I was taken here by a friend a few months ago when the weather was perfect. We sat outside with flowers and shrubs giving every table a sense of privacy. (Although it is on a main street in La Verne) There are so many choices on the menu it is hard to make a choice. After much perusal of the menu, I selected Farfalle Al Gamberretti. My dinner companion ordered a sort of Italian surf and turf. We were planning on dessert so we didnt order appetizers or salads. Our dinner arrived even before we had a chance to catch up with each other. Mine came in a large pasta bowl. It was delicious! My pasta had at least 15-20 large shrimp, asparagus tips, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and roasted garlic. The portion could have fed 2 very hungry men. I couldnt have ordered better. My companions dinner looked very good too. He had a filet that was huge, a lobster tail, mashed potatoes, green beans and a half tomato with seasonings and panko breadcrumbs. The steak was cooked to order, much too well done for me but came the way he preferred. Needless to say we both had leftovers to take home. Our plan to get the Tiramisu to share for dessert was thrown out the door. The food was so good, we didnt have room for anything else. We will be returning so next time I will for sure order the Tirimisu. If you want some food, whole and prepared impeccably, Try this restaurant in the heart of Old La Verne, you wont be disappointed.

Ive been eating at Cafe Allegro since the mid 90s and simply love this place. Dinner time is wonderful. Its a small, rustic Italian eatery lit by candles and decorated with wine bottles available with your meal. Its a very romantic place and the food is unbelievable! In the old days, even the dishes were more rustic being handmade, but today they are simple and elegant. If you want to feel like youre visiting an authentic Italian bistro, this is the place. Its not an Americanized Italian restaurant like Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. This is an authentic Italian Bistro. No reservations are necessary, but at dinner time there can be a wait because the place is small. The only day you must have a reservation is Valentines Day because this place is super romantic. We live in South Orange County, but whenever we are in the area we stop in and eat here. Its worth it. If you get the chance, try the chicken ravioli with mushroom cream sauce. Its incredible.

Unfortunately I had the worst experience here! The food was good, but I have never had a more uncomfortable interaction with a waitress. Our waitress name was Amanda, oh boy was she unpleasant. First, we ordered an appetizer from an older blonde waitress who then gave us to Amanda. Amanda rudely came over to us and said "so is that all you guys are getting?" Umm... what? I am so sorry to waste your time miss Amanda with ordering more than one course. Then when I asked her if they had bread in their restaurant ( we had been sitting for >20 minutes and were hungry by this point and had not been brought anything.) She then gave me a very rude look and said " Oh, you want bread before your appetizer?" She continued to be rude and unkind for the rest of the evening and made me feel very uncomfortable. How unfortunate! We will NOT be back.

Absolutely delicious. We are visiting CA and stopped here just because we happened to see an advertisement for it. It was EXCELLENT! The service was fast, courteous, and accurate. The food was superb. My wife had a salad that she loved. I had a seafood combination with pasta that was out of this world, and our daughter greatly enjoyed her fettuccine Alfredo. As a special treat, the waitress was also beautiful! :)

im 22 and live locally around town and am dropping in occasionally to this place. The food is amazing, love the atmosphere and the girls are so hot its like its a requirement to get the job there! especially the short brunette girl that works both Caffe Allegros! anyways if youre looking for a great place to eat check this place out I know you wont be disappointed. and get their garlic bread its bomb!

Hands down the best food in the whole city. If they are busy, you might have to wait a little bit, but every second is worth it. Ive tried at least 15 different items that qualify as the best Italian food Ive ever had. The lunch specials are VERY REASONABLE as well. You cant find that quality of food for that price anywhere! If you havent tried it, youre missing out!

We love it here! We usually start with a cheese plate and Alegro salad. For our entre we get the salmon...very tasty. We prefer the patio, very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend it!!!

Out party of 10 + 2 toddlers had a great waitress at 5:00 today. Food was great and we were glad to sit outside and not be pressured to leave. Thats why we came back tho its a little drive.
