Im a fan of this Sheng Kee branch for its convenience as a quick and satisfying lunch stop. The bread here is fine - not mind-blowing, but very, very decent. I would disagree with another reviewer who says the egg tarts are no good... Like their bread, the egg tarts are fine, but theyre not the best youll ever have (for that, youll need to travel across the bay to Chinatown to go to Golden Gate or one of their neighboring competitors like AA Bakery). For a quick meal, Ill typically pop in to get one of their packed sandwiches (pretty cheap for something filling and fresh!). The Cranberry & Turkey one is my preferred choice. Ill also get a tiger tea to go ("tiger" means its a mix of Thai tea and Milk tea) because its usually super strong and will keep me awake for the rest of the day. I also like their tea eggs, mostly because I never see anyone actually buy them except for myself... and so the eggs (they are hard-boiled and steeped in a savory tea mixture for hours) sit in the pot and become quite strongly-flavored. :) Yum. 2 for $1.75, though sometimes they go on promotion.

Well, while I dont live close by, I do enjoy getting some baked goods from Sheng Kee. I prefer these guys over 85C. However, I usually go to the other location in Berkeley. I found out that place close earlier and this location closes at midnight so I came by here at 10pm. I have to say, you wont get what you want this late. You get leftovers without any discounts. I dont like to complaint but I was just able to get the buns that were available that looks decent. They included: BBQ bun Red Bean bun Taro Bun They were all okay. All were a little dry except for the BBQ bun. I would like to come here one of these days earlier so I can get a fair assessment of their products.

Pros: - coconut pineapple bun! (note: does not contain pineapple; just named that because of the yellow sugary crust on top) - german pudding (like a giant egg tart) - long line is still a short wait - chubby cup comes with a TON of boba (free drink add-ins!) Cons: - regular egg tart is no good. Try the Portuguese egg tart instead - $5 minimum for credit/debit cards (everything is so inexpensive that its hard to reach this total) Bottom line: super cheap and quick snack/breakfast! Recommend to anyone who likes Asian pastries

I would give it 5 star if it wasnt for the pork sung corn roll and garlic bread. I used to really like them but them but this places put TOO MUCH of the mayo and SALT that its disgusting and feels like youre eating nothing but salt and fat. I like their chubby cup bobas, cute but sometimes they put too much ice that it waters down the drink. Its better than ucafe when that place was open. Other than that, its a good place to go to for a snack thats really close to campus and cheap.

QUALITY BAKERY! SO GOOD! Were from the east coast and came to UC Berkeley to drop off our son to college. Came upon this bakery near campus. Delicious and reasonably priced. Service staff is young and theres room for improvement but the baked goods products deserve 5 stars.

The bread here is great but more than that, this is a great place to buy cake for birthdays! the cakes here are not too sweet, and though the wait time can be a bit long due to the long lines, the service is pretty good. I come here pretty often to buy breakfast :)

Very cute place but not suited for enjoying the food there. You buy n go... I like most things there except for the Pork Sung corn roll. Quite frankly it was terrible: very fattening, full of mayo and flavors that do not match. I would not recommend it

SOOO glad there is finally a chinese bakery in the area. However, the cake we bought last time had frozen fruit that was literally FROZEN. But the pastries are always delicious! I wish they would bring back the plain puff buns though!

I love Sheng Kee Bakery and I love how there is one in Telegraph. I get in and get out every time without any problems. Ive also gotten cakes and received cakes from this bakery and its never failed me.

My girlfriend likes this place because they have a discount section. Aside from that its just the same as all the other Sheng Kees Ive been to. Theyre usually pretty good, this is good as well.

I like to come and buy a bun in the afternoon. It is tasty and very cheap for Berkeley. Very conveniently located. The staff works so fast that I never waste my time in lines here. :)

The buns in Sheng Kee are pretty. They taste fairly normal though. I bought a garlic toast and something else which was quite forgettable. The staff is pleasant.
