I went there with my family and some friends that were visiting from out of town. Luckily , we made a reservation, otherwise we couldnt have gotten a table for 12. When I looked at the menu , I noticed most items were very expensive. I then assumed large portions, or exquisite ingredients. It was none of them. I ordered a margarita pizza, because they had very little vegetarian options, and my brother ordered the vegetarian ravioli, when they both came I was shocked. $14 for a four -slice pizza, with regular cheese, a little tomato slice, and ONE basil leaf. I ate 2 slices of pizza, and ONE raviloli. The ravioli was okay, and it was 10 pieces for $10, which wasnt that bad, and it was actually pretty good tasting. We then ordered a another pizza, a pistachio one, with jalapenos, and that was good, still pricey. Although the jalapenos tasted like bell peppers to us, that was most likely because we are more heat- tolerant. Then for dessert, we ordered 2 tiramisu, and a hazelnut, and a chocolate dessert. the tiramisus were big and worth $10, but the hazelnut, was $8 and one tiny scoop of hazelnut mousse. My chocolate dessert, was $8 for a slice of thin cake. It was still good though. Altogether, all this totaled up to be $230, me paying about $150. Overall, I would say it had decent food, but was way too overpriced, and very tiny portions, for a tall family like mine. Would probably not go there again, unless Im not paying :).

Ive been a loyal customer for a while now. So, I decided to write a review here. I have no complaint regarding service and food. I really enjoy this place much along with my family. Sometimes my family comes down to Bay Area from So Cal and they always wanting to come here. I like the thin crust pizza, you can sample it along with their other dishes (meatballs, salad, etc). It wont makes you crazy full by just eating the pizza dough like American pizzas. Dad likes Diavola (hes a salami/ham lover). Mom enjoys the seafood (rarely eat meat), the kids of course meatballs and margherita pizza. Im not a big pizza eater, Im trying to be fit and healthy, lol...so I will go for branzino or their salmon. They are kind enough to accommodate what I like, for example no fries but put extra spinach for me, which is nice. Some places you cant substitute. Mind you, this place can get so freaking busy, so please do not have high expectation full service when they are like this. Just a logic sense. Make rsvp is recommended. I also noticed that they changed menus every now and then, another plus, so you wont get bored. I wished they serve sweet potato fries, just a healthier version, maybe not Italian enough, hehe.

This place reminds me why I love pizza! We came here on a Friday night and though it looked busy, we actually got seated right away. I was super excited because I love wood oven pizzas and chose to get the Doppio Zero Pizza right away. We also go the squid ink pasta as I love squid ink as well. My first bite was a slice of the pizza and OMG I think I just added it to my favorites list. The pizza dough was delicious and cooked perfectly, the burrata literally melts in your mouth, the prosciutto was flavorful and wasn’t too salty, the arugula was fresh, and the parmigiano Reggiano was so good! I loved everything about this pizza and was super excited when I had a slice leftover for the next day. Then I had the squid ink pasta and was a little bit disappointed. First, they gave us spaghetti instead of the pasta they mentioned on the menu (I forgot what it was called, but it’s some tortellini looking pasta). Then I couldn’t really taste the squid ink come through. The seafood was actually pretty good, and the dish had some good flavors, but I think our expectations were too high. Overall, I’ll stick to the pizza if I come back next time.

We have been trying to go to this place for a while. We tried calling ahead to make a reservation, but they wouldnt let us have it any other way than to show up at the door at wait 30-45 minutes. Finally we decided to get take out so that we could have their supposedly awesome Pizza without the wait. We called ahead to order, showed up at the restaurant 15-20 minutes later expecting our pizza to be ready. We had to wait another 15 minutes since our order was not ready. At the end of which it turned out that the pizza was ready all along and was sitting at the front counter. The restaurant did not make any apology for the cold pizza they handed over to us all due to their fault. We had to heat the pizza after we got home, and it was a good pizza. But overall I am really annoyed at the lack of service at this restaurant. They need to figure out better mechanisms for managing reservations and seating for their guests.

Doppio Zero is located on Castro in Mountain View and one of the more upscale Italian places in the neighborhood. That being said, be ready to empty your wallet when you get here. In return, you wont leave HANGRY. Both the MUSHROOM BRUSCHETTE ($8) and the BURRATA ($12) made for a good starter. The DIAVOLA RED PIZZA ($17) with San Marzano tomato sauce, homemade mozzarella, spicy salami, and basil was tasty but also a bit meshed together so you couldnt really distinguish the ingredients anymore. The CAPRICCIOSA ($16) with San Marzano Tomato sauce, homemade mozzarella, ham, Italian salami, artichokes, black olives and basil was also tasty but a bit too burned for my taste. Nice place for a team dinner after work when the company pays. I personally dont really dig the pricey-ness here.

We came here to celebrate my cousins birthday, we had to wait for our table because we wanted to sit inside, which was fine, it was Friday and we didnt have a reservation, but we got our table and decided on a couple of Vesuvius, which I really enjoy in this restaurant, we ordered a pizza, meatball appetizer and a salad, dinner was great, the thin pizza crust is one of my favorite, the meatballs are really nicely cook, not burned not raw, just right!! By the time dessert time came by, she ordered Tiramisu, the server got a candle and sang Happy Birthday to her, not sure if this is customary at Doppio Zero, but she was really happy and excited about this, so after all this rambling, thank you Doppio Zero!!!! I will definitely be coming back and enjoy the food and ambiance here:)

Pros: Located in the middle of downtown Mountain View, great ambiance for a date night or night out with friends. Takes reservations, and parking is easy if you go to the free public lot behind the restaurant. THE FOOD (obviously the most important part). The pizza was great- perfectly thin, fresh basil and just the right amount of mozzarella. My cousin is a tough critic, and she said the salmon was outstanding- good flavor, perfectly cooked, etc. Our waiter was efficient and attentive, without hovering. Cons: None that I can think of. This seems like a place that might be really crowded on the weekends, and parking could be difficult if you go later in the evening or try to find a street spot. Otherwise, I highly recommend Doppio Zero.
