Rating scale: 0-5, 5 being Excellent Food: 5! Drinks: 5! The cocktails were excellent, correctly made, and arrived in a timely manner. Service: 5! Everyone, from the host to the manager to the waitstaff to the busboys, was totally professional, helpful, and friendly. Coat/Hat rack: 0! Piatti has none. This is a new restaurant innovation from Europe, where it has been in use recently (the last 400 years or so). Thats OK, Ill just throw my hat and coat on the floor. Ambience: 0! The main dining room at Piatti seats about 250, and is a cavernous, barnlike affair with a two-story ceiling with no sound treatments whatsoever. Seating is cramped. On the walls, there is a collection of really awful "still-lifes", done in a deliberately blurry "style" that makes one think one has already had several drinks too many. Noise level: 0! This is the clincher. Piatti is noisy. And I mean NOISY, like a baseball game/subway train/airport/rocket engine test-facility noisy. I am a sound engineer in real life, and I would easily estimate that the noise level exceeded 120 decibels, possibly 130. I could not understand one word the waitress nor my relatives uttered, from no further away than the other side of the table! And no matter how good the food is, its difficult to enjoy when youre basically prevented from any communication with your companions other than shouting "WHAT??" at the top of your lungs. So, I guess what Im saying is that it would be a good restaurant for deaf people, and other lipreaders with ear plugs. For me, on the other hand, it was a stressful experience, one I wouldnt willingly repeat.

We recently visited Piatti and I was very disappointed in the service. We were virtually ignored for the the first part of the meal and by the time we ordered we were 15 minutes into the experience. I was drinking water and my date a diet coke, I realize we did not order from the wine list but drink refills were nonexistent until I flagged down a random waiter. The salads were poor, the Caesar romaine lettuce tasted old and dirty and the heirloom tomato was fully of soggy croutons and little tomato. The Filet Migon I ordered was delivered as a "tenderloin" and was clearly not from the the Filet section of the tenderloin, I felt like I was misled. The lemon ravioli was quite good, but a small portion. The worse part was that no one asked us about our meal or experience

I have been here on two occasions and the food has been outstanding each time. The service is fast and the availability of water at our table throughout the meal is convenient. I enjoy the bread provided, however I would enjoy it if I had the option to have butter with it instead of the oil that is provided. Ive only had the pastas offered, but they are rich in flavour and in future visits I would like to try out the other variations offered. On both visits we ordered Tiramisu for desert and it was just the right desert to finish off the meal. This restaurant is difficult to get a seat at without a reservation. Truly a gem in Danville.

I came here with my fiancé for Lunch for the first time. We walked in and we had to wait a while before we got seated because the host at the podium was on the phone. None of the other staff decided to hop in to offer help with seating people because there was a line forming behind us. But once the hostess was off the phone, the waiters decide to offer help. I had ordered the pork chop, which was pretty good. And tender. The creme potato that was served with it was just DELICIOUS . But not enough.. My fiancé ordered the margharita pizza . It was so so. Not enough tomato sauce. Its tooooo simple for a margharita pizza.

Just tried this place tonight. Service was good, welcoming, low key, helpful not bothersome. Menu offered a good variety of choices. We really enjoyed the Meiomi Pinot Noir, the delicious roasted beet salad, and the lemon ravioli was quite good too. The temperature was right to sit outside this evenin, and we noted that the shade from the nearby redwoods gave the patio a nice feel and that it would always be shaded nicely throughout the day. This is my new favorite Italian and we will definitely return. Id give 4.5 stars but I guess I cant on google.

Went here for a large birthday party, so we were seated in a banquet room in the back. First off, the bread and their house dipping oil was probably the best Ive ever had. I practically filled up on bread. I heard they sell bottles of the oil but forgot to check it out on the way out. I wouldnt mind a bottle in my stocking. I think I tried just about everything since food was being passed around the table. The pasta is top-notch. Delicious stuff. I would stick with a pasta dish rather than the pizzas, since the pizza was mediocre at best.

Consistently one of the best places for lunch or dinner in Danville. Does not feel like a chain at all. Great service, great food, very nice ambiance, nice fireplace. The mussels are to die for if you like that kind of thing with a red sauce and fennel sausage -- great combination, never had anything like it. The very thin carpaccio is the best around with shaved parmesean, capers and arugula, drizzle the fresh lemon on top to taste the flavors burst. Dip their great, warm, crusty bread in the olive oil balsamic and enjoy! Awesome.

Hostess was nice, service was average and so was the food. Presentation of our dishes seemed ok, small portions, we started with a salad came with pre-soaked garlic cheese croutons that were soggy, guess they premixed the salad an hour before. I had spaghetti which was ok. We followed up with some cappuccino and tiramisu for desert, unfortunatley the tiramisu was served 10minutes after our cappuccino was. Service seems to be on the young side and maybe in need of timing training and a lesson in attentiveness. Probably wont return.

I love the gnocchi! Best dish. I had a great fillet mignon, and it was perfect. I ordered median rare, so I came back to have the same median rare fillet mignon, and it wasnt so good. It came almost done. They brought me another one. It came rate, and cold. The staff is very friendly, specially Jeremy. I will return, but never more fillet mignon.

Great ambiance whether enjoying the patio or sitting inside. Casual attire to business dress. Its recently our "go to" place for getting the family together (Sacramento, Modesto, Oakland) for celebration dinners, etc. Menu changes as the produce does. To top it off the staff is professional, knowledgable and attentive.

The happy hour in the bar is great; BEST pizza, salad, wines, etc. including service by Terrence. Hes friendly, knows the menu and keeps us up to date on new seasonal dishes. He makes this place a regular for us! Weve been coming in for almost 2 years..... if he left, wed probably leave too - hes that good!

Theres a varying group of friends that get together here on an irregular basis: we love to sit at the bar, have a couple of cocktails, then head to our table for a lively conversation with dinner. GREAT FOOD! I personally love the fried Brussel sprouts with bacon and blue cheese.

Friendly staff in a nice environment. Interesting Californian/Italian cuisine. My salmon was cooked to perfection but all the garnish and sauce around it left me uninterested. Their bread and oil/garlic/chillies dipping was very good. They have a good wine selction too.
