I hate doing this but my wife and I ate there yesterday 2/11/17 as her valentine present. Drove 31/2 hours one way. Big Bob Gibson’s has a world Champion reputation and we take these trips to taste BBQ at its best. This was not the case here. My ribs were over cooked, possibly the day before and reheated. Tasted wife’s brisket, BBQ brisket? No just plain roast beef, what a disappointment. The sauce on my ribs had an overpowering ketchup taste, the pork flavor was not to be found. I liked the Mac&cheese as did my wife. As for the potato salad wife said was so so. Sweet tea was spot on and I do know my sweet tea. I am not a world class BBQ chef, I was born and raised in the deep south however, lived here all my 70 years so I have eaten a lot of BBQ so take my 3 star as you will. That said, world class BBQ should be just that a cut above. The restaurant was clean, staff was wonderful and the price was good for the amount of food served.

Mixed review. Service was very slow. It was at least 5-10 minutes before our drink order was taken, so we ordered drinks and food at the same time. Both orders were incorrect and had to be corrected, 1 just a wrong side and the other was the sandwich. Both corrected and apology made. To the food.... The spare ribs were outstanding! No extra sauce needed. The dry rub was a little salty, too salty for my wife, bit just fine for me. They were juicy and tender and had great flavor. The fries were also very good. Green beans were not my cup of tea, but may appeal to others. The bbq pork was too dry. Sandwich needed lots of sauce. Definitely not on par with the ribs. Disappointed. My wife liked the baked beans and the potato salad. Probably not a 4-star visit, but the ribs carried this review/rating!

I had the pulled pork, brisket and turkey all smoked with potato salad and cole slaw on the side with coconut cream pie for desert. The meats are lightly seasoned with the sauce being what puts them over as something else. There is a red sauce that is traditional bbq tomato based and thick, a vinegary peppery white thin sauce and a hot sauce that is thin and vinegary and red. each sauce is unique and takes what is good, although not better than any other good bbq restaurant, meat and makes it better. The slaw is unique with a spicy kick and the potato salad is mustard style and is mild and yummy. Coconut cream pie was delicious with a bit of an over done crust. Service was amazing, my sweet tea was never empty and I never wondered where the server was and the food was super quick to come out.

Ordered the ribs and chicken combo with mac and cheese and greens. One of my dining companions ordered a combo with pulled pork and brisket with beans and slaw. My first impression of BBQ is whether they serve mac and cheese. My second impression, based in part on the first, is how is the mac and cheese? At Big Bob Gibsons, my first and second impressions were overwhelmingly positive. And the greens were stellar, a model essay in the genre. Smoky and meaty but not too. The chicken was done to the point of falling apart. The brisket was impossibly full of flavor. And the ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and expertly seasoned. Was that a touch of horseradish in the vinegary slaw? Oh, and did I mention the caramelly pecan pie?

My buddies and I planned an road trip around trying the white sauce. It was runnier than I imagined, and very peppery. Tried it on chicken as well as pork, and it is way better on the chicken (as is officially suggested); my friends and I attribute this to chicken being a bit of a blank canvas. My friends said it was good on the turkey, too. The "regular" tomato-based sauce did not have any stand-out flavor, but was instead amazingly balanced. Like, really well-balanced. After our tour (where we had BBQin every town from Memphis to Lexington, NC), it was still memorable for its balance. Anyway, highlight was the sauces, meats themselves were pretty good, service was nice, too. Just wish they served beer.

Been here a couple times, and each time the food was good. What dissatisfies me is the poor service and the densely arranged tables. Both times going, the server was uninterested and impatient. The plates were nearly just plopped on the table, and no one could be flagged down for a drink refill -- rather our only refill was offered after the check was carefully placed in clear view. The tables are so close that if you dont press yourself into the table, youll be hit by someone walking between the tables. Nearly had a face full of someones butt as they tried to squeeze between tables to seat themselves. To avoid this experience, request a booth at the risk of less attention.

Food was excellent! Best Ribs Ive ever tasted! Sampled a bit of everything (pork, chicken, brisket, turkey & wings) and everything was good to spectacular. Icebox lemon pie was the perfect dessert after this carnivore treat. Our server was marginally friendly but seemed more interested in getting us in and out than actually enhancing our dining experience. We barely had started on our plates before she offered desert. 28 minutes after sitting down we were given togo boxes and drinks in styrofoam cups and told to have a nice day. I did observe that the other servers seemed much better than the one we were stuck with. Food gets 5 stars! Service gets 1 star tops.

Service was great sweet tea was spot on, probably some of the best Ive had, the red potato salad was very good as well. the food came out faster than I expected and was a little on the Luke warm to cool side so I started with the brisket the moisture and tenderness was great but the flavor wasnt there was no smoke flavor at all just tasted like plain oven cooked meat. so I moved on to the smoked turkey, the seasoning was good, had kind of a Cayenne flavor great tenderness and moisture but again no smoke flavor at all. maybe it was meat that was there from earlier and reheated but I was disappointed in it. but like I said sides and service was great.

The food is good, but the service we had the last time wasnt so great. We came in and sat down, we were the only ones in the restaurant cause it was early but their times said they were open. Manager and wait staff saw us, but nobody came up to us or acknowledged that we were even there. We sat there for about ten minutes and the person I was with finally yelled out "Are you open?". We were ready to walk out. Finally a waitress came over and said no one told her that we came in. We could hear the manager yelling at someone over the phone as well, it made things exceptionally awkward.

Service was friendly, but very slow. It took close to 5 minutes to receive our menus and another 10 for the server to get our drink order. Service: 3 stars. Food: 5+ stars! They were out of pulled pork which was disappointing, but the beef brisket, ribs and smoked chicken were very juicy and cooked just right. The mac and cheese was made to perfection. (Cheesy and baked with slight browning). If youre driving through on the interstate, take the extra 7 minutes to drive here. If the service is quick, youll definitely have an amazing experience.
