FORT MORGAN SUPPER CLUB dined royally at THE DINER in Gulf Shores on July 19, 2016. It is conveniently located diagonally across from Tacky Jacks in Gulf Shores, has adequate off street parking, and no steps. Since they take reservations, the hostess seated us immediately. The banquet room was quiet and accomodated about 60 people. The other half of the restaurant is mainly comfortable booths for four. We were all pleasantly surprised at the variety and affordability of the selections. Photos with individual member comments are available for all items served on FORT MORGAN SUPPER CLUB Facebook page. Our server, Vince Brown ,was most knowledgable , efficient, and eager to please. Appetizers vary daily to assure maximum freshness. We had Ahi Tuna Shasimi with wasabi sauce, crab cakes loaded with fresh crab, not fillers, and BBQ Shrimp with skin on mashed potatoes. Any or all of these could easily be a meal unto itself. The entrees included black and bleu burgers $9, open face prime rib roast beef sandwich $10, chopped steak with onions and gravy $9, two large fried pork chops $10, shrimp and grits $13, fried shrimp $12, mahi steak $18, 8 ounce filet mignon $20, 14 ounce ribeye $21, and many other very affordable sandwiches, pasta and fish dishes. Since I knew that the owner, Steve Nailor, had been head chef at Ruths Chris Steakhouse, I had to have the hand cut ANGUS ribeye which was better than even I imagined....but others said the filet wins the GRAND PRIZE. He puts a homemade rub on, then cooks over an open fire grille. The sandwiches come with a bag of chips, and you can trade up to fries or onion rings for a small upcharge. The entrees include a baked potato and another side, or salad in a large COLD bowl. The dressings are homemade and wonderful. Tonights desserts were key lime pie, coconut cake, Chocolate sin, buttermilk pie, and creme brulee. WE HAD THEM ALL. They are all homemade on site and each member had a different favorite. I loved the coconut cake. You MUST look at the photos. A mile high, and infused with coconut and juice throughout. The best I have ever had. If you are looking for the fanciest white tablecloth restaurant in town, overlooking the ocean....this is not it. If you are looking for a clean restaurant with friendly staff who want you to come back often, great food and variety at affordable prices at lunch and dinner, you have arrived. Did I mention the grill and bar are open until midnight? All sixteen of us were duly impressed, and have a new favorite in our top five. I cannot wait to see someone eat the 16 ounce Steves Famous burger.

What a little treasure this place is! Located across the street from Tacky Jacks in Gulf Shores, Alabama. And easy on the pocket book too! Competitive pricing for a resort town( no ocean view), that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and brunch. Items included steaks, seafood, and pub food! We had the ribeye with mashed potatos, and corn cooked to order, and the BBQ cajun shrimp with rice appetizer which came with mashed potatos but I substituted for rice( which wasnt as hot as it should have been but tasty none the less), a garden salad with raspberry vinegarette, and we each had a cup of gumbo that was so delish! Our server Vince was friendly, prompt, and professional. He made several suggestion and complemented us on our choices. The shrimp also comes as a meal but the appetizer portion is 6-7 pieces and for me it was plenty! The atmosphere is casual dining. They have a full bar and ample room for large parties. They also have a stage in back outside for entertainment, seating and lounge area with a fire ring! They slso have a late night menu and the kitchen is open until midnight! We will definately go back!

My daughter and I tried THREE other restaurants in March starting at 5pm. One had a two hour wait, another one hour, and the last 30 minutes. I happened upon The Diner and they were able to seat us immediately with very prompt service. The server, while not personable, was polite, helpful, and very quick. The menu was easy; offering selections without an overwhelming amount and the prices were fair. I ordered the steak and shrimp boil (I think is what its called) and it was fantastic. My five year had their chicken strips and fries (of course) and they were great. Our server also went ahead and ordered hers before mine so it could cool and she could eat. Overall, fair price, decent portion size, excellent taste, and FAST!!! even my five year old said, "mom that eat was a really fast eat."

On June 17th we stopped here for dinner. It was great. No wait, we were seated immediately, the staff was very pleasant. And best of all we were in air conditioning instead of sitting outside in the heat. I had the BBQ shrimp which looked like something you would find in a 5 star diner. My wife had the chicken Alfredo and it was excellent. We enjoyed diner so well we came back on the 19th and ate dinner there again. This time I had the "Big Daddy Burger" 1 pound of beef on lightly toasted buns. For such a huge burger it was cooked very well and was extremely juicy and put together nicely. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Its nothing flashy, and off the beaten path a little but it is great.

Wow, just WOW. We were in the area for a family event and was just trying to find somewhere that wasnt primarily a seafood resteraunt (the smell in a seafood place makes me queasy), and happened to come across this place. It seems like a little hole in the wall, but OH MY GOODNESS! I got the ribeye, and i dont think Ive had a better tasting steak in my life! The staff was great - just attentive enough without being over bearing. My husband had the filet, since it was on special, and he too thought it was AH-MAZING! THEN he got the chocolate sin cake, and was in Heaven. The prices were more than reasonable. Overall - SO VERY IMPRESSED!!

Found The Diner thanks to Google Maps. The food was excellent and the prices are reasonable. Sadly, we spent more at other places where the food wasnt nearly as good. We had the shrimp and grits, the steak and shrimp bowl and the hamburger steak and gravy. All three were good and as I mentioned before very reasonably priced. For dessert we had the keylime pie. Keylime pie is quite popular around the area and weve tried it at several different places. The Diner had the best so far! So if you are looking for a place to eat thats not one of the "normal" sounding places on the beach, has good food and reasonable prices, you cant go wrong here.

I am so confused. All these 5 star reviews. Maybe our experience was unique and we just caught them on an off morning but our experience was awful. The biscuits and gravy were the worst we have ever eaten. Wish I was exaggerating but Im not. Id chose McDonalds 10/10 times over what they served me. It looked like they took canned gravy dumped it over some biscuits and then took the precooked Jimmy Dean sausage links and sliced it like you would a hotdog and added it to the mix. Topped it with sliced green garden onions and done. We choked down a few bites and then decided no thanks and went elsewhere.
