Probably the Worst Experience I have ever had at any restaurant. First: We arrived and the waiter placed us in a booth, we had our infant with us and tried to get a high chair or use our own. He said we couldnt have one, and we couldnt use our own on the chair we wanted. He said to put our baby in the booth... We were upset and started to leave. When I asked, "Are you sure there are no spots for a baby High chair to be sat down?" He said he had only 2 spots he could put us in the entire restaurant that they can use a High Chair... Both were taken. Fortunately I spotted 3 chairs in a row at their sit down counter and was able to put her chair adapter onto the chair as a high chair and not be in the way of anyone. If you have a Baby chances are you wont get seated for an hour or more... By the way it was not busy in there, we came after 1:30pm Second: We ordered toast for our daughter. It came out barely toasted. It was a total of 4 pieces of white and 2 of sourdough from my meal I ordered. I asked to have it better toasted and the waitress forgot to grab it. She then returned with 2 pieces of burnt toast and said here, its well done... 2 pieces instead of the 6 total I was suppose to have, and she hadnt returned with it until we were ready to box things up to go. Third: Our bill..... AKA Grand Theft Pancakes... When we had ordered, had originally had Elena as a server. We couldnt make up our minds on which pancakes to order. She said we could choose one of each as part of a three stack. She then came back and said that she would serve them on separate plates because it would be better that way. We thought what a wonderful idea to be able to try out different types as a single stack. Well Elena left and they charged us a hell of a lot. $85.00 was our total. Lydia, the new server, had charged us for the pancakes as individual pancakes at $7.95 - $8.95 per pancake, and $9.95 for a short stack, there wasnt even an option in the menu for a single pancake or short stack and this blew my mind as we ordered a total of 6 pancakes, that we were told that we would have counted as 2 stacks. Are you kidding me???: So after I explained to Lydia our new waitress what happened... she said she had to call the owner to get approval to fix things... Why not just ask your manager??? Instead of fixing things they offered a 20% discount. When I said, "Are you kidding me?" The waitress Lydia stated... do you not have enough funds to pay your bill? Completely ignoring the fact that they were ripping us off and insulting us instead. After she said 5 times that shes just the waitress and she has no control over anything, for the first time in my life I left a 0 tip. Sadly I was trying this restaurant as my Birthday Breakfast, what a horrible horrible experience. This place takes the cake for worst service in my history of eating out.

If youre just looking for someplace quick to eat, or like traditional breakfast food, you should not go here. Quick notes: long wait, small cramped eating space, and menu items are far from traditional. The long of it: this place was recommended and I after going, I see why. Its one of those Hollywood places to go to, to say youve been there. When we arrived, we had to wait outside and down the block, not in front of the restaurant because they have outside seating as well (I would NEVER eat at the outside tables there, they are too close to the passersby and the cars parked on the street.) We were directed to an area by a tree that had been recently urinated on, and that was not a good first impression. Hollywood has a lot of homeless people and they camp out any- and everywhere, and it was obvious that this tree area had been a recent homeless hangout or just some random idiot who couldnt hold it. The wait wasnt too long (be sure your party is with you when youre called, they will NOT seat you otherwise). Once we were seated (at the counter), it was tight but doable, not a bad thing at all. After seeing various orders around us, we decided to go for the French toast and the pancakes (I ordered the banana pancakes - OO LA LA!!). When the pancakes came, they were HUGE - DO NOT TRY TO FINISH THEM BY YOURSELF, this is Mission Impossible!! They dont serve you one large pancake, they serve you three. Two of us were only able to eat HALF and we were hungry. The French toast came out very tasty, I would order it again in a heartbeat. Neither of the orders required syrup, in my opinion. The waitstaff were very friendly and engaging, although it seemed like they only had male waiters there, but maybe Im tripping. Anyway, I would suggest you go there at least once, but if you get the pancakes, bring your whole team!

Id been wanting to go to The Griddle Cafe for some time now. Breakfast is one of my 3 favorite meals of the day. I found out about this place online and read a lot of really good reviews. I prepared myself for the epic wait everyone keeps going on about, but that was the least of my troubles. Granted, you get seated a lot quicker when youre a party of one. Before I went, I perused the menu on the The Griddle Cafe website and was salivating at the huge selection of breakfast sweets and treats. Id seen pictures of their plate-sized pancakes and knew that thats precisely what I wanted, it IS The Griddle Cafe after all. I wasnt sure what to expect price wise because there were conflicting gauges on various websites and The Griddle doesnt list the prices on theirs. When I got there, I was shocked that the pancake I wanted was $10.95, no eggs, no bacon. Let it be known, you get 3 of these huge flapjacks. Cool. Nope. Three plate-sized banana filled pancakes doused in powdered sugar with one small scoop of butter. So dry. Even after trying to slather the butter on just half a cake, still dry. When I took my first bite of my "brown sugar-baked banana" pancakes, I stopped and thought, "Huh, Ive made this better at home." The bananas tasted-nothing like they had been baked in brown sugar and the pancake itself was just so dry, Id have been better off eating cardboard. There were also remnants of someones chocolate chip pancakes burnt to the edges of mine. I think, The Griddle Cafe is one of those hotspots everyone goes to so that later they can tell everyone that theyve been going there "since before it was cool." I can sum up my entire experience by saying: 1 person, 3 pancakes, 1 egg, and a few slices of bacon = $23.00. When did breakfast get so out of control?

MAKE SURE YOU HASSLE THE HOST!!!! Theyll give you priority when seating. We came with the expectation of waiting long. When I added our name to the list, the wait was at an hour. I saw people come after me larger, smaller and same size parties, that were sat before my group of 3. After being seated by the door, we realized that the people that kept coming in to hassle the host were seated right away. So, again, MAKE SURE YOU HASSLE THE HOST!!!! After waiting an hour and a half we were seated at a small 2 person table, we asked to put an order of pancakes in right away and the response was "do you know your whole order is, because we dont like to split the order." We were adamant about them just putting that in first, so they did. The pancakes are tasty, but not blow your mind good. The portions are insane. No one can finish that much food in a sitting and even though you can take them home, its not like pancakes are good the next day. Instead of wasting that food it should be for every order you place we will feed one of the local homeless. Once we figured out what else we wanted, we waved the waiter down and added the slash scramble. I wish we hadnt because it was flavorless. I eat eggs every morning and these were by far the blandest eggs I have ever had. Two stars only for the pancakes, everything else was bad!
