This place had a really cool vibe and the food smelled great (though I didnt order any). We were there over what would have been considered the colleges Christmas break, but the place was still packed with people. In various Alabama towns, its hard for me to actually find decent coffee - so its nice to see a good, independently owned shop in Florence. The decor is eclectic. The staff are friendly. But there is one "complaint" that prohibits me from adding an extra star to "love it." I bought a pour-over coffee (also, very difficult to find in/around Alabama). The "barista" ground the coffee, put it in a nice pour-over setup, and then just started dumping water on it. There really wasnt any time or appropriate water to allow the coffee to bloom before finishing the pour-process. I kind of cringed when I saw it, especially because the pour-over costs a little more than the regular brew. But honestly, if I would have known that he was going to pour this way, I would have gone with the regular brew. My pour-over was OK, but I wouldnt say that it was great. Other than that, Id definitely come back again - its not a deal breaker, just a bit of constructive criticism.

I was sceptical of the quality of food an coffee at this shop because of the grungy, artistic vibe and decor, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the unique flavor of the espresso in the cortado my husband got. We decided to get lunch as well, and the sandwiches we ordered were interesting combinations of ingredients and packed with flavor. The sourdough bread for the sandwiches was a fantastic choice. We ended up coming back later in the day and ordering mango smoothies, which were so refreshing and natural-tasting (just frozen mango and your choice of juice - we chose pineapple-orange) perfect for a hot day in Alabama. One note though: dont get the fruit salad on the side if you are expecting fresh fruit. I think it had been frozen and was still partially so, along with being kind of soggy from defrosting.

At breakfast, grab a bran muffin (chocolate chip on Friday) and a straight up coffee. For sandwiches, tomato and egg is the way to go. For a At lunch, for the best experience, call ahead, let them know youre there, seat yourself, enjoy, and take your plate to the counter when youre done. Every sandwich is good. Ask for the daily specials; theres often an amazing one time only soup or salad. Tacos on Wednesday. At dinner, grab a $1 off beer and a beef or chicken burrito with a side of yummy chips.

Excellent locally owned coffee shop with a diverse menu of breakfast and lunch items. Been at current location since 2004 so Rivertown has done a lot right. It is all about the coffee but lots of other drinks options available. I never have to wait long to order and prep time is speedy as well. Staff has always been friendly. The food menu has evolved over the years and currently very diverse. Ingredients are fresh. Expertly prepared but with a minimalist presentation...but it is all good.

Without a doubt these guys think outside of the box when it comes to coffee. The coffee is always fantastic and delicious. The food they serve is creatively nutritious and without a doubt a treat for your taste buds. If you have never experienced their breakfast or lunch delights, please take the time to be overwhelmed by creative food full of flavor and extrodinary coffee.

The location is convenient if youre walking but parking is limited if youre driving over here. The staff are friendly and the coffee is great. Been coming here since the mid 2000s and other than being crowded sometimes and a bit slow for lunch, its definitely a good spot to go. If youre in the area and craving some coffee definitely try them out. They have a great selection!

Delicious vegetarian (+ egg) breakfast, fresh hot coffee with almond milk, and a casual, local, atmosphere. Wandering into Rivertown Coffee made me want to spend more time in Florence and NW Alabama to get a better feel for the place. Dont be fooled by their menu online - they serve food weekend mornings, too.

Rivertown is always pretty busy and it isnt hard to see why. I used to go for their Caramel Frappe all the time, but recently had lunch here for the first time. I got a Turkey Pesto Panini and it was sooo good! The staff are always patient and helpful. Definitely want to go back for lunch again.

Cute eclectic coffee shop. They serve sandwiches and cold drinks too. They are one of the hubs for local music, with regular shows and CDs for sale by the cash register. It is not a good place for large groups as seating is very limited. Durring nights it can be loud but is usually quiet.

Rivertown is a great place to grab a cup of jo and relax. My first in counter with this place was my sophomore year at UNA. It is one of my favorite place to study off campus. The atmosphere is welcoming, and heir coffee is great as well as there food. They also have local beer too.

I really wanted to like this coffee shop but its way to small, the coffee is terrible, there is a haze and a smell so people know youve been there, and the service isnt great. It could be way better. Its also so loud in there you cant hear the people your with speak at all.

House Special is my favorite, Caramel Lovers a close second. The staff are cool artsy people, the regulars are worth getting to know, and the wifi is free. Indie music for sale by the cash register, this is a must try place.

I love Rivertown. It is such a friendly place and you can see just about anyone there. It is not my favorite among coffee shops for just their coffee, however their food is incredible! Highly recommend their apple muffins.

Nice and cozy place, to chill or meet friends. Definitely worth the waiting line as its usually pretty busy. Would give 5 stars if the coffee served would be consistent, but this place has all potential!

The coffee is pretty decent and the staff is friendly but the real treat here is in the hipster watching. Youll be hard pressed to find another watering hole in Florence that attracts more.

Had the corn chowder and black bean wrap. The chowder was piping hot and the wrap had just the right amount of spice. Food was awesome and at 8 bucks it was a win win

House blends are good, one is stronger than the other. Large coffee in house was served in a small soup bowl. Great coffee, great price.
