adolfo, even if we have to wait. Hope hes successful where ever he goes but secretly wish hed be there forever. Rita, Tim, Janet and Larry Connors.

Notes: street parking only Located in cute area with plenty of shopping Area has lots of hills Credit cards are accepted Busy on weekends Family friendly Friendly staff Try the apricot jam This place has a bit of a wait even on a week day. I came here with my friend and it was okay. I think its a bit overrated if you ask me. I think what bother me the most was my food was served on a plastic plate. Parking is also a bit tough. I will give them an extra star for the apricot jam that was pretty good.

Standard breakfast fare (omelettes, waffles, etc), wonderful poached egg options (Eggs Benedict / Blackstone and others), as well as tasty Mexican Favorites section (chorizo scramble is fantastic!) The only real drawback is that this place is popular, and so wait times can exceed 30 minutes if youre going at a busy time. Its hard to count that against them though. No reservations, so just show up and put your name in.

Great local restaurant that is always packed on the weekends. Somewhat limited, but varied menu selections. A bit on the noisy side. Ive known the family that owns the restaurant for years, as our kids went to school together. Service is excellent, food quality excellent, always specials. Be prepared for 20-30 minute wait times on the weekends. Great interior. Pricing is very reasonable.

Yes, long line, but theres a reason I go here all time for brunch, and have never been disappointed. Their food is great, their service is fantastic, and prices are reasonable. Their servers are attentive, friendly, and very helpful helping picky eaters or those with dietary restrictions. I cant day enough great thi go about this place. Looking forward to this weekends Sunday brunch.

It was all right the couple of times I went, but it has one major drawback. They only give you two points of toast (a point is a 1/2 slice) and I really like to have the more traditional two slices of toast (4 points). Id go back, but this kind of little deficiency makes one wonder what else they are skimping on, and makes the breakfast experience somewhat unsatisfying.
