I ordered a Mediterranean Turkey sandwich at the La Bou in Folsom. The menu in the store explicitly stated that the sandwich was to be served on Olive Bread. Taking the order to go and returning home I discovered that the sandwich was on Walnut bread. I am allergic to walnuts and luckily noticed the nut before eating the sandwich. I called the store to alert them to the discrepancy and was told that "We always serve it on that bread." At no point was I told, asked or notified that there was a change from what the menu stated. I did not have time to return to the store and the Supervisor (who did not give her name) told me over the phone that the only thing they would be able to do is remake the sandwich if I could return immediately. This is absolutely unacceptable. Warning to all those who have food allergies the people at La Bou will do nothing to notify you of changes made from what the menu claims, I sincerely hope that this rant will prevent someone from a hospital visit.

I have always liked the food at Labou, however the service is not up to par at this particular one. The lady who made our sandwich had an attitude with my friend and the person in charge of making coffee refused to make one until our food order was at the register. Why? After paying $25 plus for two combos and two drinks, the cashier forgot to charge for extra espresso, and demanded 75¢. When I asked who the manager was, the cashier pointed to the person making coffee. There is nobody to complain to because the management is apparently part if the problem. When my friend asked for a togo box, it was tossed at her. Niether one of us will be returning to this Labou.

This La Bou location was our go-to location while we lived in Folsom temporarily. I have to say that compared to a couple of other locations we have visited since moving that this one has been the best in terms of the quality of the food, the service and the selection - with their having some menu items that other locations do not offer. We enjoy their breakfast bagels, omelettes and the Vietnamese sandwich. I ordinarily lost the struggle to leave without buying a baked item. Strange that other people have found the customer experience lacking because my experience has always been a good one.

The best thing about this place is that it is healthier than a lot of other places nearby, but for what you get the prices suck. The food is nothing special, and the service is almost always slow. Last time I went in I was second in line, it took about 5 minutes to even be acknowledged by an employee who was very rude when I asked about the contents of one of the sandwiches, and then once they took my order I still had to wait at least another 10 minutes for my order of a single sandwich and salad to be ready. If it was dirt cheap I wouldnt expect much, but its not.

Food is awesome, service is terrible and rude. They didnt have bow tie pasta on the menu, but I saw it being served so I asked for it, but they werw so rude and stone face when I asked for some, setting is clean and plenty of room, they close at 4:30pm.

The salad that i had was the "Very Shrimpy Caesar Salad" and it didnt really meet my expectations for the first time there, the shrimp was frozen and not cooked fresh and had very little of the shrimp, and the salad was a solid 3 star over all.

Its definitely the best La Bou Ive been too. The family that runs it is so nice and they truly love their customers. I really enjoy their almond croissants and blueberry scones.
