Chased out like I was a criminal and child As a Veteran, Gay man, and a Corporate lawyer for 2 non profits I am shocked that I was just chased out of Hot Java for not immediately ordering. I sat for a total of 8 minutes based on my last call before entering. Then was approached by a bitchy sassy attitude filled man that said "I noticed you have not purchased anything" They conversation went down hill quickly. I was accused of using resources and not paying for anything. Now, I grew up in Long Beach, started going to Hot Java when it first opened. Moved back to LB 3 months ago after many years away. Since then I have gone there and had coffee and snacks(as in 3 days last week or more). Tried to talk to another worker but was scolded and told to listen like I was a child. "If youre not going to listen then goodbye" WOW what happen to respect, kindness, and dignity towards patrons. I am at a loss about this treatment and harassment. For many years I touted this place as "a great friendly local coffee house". Times change and now I will continue to spread the nastiness of what I endured.

My first visit to HOT jave was when I first moved to Long Beach in 2014. It is definitely convenient to my place. Sadly, that is about the ONLY positive thing I can say about HOT java. It is very noisy! They host many different gay senior citizen groups and the are quite loud. The golden girls on speed is not an exzaduration. The employee are mostly friendly with the exception of the gay man who parafes around the coffee house in his Daisy Duke shorts. He is very rude and nasty! I am not sure he still works there? The coffee is burnt and the danishes stale. I found mold on my muffin. Thankfully I found it before I ate it. Go to HOT java at your own risk. If you do I highly recommend make sure you examine your food closely before eating it.

As far as cleanliness and quality of mooproduct served, I give it 5 stars. But when it comes to the staff and way of doing certain things, I give it 1 star. The staff is snobby (when they of all people should NOT be giving anyone any sort of ugly treatment as they arent more than average looking or bright enough) and treat anyone less than middle class like herpes by tolerating them while around while trying to get rid of them fast as they can. But hey, at least there is bad ass wifi and a smoking area outside... Yeah, thats bitchin.

I can not say enough about Hot Java! The owner, Ken, has created a sanctuary where people can gather and sip delicious Bi-Chai, tea, espresso or any number of their specialty drinks in an atmosphere that is welcoming and feels like home! If you are hungry, the display case has a variety of gorgeous pastries and even some healthy choices that are to die for. They serve breakfast and lunch featuring things like avocado toast or an incredible chicken pesto paninni. You will not be disappointed when you visit Hot Java!

Its really a kewl place to go, and the people are very friendly! Theres all different types, and sure, some might be a little on the happy gay side, so what?! And you can sit and watch people walking their doggies along the Broadway, over to the park. With the beachy weather, its just a FUN place to visit, and have some delicious java and sandwhiches. Im going there again -- food and friendly atmosphere are great! I hear they have a biker night on Tues. Sure beats that Stifbucks, too, way more affordable!

Im here right now. And it feels like a nice relaxing place. The coffee is great. Im hoping they can make the jump to 5 stars. Its kinda like a game. 3 elements. [1]free space (I feel the space it free but the last review concerns me) [2]innovation (they have great wifi and a ATM) [3]open source (yes) all and all Ive been treated well here :) really rooting for these guys!!!

I visit this coffee house numerous times a week. I love this place more then the giant chains because their ingredients are of much better quality. When I order the other chains equivalent drinks it taste nothing like Hot Javas. My drink of choice is the caramel macchiato and its just really rich and creamy. Give this place a try if you want high quality coffee.

Friendly people, good food, great staff! I wish they would update the website with the food menu though. I was looking for a place with food and if I hadnt been there before I would have skipped this place and gone somewhere else where they had a menu. I like the selection of music and not too loud for conversation. Good ambience.

The old raspy voice Barista who looks like a tweaker accused me in front of other customers of looking through the sex ads on Craigslist. I was emailing Craigslist postings to my unemployed sister! These "employees" need to mind their own business!!! It wasnt a porn site, it was craigslist you retard!!!

Best place in town. Not only are the drinks delicious but you can create something new from all there flavors. They have tables out side which is great for people watching, and comfy couches when you need some study time. The staff is great and friendly best part they know my drink. Lol love this place

Honestly they have good food not made in House but their customer service is awful and not worth a single penny. Go to Deja Brew, the spot next door. A great mom and pop store for cheaper. They are nice to their customers. Thats my plan. Bad job today Hot Java. You have lost two daily loyal customers.

Cozy feel with indoor or outdoor seating. Good, fresh, hot coffee. Options for food, too, and excellent location kitty-corner from the park that has Farmers market on Saturday mornings. The same people have been there for years. Good feel-at-home type local coffee shop.

Super friendly staff, very helpful. Great atmosphere inside. Lovely little fireplace area with couches. Tasty pastries in the case with reasonable prices on my favorite items. You get the wifi password on your receipt. Handy. Will be back to this one!
