The best Indian food Ive found. Always a nice selection of veggies and delish chicken masala. Garlic naan! Ive never gone wrong with the food here. The place looks nice and is comfortable. I always exchange a hateful look with the woman at the register. I think she could be one of the owners wives. The place is has an undercurrent of unhappiness between the employees resulting in not the best service. I recommended the place to a friend who loved it, too. He did tell me that he felt these places were a hotbed of undocumented workers from everywhere. People with no legal identities getting cash under the table and maybe a place to sleep. I think he was exactly right. I would like to add that I believe Guru Palace to be immaculate and sanitary. Some of the other restaurants are filthy and roach infested.

While searching for Indian cuisine in the east valley and trying several places with nothing impressive found, I stumbled upon Guru Palace and decided to go in for lunch one day. I am not, by any definition, an expert in the area of Indian cuisine but I know what I like and dislike and there was not a single item in the lunch buffet that was not delicious. Understanding that a buffet of food that is not freshly prepared to order is not a true indication of what a restaurant is capable of, I couldnt wait to try them for dinner. I have come to know baigen bhartha as a tasteless paste so I decided to give theirs a try. It was top notch and will probably be a weekly indulgence. The prices are affordable (I work for a non-profit so that is important) and service is as high quality as the food!

Although Ive only ordered take out from here (several times), I recommend you check this place out if living in the east valley. Not only because the food is pretty good, but out of the limited options on this side of town, I think its the best option we have. Pros: The staff is awesome and always super friendly. Food is very tasty and authentic. Cost is reasonable. Cons: Although the food is typically good, they are a big inconsistent with the flavor and heat. I hear their lunch buffet is pretty good, but have never had the chance to check it out. I say stop in and make your own opinion.

I used to be number one customer at Guru. In fact I was the first person to step into the doors when they first opened. I was an avid supporter and I ate there two to four times a week. However I made the switch to Indian Paradise on Dobson and Warner. It was a difficult decision to make because I like the owners, but I like the best Indian food. Guru is a good place, but if you like the best go see Bobby and Hardeep at Indian Paradise on Dobson and Warner. Tell them some goofy Filipino guy told you to go there and they will take care of you like they do me.

This place is one of the best Indian places Ive been to ever. It tastes so fresh and amazing. Lived in England for many years, and this place blows away any restaurant Ive seen there. We returned several times in the space of two weeks. We love supporting Mom and Pop restaurants, and these guys get our return patronage. They are super friendly and attentive, we even nicknamed the head server Teddy (short for Teddy bear) cause hes so unbelievable nice. Highly recommended!! We recommend to get the peas palau (sp?) rice- and Paneer Tikka Masala!

Pretty average experience in general. I went in with no real expectations, having found myself in the parking lot after a wrong turn and realizing I was hungry. My service was definitely on the slow side, occasionally leaving me wondering if I had been forgotten. The atmosphere kinda felt like the place was unfinished but wasnt bad at all. My food was good but there is better Indian to be had even just up the street. I do not regret eating here but I probably wont be returning anytime soon.

I visited this place last August while on a business trip to Mesa. This restaurant is what made me fall in love with Indian food. I went two out of the three nights I was there. Ive since traveled to many cities, and I guess I was just spoiled because I havent found an Indian restaurant that comes anywhere close to the delicious food and great atmosphere this restaurant has. Im looking for another reason to get out to Mesa just so I can eat here again!

The food was delicious and the wait staff were amazing. We were served very quickly and the waiter was very friendly and attentive, giving great advice and input on what to order when asked. We had the chicken vindaloo and lamb saag. The quality was the same as our other favorite Indian restaurant and the prices were slightly lower with even more friendly staff. Overall, this was a wonderful place to eat and we will definitely be back.

This is the first time Ive been here for buffet lunch, which are difficult for me due my eyesight. I have, however, been here for dinner a few times. I liked the fact they kept the buffet to just few dishes which were all very good with the exception of the pokura which were, frankly, burnt. Bottom line is the food and service were both excellent and I highly recommend this place. If youre new to Indian food, try a thalli dinner.

I went to try indian food wih my huband for the first time during the lunch buffet. They didnt have many options but we still wanted to be adventurous.....until we found several hairs in his masala. Gross! Then when politely attempting to let the waitress know, she gave us attitude! Asking to see the hairs as if not believing us. Sorry to say, but its going to be a long time before we attempt indian cuisine again.

Went here and returned again before the end of a week. The atmosphere is peaceful. The people are friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh and incredible. Its in the same place as trader joes so you can shop healthy before or after a delicious meal. This isnt a place to go if you are rushed. If I had time I would have stopped again tonight. The food is beautiful.

The food is fabulous, and the fact that there isnt any other Indian restaurant anywhere near here, is what keeps me coming back. I have to ask twice when ordering a beverage, I ALWAYS have to go up and ask for my check, and the older woman, who I assume is in some.sort of a leadership position, NEVER smiles back, and never thanks me for my continued business.

Excellent place for lunch buffett, with atleast four kinds of each; meat dishes, vegetable dishes, sweets and fruit salad cucumber raita, tamirind apetiser, mango Achars besides a big clean dining room to enjoy hot tea, mango lassi, cold water and beer drinks etc. to buy. Good selection on the menu. Services are excellent, all people are courteous.

I live right between Guru Palace and India Oven, and while India Oven is good so dont get me wrong, Guru Palace is better. Particularly the tikka masala and the naan. Twice my girlfriend and I have been here and weve had the place to ourselves, once during dinner and once during lunch buffet. Makes no sense. This place is great.
