Very delicious. Read the reviews on google maps before I headed over to the spot on College, so I had really high expectations. It was very tasty, 5.99 for chicken tika masala, and 2.75 for garlic naan. Im just learning the ways of indian curries, and am glad to have found House of Curries. The all you can drink Chai is a real nice touch, as well as the kind of, handle your own water, get your own silverware atmosphere. Nice little outside nook spot to eat in. Help was very helpful and entertained my silly questions and light probes. I will say that I wish I wouldnt have gone w/ tika masala just because its such a rookie dish and was lacking a little bit in spicy flavor, but still good to eat. Chicken Tika Masala was not steaming though, and I wish they could have served it at a higher temperature. I will be back in the future. Thank you House of Curries.

House of Curries on college ave was a nice change to my lunch routine. It wasnt crowded at 1:30 but there were a few other people in the restaurant. Service was quick and easy. Its kind of self service. As in you get your own utensils, water/tea, napkins, as well as your own togo stuff. They bring out the food for you. I liked this concept because it felt pretty convenient not having to wait for someone to bring me what I want. The butter chicken was just ok but the goat vindaloo was pretty good with the garlic naan. My favorite thing there was the mango lassi, its simple and delicious. The pickles were a touch sour, I wish I had ordered some biryani to eat it with but it wouldve been too much food. Ill probably get it the next time Im back.

We get it - its North Indian, its Pakistani, but it is allll good. We have a dear friend who is (North) Indian, and its her favorite spot, too. What are our favorites: chana masala, saag paneer, any of the naans, chicken tikka kabab (order it with raita!), chicken tikka masala, and goodness, how about that free chai. Everyone on staff is nice, delightful, happy and giggling. The price - how about $30 for three people eating like kings, with extra to take home? The tables turn fast enough - dont get scared by a line at the desk (you order before you sit down). If you have kids or kite-lovers in your group, come and see the fighter kites all over the ceiling. And be sure to leave a tip for the old man in the wicker frog at the desk!

Theres something really special about this restaurant. It used to be the original Naan n Curry but I believe they sold the brand. Whatever theyre calling themselves, you cant beat this place in terms of quality, quantity and price. I think its because theyre in such a good location, the food is always super fresh & hot, which cannot always be said for budget Indian places more out of the way. In particular, you should try the daal, and the mint & tamarind chutneys. I love all their food but IMO these items in particular vary extensively from restaurant to restaurant and I really like their version. Other items I live here are chicken tikka masala (spicy), lamb vindaloo, aloo Naan, and their samosas.

Best Indian in the Bay Area, and I think Ive waded through enough curry territory in San Francisco and the East Bay to say that. Theyre solid on the standard dishes: chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, naan. Their goat vindaloo is listed as a special, but its one of those specials that you can count on, if you know what I mean. Tasty chunks of meat on the bone in a vaguely spicy sauce, great to mop up with some stray naan. This location is definitely the best out of the four or five in the area, and apparently the family/owners disowned the one on Grand. Chai tea flows plentifully, and the place always has plenty of seating.

I think people in california are not accustom to spicy food so all the ethnic food restaurants come up with their version of baby diarrhea. Including this one I tried 6 indian restaurants in berkeley / oakland so far and still did not get a decent food. it is "edible" but it is not good! I am not indian but I make better chicken tikka masala, better vindaloo, even better naan ...

Chicken tikka masala is solid and really filling. Make sure to order a side of rice if you like having that oh-so-delicious sauce over a little something extra. Their cheese naan is a super tasty alternative too. Also saw they have mango lassi for $2. Whaat?? Best part is the free chai tea. Its relatively mellow on the chai and pretty milky. Add sugar to taste!

This is what you would call a no frills restaurant. You order prior to sitting down and pick up all your silverware and water as well. I have to say though that the food is a good value for what you are paying. I was also very impressed that they served bitter melon. Its a dish I remember from childhood but I never expected to see it on a menu.

I dont know why anyone likes this place. If you think the food here is good, all I can say is that you must not have ever had real Indian food. The prices are not even that great. The naan was okay, I guess, but the tikka masala was bland and the saag paneer was inedible. It just breaks my heart to see so many people fooled into eating this junk.

My family orders food from here all the time, and the chicken tika masala is spicy with a slight sweet undertone. The raita is a slight bit sour, as it is supposed to be, and the prawns are a bit bland and just barely overcooked. However, the meat in the goat curry is slightly stringy, and could use a little less salt and some chili powder.
