Setting - Simply beautiful, on the grounds of the Stanford Inn. Casement windows overlook lush gardens and the ocean. Lovely fire in the dining area and pleasant, clean tables adorned with pretty, fresh-cut bouquets. Menu - Divided into two parts. One side for vegans, the other for ovo-lacto vegetarians. I had previously eschewed dining at the Ravens because I had seen their dinner menu and felt the ingredients were too exotic and fancy to offer the plain, good vegan cooking I make at home. However, was pleasantly surprised by their breakfast menu and chose to dine there. I ordered the waffle which was crisp and tasty and came with warmed maple syrup and a small serving of a delicious apple compote. My husband chose the tofu scramble with mixed veggies. Very well prepared and savory. It was accompanied by roast russet and sweet potatoes that were delicately flavored and delicious. Price- For the above breakfast, including tip, we paid about $35.00. Because this was a special treat for ourselves, we didnt feel we had overpaid. Portions were ample, the food was served promptly and the staff was friendly and helpful. The ambiance was truly pleasant and memorable. Dining out can be a nightmare for vegans. So-called vegan meals at traditional restaurants fill one with dread, and even restaurants billing themselves as vegetarian often lack a staff trained in the basics of veganism. Our previous experiences with nearly all of the vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Northern California have been bad ones. Bland, heavy food or ridiculously esoteric ingredients (vegans cant live on exotic mushrooms decorated with flowers, after all!). Additionally, the atmosphere of the majority of the veg-oriented restaurants weve patronized has been the opposite of elegant, and your waiter is likely to have tattoos on his forehead or a large nose ring...not appetizing where food is being prepared. Not so with The Ravens. We felt they were making a truly special effort to provide their guests with an enjoyable, beautiful dining experience and we commend them for being one of the first restaurants in California to give vegans an honored seat at the table.

Ive enjoyed the waffles pancakes french toast and stuffed crepes for breakfast. I also find the muffins and scones they create each day to be really tasty. I love this Resort however the dinners are starting to leave me less satiated. Im not sure if is because the menu has not changed over the past 3 years or if the food always left a little to be desired in terms of flavor. I tend to enjoy vegan dinner menu 4 to 5 times a week, so I am familiar and have a pallet that appreciates vegan cuisine. I do have a lot of options living in the East Bay when it comes to vegan delicacies, so perhaps I am just being picky and thats the reason why I find dinner entrees and most savory breakfast options to be lacking in flavor.

Now 100% vegan. If you are looking for great food, this is the place to come! My wife and I stayed at the Stanford Inn for the better part of a week, so we got to try a variety of their offerings. Some were better than others. The best were absolutely fantastic--the best vegan food weve ever had. The atmosphere was great, with the exception of the negativity emanating from a few of the more "entitled" guests. The service was OK. Photos and sample menus are available on their website. You know, coming to Mendocino, I had no idea that the would food would be this low quality. For someone who is not a vegan, you have made it impossible for me to go vegan with this treacherous food. Apparently the ravioli was the best on the menu which I had. The tomato paste from the can cover the entire pasta and tasted like as if it was prepared in Safeway. The rest of my familys dishes were disappointing too! Between the 10 of us, cost $600 and Im not even goddamn full! TOTAL RIPOFF

The place was way too pretentious... I just cant. The place itself is beautiful but I was treated like shi#. The hostess at the restaurant was so rude!!!! And the service was not great, it wasnt even good but they charged like it was. I really wish my experience here was better. I wanted to love it but you cant treat people badly and think its okay. Sorry, raven restaurant, I will not go back or refer to any family and friends.

This place is REALLY pet friendly. Your puppy can relax while you enjoy a delicious vegan meal in a soothing, cozy atmosphere. Delicious fresh food and professional friendly service. Wish there were more like the Ravens in the country.

Good vegan, gluten free options. Ravioli had 4 on the plate that were good, but I could have ordered a salad also. The sauce was a bit bland for my taste, but I like spice. The lack of spice may be intentional.
