So as the name says Market Bar..whats a market bar. Well the concept is interesting. Half of the place is set up as a european bakery with house made sauces, soups, quiche etc for you to prepare at home. The other half is a small high-end micro restaurant with a mini oyster bar. I bought a jar of the house made pompadoro sauce to take home which was quite flavorful. My dining partner and myself decided to stay and have a few bites. We requested to sit outside as it was a nice day. Upon being seated we were offered a bottle of water in the the european style bottle with the ceramic stopper. We also were presented with squares of Foucaccia that they make in house. One was traditional tomato sauce & the other style was a herbed one with olive drizzled over the top. I was really wanting cheese but they didnt have a cheese plate, however our server (Mike) did suggest and inquire with the kitchen if they would be able to serve us the normal lunch Charturturie plate. We also sampled their oysters which were super fresh, they have Fanny bay, kummunoto, and one other I cant remember. For desert we spit a lemon tart and the lemon curd on it was so delish. Seriously I was eating it with a spoon because the filling was amazing!!!!. For a drink I decided to try the house special Blood orange Martini which was light and refreshing. I plan on going back for a full dinner...and updating my review further. Go check them out they are amazing!!! I highly recommend this place.

Merits the hype. Fabulous Food, great beverages, terrific atmosphere. The black bean soup is tasty and filling. The salads are varied. One friend swears by the chicken salad sandwich on raisin bread, another swears by the veggie melt. Now Barones is going upscale with dinner specials- some comfort-food like chicken pot pie, and some more sophisticated, like fish specials, but all Ive eaten have been delicious. Is it cheap, no, especially for specials over $15 being ordered at a counter, but but food is fresh and fine. Dont miss the homemade chocolate chip cookies, custard, scones, or cheesecakes. Many say the cappuccino is the best around, but I am partial to their sublime rich-but-not-sweet hot chocolate. If you are not here for a meal, share a cheese platter or salad. There is a reason why so many people crowd in here. We started going because it was a place that kids and adults could eat food that each liked. Be forewarned though, that is this a cafe- you order at the counter, and find your own table; the food is brought to you. The line moves fast but there is definitely a line at peak times. We enjoy the other customers, the french conversation group that seems to meet here, and the available NY Times, WS Journal, and local daily papers that collect at the bar. Good place whether you are alone or meeting friends. The garlic bread is great-- browned and buttery on top of the lengthwise-sliced baguette, but too much for one person.

I ADORE THIS PLACE :) I love going here for breakfast/brunch! Check to make sure theyre open though because a couple of times I went and they were closed ): Parking might be a little difficult, street parking or there is a parking garage nearby. They have A LOT of tables outside so SIT OUTSIDE! Its so relaxing to sit outside and enjoy your food :) FOOD: 1. Belgian Waffles with Spiced apples and Pecans: I love their plain belgian waffles but this one takes the cake! The pecans are a great because they add a nice nutty flavor and crunch to waffles and the spiced apples gives it a nice cinnamon kick and sweetness. definitely my favorite of all their waffle choices! The waffle is also pretty big and its nice and fluffy :) 2. Smoked Salmon Bagel Plate: This a favorite breakfast/brunch staple of mine and its really well done here. If you want something salty and savory, go with this dish. The salmon had a nice smoked flavor and the plate comes with capers, onions, tomatoes, and cream cheese. Its delicious! And they give a pretty good amount. 3. Their pastries were all pretty good, nothing too special. DRINKS: 1. Frosted Mocha: rich, decadent, and smooth. I love this drink, but you should definitely share because it was hard for me to finish it alone. 2. Mexican Mocha: I wish it had a little more spice to it, but it was pretty good.

I recommend coming at about 9 am for breakfast/brunch, 2 pm for a late lunch, and 5 pm for dinner if you would like to avoid long lines. Dont hesitate to commend the kitchen staff (if you speak Spanish thats a plus) because they have an almost thankless job, and its always stressful. I would know because I was a server. Definite try: - any Belgian waffle - salmon bagel plate - "Borrones Famous Chicken Salad Sandwich" on raisin bread - fresh mozzarella (seasonal) - roast chicken - turkey/veggie melt - basil melt - pastrami melt - any cheese or meat plate - quiche - lasagna *Live music is played on Fridays from 8 pm to 10 pm, but come early because the seats get taken quickly. Borrone MarketBar has also opened, and it is just around the corner. Its gotten very popular for dinner.

Food was good, very expensive for what you got, service not exactly great. You get a number to take to your table and assume youre honing be served but you need to go up and get all the refreshments all the desserts so if you have three hands you might be able to carry think your table in one trip. I sat through the entire meal waiting for my drinks to be served and then was told oh you shouldve picked it up at the counter. Rather than getting me a fresh drink, they just handed me the one that was sitting on the counter for 20 minutes. I was never told I had to pick up my refreshments I was told to take my number and sit at the table. If the prices were more reasonable and the service met my expectation, this restaurant probably deserves a higher rating.

For a regular Im sure this place is a solid staple, but as a wanderer I found it a challenge. Lets start with the good. Clean, open air patio, helpful staff, and a genuine feel. Now the challenge. As someone who knew very little about this place I felt lost. I tried to grab a seat on the patio and order but was told I needed to go inside and order. When I approached the counter the board displaying todays specials but no mention of a menu. I ordered a #2 scramble (eggs, potatoes, and onions) which had a decent flavor profile but was under seasoned. The portion size would have fed a petit appetite but left me still hungry. Would definitely recommend if your hungry to order a side with your scramble.
