This restaurant is not your quickie take out place. Come here to sit down and sip a glass of wine. Weve had food here twice, and it was good but each time I thought the price was just a bit much. Tonight we had the string beans with chicken, broccoli and beef, honey walnut prawns and rice for four. Total price was $37. All veggies tasted fresh and crisp. The broccoli was not overcooked and still snapped in your mouth. The chicken and beef were tender. The prawns were flavor neutral, almost watery. With four other family owned chinese restaurants within six blocks of each other, youd think there would be some price competition. This food is better than HK BBQ only hundred yards away. The value is not there for feeding a family of five on a budget however.

Although weve lived in Castro Valley for more than 20 years, we never got around to eating at the restaurant thats in an odd, set-back southern mansion looking place until it re-opened in the last couple of years under new management. Simon is the owner, and he is a charming host, always friendly, remembers your name, makes great food recommendations and frequently brings out a little something special for you to try. The food is really excellent and goes far beyond the usual Chinese-American fare. I recommend the Scallops and Sweet Peas in XO sauce. Dont know what the sauce is, but Ive really enjoyed that particular dish. Havent had a bad dish yet -- all is fresh.

Havent been here for years but as soon as I walked in the owner Simon greeted me warmly as if I had been in just the other day. Orange chicken is a dream with its actual orange bits and pot stickers with the spicy sauce are wonderful. I miss this place and its mellow energy that lends you to relax and enjoy your meal allowing you to appreciate it to its fullest. If you are ever in town this is one of the best if not THE BEST Chinese food place you can hope to locally find!

I have lived in Castro Valley for years and I didnt try it until relatively recently, but now this is my go-to Chinese restaurant. The food is great for the price and the staff are very kind. My family goes here all the time and the staff know us. Simon, the owner, is amazing. Hes super kind and friendly. He often shares food suggestions and brings us some interesting things to try. Overall, its a lovely place and I highly recommend it!

A friend recommended this place. I ordered (take out) the Chicken w/String beans ( it had no flavor). The Sesame Crispy Chicken (the meat very tough and chewy/not fresh), The Chicken fried rice had too much egg yoke and the prices, a bit high for the quality of food. ( I spent $35.00, tip included). I would not recommend this place to anyone. A first time, very disappointed customer.

Always good food, whether take out or eat in. The salt and pepper eggplant is something Id eat every day. Also, as boring as it seems, the beef in the beef and broccoli is substantial. And hot and sour wonton soup is a combo Id never had before, but seems soo right. Plus, the owner is so nice, you ant to come back just to see him again.

Fresh produce and meats make very well balanced dishes. Many of the flavors I havent been able to find outside of China Town or my grandmothers kitchen. Its always a bonus to find a wonderful restaurant close to home. The service is polite, effective and on point.

Simon is such a rock star!! 2nd time here, getting the Goddess Christmas dinner for when she gets off work at Midnight. Simon brings you tea while you wait for your order. These are the little hidden elements of Positively Outrageous Service that we dont see much of.

5 stars for quality and taste and 4 stars for service. I had to wait almost 40 minutes for my to go order and I only ordered 4 entrees. Other than that, the quality and taste of the food were excellent. Since I live close, I will definitely eat here again.

Order the beef chow fun and it was pretty good. Not too greasy and had the right amount of taste. Their milk tea was very good as well. Waiter was friendly and informative. This will be my go to local Chinese restaurant!

This has to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the bay area. The staff is friendly and the their ingredients are fresh. Possibly the only restaurant where I have tried dishes I have never considered before.

Good food, reasonable prices, and very nice service with friendly people. The wait is a little longer that expected, but if you want to eat fresh cook food you have to wait the right time.

Stopped here passing through Castro Valley and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The place was crowded, always a good sign.
