Really great dining experience. The brewery/restaurant is casual but doesnt skimp on quality and service. As you would imagine, there are number of beers on tap and you can also get them as flights. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, though a little pushy. We got the poutine to start... which was absolutely AMAZING. The gravy was full of umami flavor and perfectly savory. The pork belly had the perfect proportion of fat to lean and added great flavor and texture to the fries. Every bite was heaven. The pork chops is a great deal. You get two pieces of beer brined pork chops with mashed potatoes, their famous "firecracker" sauce, and veggies. One of my pork chops was cooked perfectly and tasted great. But the other one wasnt brined properly and was overcooked. We also got the roast beef sandwich, which was delicious. No complaints there. Despite the pork chop snafu, I was pretty impressed that the waitress brought over samplers of different beers to pair with each of our dishes. In terms of food ingenuity, Karl Strauss tends to be a bit Asian fusion-y, which is played out but still a solid bet in terms of flavor. If youre in La Jolla and cant get into the other exclusive restaurants, Karl Strauss is a great last minute find.

The atmosphere and decor were very fun. (child friendly) Staff was super friendly and helpful to me, being from out of town. The mango chicken salad was the best dish on our table. The raved about Mac n Cheese was not my favorite- almost too cheesy... if thats possible. My burger patty was on the dry side and the first few bites were all bun due to the patty being smaller than the bun. But, this restaurant is most similar to BJs but, based on my experience I would choose the nation wide chain BJs over Karl Stauss. The locals seemed to really love this place.... so it may be worth another visit.

I had a wonderful experience at Karl Strauss due entirely from the wonderful service, delicious food, great atmosphere and surrounding area. Although this place is definitely more for beer aficionados (which I am not) the waitress was very thorough and knowledgeable of beers that pair well with our food and was even kind enough to bring us various samples. For those of you that prefer wine or liquor over the beer, I can vouch for the cocktails being equally delicious and well balanced. Likewise there is plentiful selection of foods ranging from Tofu Curries to Shrimp Po Boys. Great place!

My wife and I found this place while were sticking around. The place is cozy and comfortable, the staff is friendly, there are wooden tables by wide windows with street view, a wide choice of on tap beers and good food. We got a Moquite Chicken and a Smocked Gouda to eat, they were tasty and well cocked, and I chose the Red Trolley Ale to drink, its an excellent on tap beer. The service was fast and the waitress was so kind and gentle. So, if you are in La Jolla and you want to eat something quickly in a enjoyable place you know where to go.

Visiting from the east coast- Great experience! Our server, Brandon, was awesome! Perfectly described each beer to us, his recommendations for which beer went with our food were spot-on. He also gave us free sample beers. All of the beers here are top notch. Definitely recommend the chili fries and the pizza dough end thingys (forget what theyre called). A brewery with great service, food and beer. Resonable prices as well. Highly recommended! P.S.- La Jolla is absolutely beautiful

There is nothing to like about this place. I was here for a mini reunion. Parking was difficult. There is no sign where one may park. The sign was inside the parking structure you wouldnt think to park there because it says Morgan Stanley. The Matre d should be outside or put a sign where to park. Since theres no valet. I was given a stub for 2 hour free parking. It didnt work so I have to pay for parking. Lousy system! Fix it.

Stopped by for happy hour 3-6pm. Great selection of craft beer and appetizers. We ordered the lime pepper fries, humus, buffalo boneless wings and cauliflower. They were all amazing and cost $5 a piece. Waitress was nice and accomodating. Foods was out quickly. Great atmosphere. Best thing is that happy hour menu available throughout the restaurant, and not just the bar. Highly recommend and would definitely come back.

My boyfriend and I visited this place in accident, but found out this place has nice beer, cozy atmosphere, and great food. (I dont drink, but according to him, the beer is rich and smooth) The waiter we met the night is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, but not annoyed (even we came late and being the last 2 guests). They have really good vegetarian burger Ive ever had, love this place!

Do yourself a favor and try Karl Strauss Brewing company. I had a flight of beers and a couple samples and also got a farmhouse burger which I recommend highly. The beer and food are amazing and it is only outdone by their stellar service. I just moved to San Diego and have been looking for new regular hangouts and this will definitely be visited frequently!

Amazing craft beer! Go during their happy hour and stay until their cask opening. The waitress we had brought us different samples so that we could try different beers before we bought a full pint and boy did we buy pints! If you are a mac and cheese fan, look no further! The piggy bank combines the 2 best things: Mac & Cheese and bacon!

This is a consistent unch spot for me. Great beer, good food, super consistent, service is friendly. The only reason they get four stars is cause they only serve meatloaf on Wednesday. Serving meatloaf on wednesday is like only getting love from your girl once a week...not cool. Serve meatloaf everyday and you earn your extra star guys.

Great food and great beer. I had the double IPA and a "San Diego" IPA, and both were excellent. My wife had the barrel-aged quadruppel, which she really enjoyed. The food was really good as well - I really enjoyed the fish tacos. Everyone in our group enjoyed eating here.

Despite this being a chain, they have really good craft beers and many types to choose from. Food was good, but nothing particularly special. If you want good food, lots of beer options and a reasonable price, theres probably no better place in LA Jolla.

Great service. The staff gave us a nice table in the corner for our late lunch with for small kids and brought multiple rounds of samples of three in house brews. Food was good. The kids portions were huge, took 1/2 back to the hotel for their dinner.

Great Place to eat and enjoy tasty, good beer! The service is absolutely terrific. They even offered us a free beer tasting during and after lunch. So if you are in La Jolla Karl Strauss is an absolutely Must Go!

Awesome beer and food selection at prices that are much more reasonable than most of La Jolla. We ate there two nights in a row and were happy both times.
