Some one call Gordon Ramsey, weve got a Kitchen Nightmare. The decor was clean, but very antiquated. Which is probably what they are trying to hang on to. However, what started our as Arkansas Quality chicken, is more like Always Queezy. The waitress was very polite, but did not say anything about specials, as we later found out as we heard a REALLY LOUD rotund blond telling a table at the other end of the restaurant. I ordere the three piece pan fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and coleslaw. My wife ordered chicken and dumplings, with potatoes, and baked beans. My four yr old. had a drumstick with fries. The waitress took our order, and we recieved our drinks very promptly. I had sweet tea, the rest of my family had water. I have discovered that you can tell alot about meal is going to be by the tea and the bread. The tea tasted as if it was made last week some time. Kind of having a "funk" to it. The bread, that was brought to us, looked very good. However, in tasting it, it was not heated all the way through, and tasted like cheap, boughten rolls. When our entree was brought, at first glance you could tell the chicken appeared not to be cooked all the way through. It had a whiteish color to it, and as I pulled the lower joint section from the wing I had, I was relieved to see the flesh was cooked all the way, but the breading was not crisp, and the chicken was heavily covered with lemmon pepper. In trying to describe the texture of the chicken, it was as if the oil, that it was fried in was not hot enough. Or, as if someone had started to fry it, turned off the stove and then continued a few hours later. My four yr old, who is not pickey at all even removed the wet, dougie nastiness from his drumstick before eating the meat. The mashed potatoes were hot. However, one bite and you could tell they were instant from their gaininess, they were covered in white cream gravy, that by taste tasted like the just add water mixes you would get in a cheap hotel that offered a free "hot breakfast." The cole slaw was the packaged shreaded cabbage with small flakes of purple cabbge. The dressing, may have been bottled slaw dressing. However it may have just been miracle whip, vinegar and sugar. But at this point the meal has been prepackaged so I really doubt the had even attempted to make the dressing. My wife said that her dumplings had a pleasant taste. However, judging by their consistancy and uniformity we both agreed they were probably from a can. The broth they were in was not bad, but generic and definatley not a quality scratch made broth. Just the same as you would taste coming from Campbells. I must say, that I was extremely dissapointed with the meal. We had seen the place when we first moved to Bentonville and my four year old had mentioned it almost every weekend. Tonight was the first opprotunity we had to go, and it was a major let down. They did right by us, as we were not chaged. But, one would have to think that at one time, this must have been good food, and where as it started as Arkansas Quality Chickenhouse, the A.Q shoud probably be changed to Always Queezy. We will not be returning.

So disappointing! We were seated in the back, the only ones there, and listened to the waitresses talk for ten minutes, at least. As my cousin went to get one of them, she met her. My cousin said something about waiting and was told they were still opening up. (Why did they seat us there then? It was 5:30pm.) When we got to food, I told my waitress my baked potato was cold, she asked if I wanted something else. I told her I wanted a hot baked potato. She offered to put it in the microwave. When my plate came back I discovered all my food was room temperature! I decided to keep it to myself. By the time the meal was over, I discovered everyones food was cold! Ugh! There is only one way for all four meals to so cold, it had to have sat long enough to have come to room temperature! Very sad, and somewhat disturbing!

I have to believe that the reviews are so high because NWA natives have a loyalty to this place considering how long its been around. I have been here 5 times in the past 3 months. Its on our way home from basketball practice so it was a convenient meal before heading home. I tried 5 different items on the menu and each time the food was mediocre and the service was subpar. The atmosphere is dirty, stale and old. Nothing tasted fresh. Each night I ordered a house salad and it was slightly brown each time. The rolls were good most nights but sometimes they were as hard as a rock and cold. This place just isnt worth the money I spend to eat there. We wont be returning in the future unless I hear that they have made some significant changes....

Im giving 2 stars because of the staff, they are all very friendly and attentive. This was a staple growing up and used to be so good. The last time we came it was just barely edible. We decided to give it one more try on the off chance it a bad day. We ordered the mixed appetizer and the ranch dripping sauce was the best from this dish. For entree we ordered chicken breast and legs with spaghetti, the breast was very undercooked, greasy and extremely overseasoned with lemon pepper. The legs were very greasy and very overseasoned as well and the spaghetti was just plain noodles (used to be homemade in tontitown) with a heavy hand with the sauce..I would not recommend this to anyone.

AQ has some of the best fried chicken we have eaten. Unfortunately we will no be going back until improvements are made. The restaurant smells of very dirty, sour carpet. The flatware had dried food on several of the pieces we were to use. While we were eating we heard a dog barking in the kitchen area. Even if this was an app (which I am counting on) with the poorly clean restaurant it makes me wonder. We ate on a Sunday afternoon which you think for this kind of restaurant would be packed. There were maybe 60 people? It is my true hope the clean up the restaurant in all areas.

My wife and I dined at the Springdale location over the 4th of July.I have been driving to AQ from Oklahoma since I was a teenager.Over the years I have seen the quality fall to the wayside. Our meals were ordered with baked potatoes which were both hard as a rock.Been baked way to long. The side portions are a joke served in small cups with about 3 good bites in them. The rolls had no taste to them unless you piled on the preserves. From now on we will go to the KFC all you can eat buffet and get our meals and drink included for under 7 bucks.NO MORE trips to AQ.

The food is as good as ever, but the joint is really run down. I can understand why they dont wish to modernize and lose the institutional charm. But they can paint the walls, fix the sinks, and lay down some new carpet without changing the theme. Also, some of the waitresses are a bit crabby. Its as if they feel since theyve been there forever that they dont have to try and be friendly and courteous. Let me correct that. One waitress really had her head up her a$$. The hostesses, etc. were great. But...the Chicken is still awesome.
