Great place. Lots of choose it yourself options, and lots of very inventive possibilities on the menu. The quality of the ingredients is very good, especially the dogs and sausages. To the extent that theres a difference, they buy the "dogs" from (I beleive) Vienna, while the "sausages" are homemade. Because there are so many options (in excess of a million possible combinations), its impossible to talk meaningfully about all of them, All of the links are at least excellent, but the homemade Bratwurst deserves particular mention, and so does the homemade Ghost Pepper sausage. The bratwurst is good even by Wisconsin standards. nuff said. The Gost Pepper sausage is a chili-heads dream. It somehow manages to hit the line of being VERY hot for civlians, but a bit on the mild side for chil heads. In any case, just the right amount of ghost pepper so you can taste the fruitiness without being overwhelmed by heat. I particularly like it as a Chicago Dog, or in the guise of a Green Monster. The O.G. Slaw Dog (go with the standard Chicken sausage) is in the category of "Who knew?" The TNT dog is a gut-busting overdose which should be experienced at least once. If youre really into self-abuse get it chimi-changa style with one of the spicier dogs/sausages. Take your time and read the menu very carefully. Even if you cant see something you had in mind, its probably written there somewhere. The only egregious lack Ive encountered so far is NY style red onions. Slaw Dogs is not without flaws, but they are mercifully minor. Prices are fair for what you get, but certainly arent low. Service can be a little slow; especially if theyre busy.. Some of the menu suggested dogs have so many ingredients and are so overstuffed that theyre better with a knife and fork. Bottom line: Wonderful and Highly Recommended. . See you there, BDL

I have to say that The Slaw Dogs in Duarte is one of the best places to eat in the neighborhood. At first when they started to offer a wider range of items on their menu, I questioned their focus but now I am thankful they did. Every time I go in there the staff is very friendly (except for the serious looking guy back in the kitchen ;) and the food is super tasty. Their Ghost Pepper link is absolutely delicious with the habanero pickled onions on it. And some horseradish mustard, ketchup and fresh avocado to cut the heat and youve got spicy goodness. And I especially like their side of asparagus. Its nice to be able to eat something that is technically bad for you (like a hot dog) and chase it down with something green and healthy. Oh, my wife digs their onion rings too!

I used to love going here. Then I got kidney stones and havent been back since. I think its because of the grease or the salt. It used to be really good here too. My friends and I we all went here. And we all wanted it to beat the "Duarte Curse". The curse is what happens when "good enough" settles in. It happens a lot in this town. Good enough is a compromise between the energy and the drive that was present when new and just starting out. And the present, when things are not so fun anymore. Customer have trashed the bathroom and etched their initials onto the windows. Its not always the merchants fault - it is the curse.

Dont bother ordering off the menu.., GOD only knows what youll end up with! And if they have more then 2 other customers at the time totall confussion will brake out! Check out the way the food servers handle the food AND money at the same time, so gross and illeagle by the L.A. Health Department! Enjoy your visit to The Slaw Dog Duarte.

Its a fun place. It took over a Mexican place thats been there forever. This is the owners third location of Slaw Dogs and hes trying to bring back the Route 66 classic diner. I tried the Hulk sausage which is ghost peppers, other peppers and pepper infused cheese. Yeahhh dont get this if you dont like heat. It was tasty.

How sad it must be when a cafe/restaurant such as The Slaw Dog has to PAY The Chamber of Commerce to advertise fake statements to make the establishment sound good!! And how about that "HELP WANTED" sign posted in the window? An old trick to get foot traffic passing through!!!

The Hulk Dog certainly brought some delicious heat which the potato salad slightly cooled down. When traveling Route 66 through Duarte, this is certainly a good stop for a moon and pop meal worth good service and a nice menu beyond what you would expect to find

Great little joint for great tasting food at a reasonable price. I wouldnt say its cheap but there are cheaper items on the menu. However I stay with the better known dishes such as their hot dogs, pork belly dishes and breakfast items!

I had delicious scrambled eggs with cheddar, bacon & hash browns. Everything wad delicious. The only thing was that my toast arrived after I was half finished with my meal. But it was still yummy!

Everything is great. Just need to offer diet Dr Pepper or any diet soda other than diet Coke or Pepsi. Not everyone likes cola drinks and diabetics have to have diet drinks.
