Yet another chain I got to try since its opening near the office a few weeks ago. Ive been hearing a lot of Habit vs. In-n-Out arguments, but to me theyre completely different species, able to coexist. I cant imagine craving an In-n-Out burger and thinking a Habit burger would assuage that craving, and vice versa. Theyre not really a typical fast food joint either; Id say theyre kind of a medium-speed food joint, a la Chipotle, Panera, etc. Consequently they offer more than burgers; they are also in the sandwich and salad biz, so thats nice if some people youre with arent in the mood for burgers. But hey, on my first visit I knew I needed to get the burger so I could form a baseline opinion. That said, I shouldve gotten just a "regular" burger but I didnt. Their Swiss mushroom char burger sounded just too good, and I got it "protein-style," no less, which meant no bun. Overall, a nice thick patty that was cooked medium (even though they didnt ask how Id like it cooked--if you have special requirements you might consider mentioning it), with a healthy helping of swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms, yum. Overall the flavor was very good, definitely a fan. The iceberg lettuce wrap was thicker than I thought itd be though, which resulted in quite a lot of lettuce, and it got kind of drippy. Not sure if Id do that again; next time Id like to evaluate the bun anyway, since thats what turned me off 5 Guys--their weird crumbly buns! Anyhoo, the order of fries Id gotten were just so-so. They seemed like the standard frozen variety to me, not especially crispy, either, which is one of the benefits of the frozen stuff. Its a clean, attractive environment and the servers all seemed very nice, so Im OK with giving it 4 stars. Ill definitely be back to try some more of their stuff!

This is only my 2nd time at this place and the food is good but im very upset with the service. I called in my order and was told that they prefer payment over the phone with a debit or credit card so i paid with my debit card. The guy who placed my order told me that my card was accepted and my food will be ready at 12:20p. When i arrived to pick up my order I was told very loud by the waitress that they received a call from corporate and my card was declined. I absolutely knew this was not true because my card never get declined because I always have more than enough money on it. I placed my order again, used my card and as I thought it worked. Im not sure what kind of f#$% system Habit is using but it sucks!!! I didnt appreciate that at all an will probably never patronize this place again!!! And for future damn reference, when someone card is declined thats very personal and your damn waiter/waitress should not yell it out for everybody to hear because its embarrassing. Should have went with my first mind and got me some 5 Guys!!!

A lot of people compare The Habit Burger to In N Out or Five Guys, even Farmer Boys. I think theyre doing their own thing, so Im not going to compare. Ive eaten at this Habit twice and tried their burgers, tuna sandwich, and steak sandwich. What I like a lot is the variety each item is allowed. With the sandwiches you choose your bread, cheese, and sauce. The downside is that it is not a welcome sight to the undecided. Regardless, if you sally forth, youll have a very tasty burger or sandwich. Ive also enjoyed their onion rings and sweet potato fries. Also noteworthy is the chocolate malt. PERFECT. Im not sure what people are expecting with burger joints nowadays. I think places like Slaters 50/50 and gastropubs have ruined a good everyday burger. Not everything is gourmet. Somethings are perfectly ordinary. The Habit makes food that is perfectly ordinary, and thats good! Unfortunately for this location the parking lot also services a Jersey Mikes, Starbucks, and a hotel so parking is stupid.

The Habit is my absolutely favorite place for burgers. They even beat out In-n-Out! The Santa Barbara charburger and the pastrami sandwich are my go-to items when ordering. The charburger has avocado and swiss cheese on sourdough, and the bread for the pastrami sandwich taste like Texas toast minus the garlic! The shakes are ok, but if youre a big fan of ice cream shakies Id recommedn you skip this one. The shakes arent bad, theyre just nothing to write home about. The burgers are tasty, you get a nice bit for your money, and they even have a convenient website that allows you to customize your meal and order online. Seriously, this is the best time-saver ever. This location is always packed during lunch, but if you order online you just walk right up to the "pick up" window and get your bag. You dont even need to take out your wallet --you pay at time or ordering.

I used to go to The Habit Burger Grill for lunch once in a while when I was working as it was closed to work. The Barbara Style Char was my favorite until the latest visit. This time the burger patties were shaped more like flattened meat balls. There were rather small and thick. There was meat only at the middle of the burger. Once I pulled out the tooth picks, the burger fell apart. While the burger tasted OK, it was almost impossible to pick up and eat. I should have returned that burger and asked for a new one. The place is dog friendly as there is patio seating.

ordered no mayo & Swiss on one, no lettuce & American on the other, got 2 burgers w/American cheese and both with gobs of mayo and neither had lettuce. When I approached Michael who said hes the manager, he argued with me (when I showed receipt w/ correct order) then lied (or misspoke??) and said we told him that the receipt special requests were incorrect. What baloney and what BAD customer service. Better check your orders!!! Our order taker got it exactly right, what happened after that...we had to catch a flight, nothing offered for our wrong order.

Its VERY rare that I eat a hamburger anymore, so on that occasion, I figured why not The Habit? Heres why not.. Salt.. Their char burger makes up for flavor by adding tons of salt. What ever flavor might have been had by grilling the meat was buried in SALT seasoning. Adding insult to injury, they revert to non-combo pricing if you ask them for half fries/half rings, and the portion of both is meager. Forgetaboudit.. Try 5 guys or just about anyone else. In and out with extra lettuce, tomato and grilled sliced onion.. Much better! And cheaper!

Five stars with better fries. Very good lettuce wrapped cheeseburger, one of the best. Fries not as good - a bit hard, a bit tasteless. Counter service fast and friendly. No WIFI. By the way, its the Santa Barbara Burger- thats where the Habit had its start. In a comment, it was incorrectly stated as the Santa Fe Burger. Mistakes do happen, as we have seen in some of these reviews.

Be careful when you order here! The cashiers will try to add things to your order to charge you more (adding avocado and cheese, etc). LISTEN TO MY ORDER AND FOLLOW IT! Youre getting paid $10+/hr and you still cant follow directions?? This is why minimum wage shouldnt be raised! Why do you deserve a raise when you cant even do your job at your current pay rate??
