My boyfriend and I ate here for the first time yesterday for our 3 year anniversary. What a great time we had! The place was beautiful. Service was great...our waiter was friendly, attentive and prompt. My boyfriend tried their blood orange margarita which was very good (I had a sip). I had their shaken Patron margarita which was super yummy! Their regular salsa is very good. The waiter asked if we liked a little more spice and then brought out their medium salsa. It was very tasty....but quite spicy! I cant imagine how hot their "hot" salsa is! I ordered the seafood enchilada dish. It was guacamole stuffed crepes topped with a white wine sauce, shrimp, scallops, roasted pablano peppers, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and spinach. Sooooo good! Their cilantro lime rice is fabulous also! Im looking forward to going there again because there were like 5 other menu items that I would really like to try. Sure, its not "authentic" mexican food. More "gourmet" or "fusion" if anything, but with as good as it tasted...who cares. It made for a great anniversary lunch!

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at this restaurant. I usually try to pick 4 star restaurants to eat at when I travel. This was rated a 3.5 when I went. I expected a run of the mill average restaurant, but Abuelos is not that. This is a a very open high ceiling restaurant with a cloud painted ceiling and a large statue in the center. It almost reminded me of mini fancy las Vegas casino shopping area. I was clean and well lit. The food was great. The chips and salsa were a step above a normal Mexican restaurant. The were served with 3 salsas. One tasted a little sweet (I think it had kiwi in it). It is my new favorite. The enchiladas were good. The chili relleno was Dynamite. The portions were huge. The service was great. Jyna did a great job! We were seated quickly, the food was served quick and the server kept our drinks topped off. Overall I would highly recommend stopping by this great Mexican restaurant.

The guy at the front was extremely rude to me and my boyfriend, we came in and he didnt greet us, he let us standing there, then he came back grabbed 2 menus and said "this way." When we got to the table he THREW the menus on the table and left I tried calling him by saying " excuse me" he looked at me and kept walking. I dont understand why we got treated this way , neither of us was never rude to him, we never said anything rude about anyone or the place and we werent wearing clothes with like offensive words. I asked to speak to the manager and I explained her the situation. The food was amazing as every time I have been there , the rest of the staff was very nice , the music was cool. And at the end they gave us a free desert but we added the cost to the tip, because we wanted them to know it wasnt because we wanted free stuff that we complained. This happened August 15 at 8:00pm Tuesday

I went to Abuelos with a group of people during late evening hours. The menu selection was pretty nice, a party at the bar seemed to be having a great time and the place wasnt crowded. Unfortunately, it took 40 minutes to get our food. Not really that surprised to wait with ten guests. However, the food was sub-par. My order got very messed up, but I didnt factor that into the rating. Im giving the restaurant 2/5 stars because the food was less than mediocre. My enchiladas were quite soggy and the sauces on top were flavorless. Im not sure what sauce was slathered on two of my enchiladas, but I believe it was some sort of queso that was cut with cream of mushroom soup. I have seen this before at low quality establishments, but did not expect it from the look and menu of Abuelos. The wait, combined with the food, is what killed the experience for me. My group felt similarly.

If youre looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, this place will not satisfy your cravings. The food is your average Americanized Mexican tasting food. I do, however, like the fact that they are very accommodating to people who have specific food allergies. For me, the server provided gluten-free chips (free of charge) and guided me through the menu to help me find several dining options. On the evening I dined here, the restaurant was very busy do the service was quite slow and the server wasnt able to efficiently attend to each table they were assigned. An example of this is that the table next to me was upset that their drinks were never refilled. In my opinion, the servers were just spread too thin. Overall, the food and service was decent... nothing spectacular. It is nice that the restaurant does their best to accommodate for food allergies/sensitivities.

The people who like this place obviously have no idea what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. And their top flight margaritas are anything but. A margarita is a very easy drink to make as it only has 3 things in it: tequila, orange liquor, and lime juice - period. The gigantic margarita we were served should have put us under the table but it mostly tasted like a sweet limeade and there was zero buzz forthcoming. As for the food, it came out so fast that the only way that could have happened is from a microwave. The flavors were pedestrian at best. The salsa was just a step up from ketchup. Im sorry but this is a very poor representation of so-called Mexican food.

From the prices and decor, youre expecting a pretty quality meal. This is not the case. I ordered the beef and cheese chimichanga. While the texture of the tortilla was nice and crunchy, it was filled with ground beef instead of shredded and topped with what was essentially chili and nacho cheese. Not even a shred of authenticity. The beans were dry and tasted like nothing but black pepper. The potatoes con queso were okay, but not great. Chips were pretty good, but salsa was sub-par. Essentially spicy tomato paste. It just seems a little over-priced and hyped for food that tastes like a microwave dinner.

I usually dont rate restaurants, but I noticed it was averaging three stars. This is unacceptable. People are confused when they see Mexican food that doesnt have a dollar menu. You can tell the food is high quality, the atmosphere is nice and the prices are on par with other (more terrible restaurants) like Olive Garden or Black Angus. People dont seem to care about thowing their hard earned money at crap like that. I recommend going here at least once to make up your own mind. They have a good happy hour menu, if you want to minimize your risk.

Everything was nothing to brag about. I have had better tasting Mexican food! What I thought was terribly gross was the half cooked/grilled steak fajitas. I had to send them back to be regrilled. They also hardly add any bell peppers on the Fajitas plate for two(not marinated well). The beans are dry and the rice is cold. The iced tea was very watered down on both refills, Im thinking they want to save $ that way. Most likely I wont be going back. Ill stick to Garcias or Macayos mexican food restaurants. Thank you very much!
