So its a not so great BBQ joint. Well, its an old house turned into a restaurant. Which Im not against, because some of the best BBQ comes from little dives like this. But, upon entering you cant help but notice all the graffiti scrawled on every free space of wall. Which is quaint until you realize that those signatures from 2004 are almost 10 years old now, which means they havent painted (and I highly doubt cleaned) those walls since. Then you notice the well worn carpet and it also has an "icky" look to it. The food: The chicken was dry and overcooked. The ribs were mostly bone though what meat was there tasted ok. Sauces vary from place to place. I wasnt thrilled with either sauce they offer but others may like it. The "Texas Toast" was neither toasted nor buttered, though the bread was "Texas" sized. I ordered the "famous" banana pudding and waited and waited, and finally had to remind them to bring it to me. It was good. Ultimately, I will not recommend this place, nor will I return. There are better BBQ joints that at least have cleaner atmospheres, much less better food.

This place is a dive, but this ooooooh is it finger-lickin, plate-lickin-good BBQ, meat smoked for hours. Unfortunately, upon arrival, they were out of brisket and only had chicken, pulled pork and baked beans (only side left). Our orders came out quickly and we immediately indulged. Before we even had a chance to talk about how great the food was, we immediately ordered more. The sauce was ta-die for, wholly molly Annie Oakley did they hit that on the target. Even though we could have eaten the rest of the meat they had cooking in the back, we put a halt to the ordering and accepted the fact that we were full. When in Mobile, come to the Brick Pit; youll love it!! Beware, you may either want to take the plate with you to keep licking the sauce or youll be licking your fingers right out the door. Happy eating and happy Yelping!

Some of these reviews crack me up - quit using the front smoker because the smoke burns your eyes? Really? Its a BBQ joint, man...maybe you should try Panera Bread? Anyway - Im a huge BBQ lover and have eaten BBQ all over the South. This place has the best pulled pork in the South (and, by proxy, America). The ribs are OK, nothing spectacular...the pulled pork is where its at. The sauce has a good combination of smoky/sweet/spicy (I recommend the mild sauce rather than hot). The pork is smoked over a combo of hickory and pecan for 30 hours. If youre accustomed to crock-pot BBQ with ketchup on it, you probably wont like this. If youre looking for genuine "low and slow" smoked pork, this is your place. Banana pudding and sweet tea round off the best BBQ meal youll have anywhere in the South.

The BBQ is what got the 3 star rating from me. The service was bland. No atmosphere. They feed you, hand you things, and take your payment. If you go here, takeout is best. The "Texas Toast" was neither toasted nor buttered, so they need to advertise it as TEXAS SIZED BREAD, not Texas Toast. They were out of chicken so my son wasnt really wanting anything else, but took some ribs because that was all they had. Then double charged my credit card for the same meal. Just wasnt much about the place to make it a memorable visit warranting going back on a regular.

This is some of the best BBQ weve ever had! The sauce is flavorful and just a little spicy; the pulled pork is smokey yet moist, and just seasoned enough to bring out the good pork flavor. Best of all, the staff were unbelievably welcoming. We had been driving across country, and waited to eat here because of the great reviews. The staff were friendly and welcoming, easing our hunger stress, and continued to helpfully provide more drinks, napkins, whatever all the way through our meal. This is a modest little BBQ place with honest food and five-star service!

Is there less than one star?? Where are you people coming from to rate this place even edible? No seasoning what so ever, bland, dry chicken. Chewy, tough, bland ribs. Thin watery potatoe salad and coleslaw. This was just the worse BBQ I ever had. Ive eaten BBQ all over the south, hands down the worst! Not even exaggerating when Im talking all over: Texas, Louisiana, south and North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi; all over!!! Horrible, horrible food.

This is one fine BBQ joint. They serve real BBQ that was actually slow smoked. They will serve you pulled pork without shredding it and smothering it with sauce to try to disquise flaws. It smells like smoked meat because it is. It has a smoke ring because it was really smoked. Their sides are good. The ribs are not optimal but they are good. The place actually looks and feels like a BBQ place. I like this BBQ restaurant. Keep up the good work!

I loved the fact that this is real pulled pork, not chopped, not shredded, but pulled. My pulled pork sandwich had big chunks of smokey moist pork on it. I think it lacked just a little in the seasoning department, but overall it was the best pulled pork from a restaurant that Ive had in a while. The sauce is ok, but Im not a fan of chili powder BBQ sauces, so thats probably just me. The customer service was great!

Im from Houston, so Im no stranger to good BBQ. The Brick Pit does not disappoint. I had the ribs, beans, and potato salad, and my wife had the pulled pork plate. I had the spicy sauce, she had the sweet sauce. We both agreed that the spicy sauce was the better choice, and we were more than happy with our experience at The Brick Pit. I recommend it.

This is top 20 in our bbq hall of fame. We loved the food. Had the chicken and ribs. Extra smokey (a bit too smoky the last time we went, oversmoked for sure) and brilliantly married to the sauce. My wife and I both liked the beans but only one of us loved the slaw. We finished with some banana pudding. This is a must stop on the gulf coast.

Some of the best BBQ in Mobile! Love their spicy sauce. Almost wish theyd bottle it! Be forewarned - the building/house theyre in is kind of run down. Thats part of the character of this place, though. Great location close to USA, but I wish theyd move a little farther west so I wouldnt have to drive as long to get this awesome food.

This place has it all--smoked ribs, pulled pork and chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad...and some awesome banana pudding! Rather than say the building is a bit old, I like to think it has a lot of character. If you like cookie-cutter concrete squares that are too cold for your restaurants, then you need to get out more.

Pulled pork and back ribs very tasty - I should have asked without barbecue sauce (lots of it on the meat). Accompaniments were ok. Service: nothing extraordinary. One thing that stood out during my visit was the dirt in the restroom... hmmm... well, it gave me a lot to think of how I could evaluate this place.

the food was fantastic and we really enjoyed it. i had the chicken and very much enjoyed it. The only complaint that we had is while the atmosphere is nice with it being a dive, some extra AC needs to be placed in there, as it was a hot summer night out and even moreso inside.
