As a person who used to frequent this diner before star chef Amanda Freitag took the reigns I must say that I love its new incarnation. The menu is diner food elevated to restaurant quality. Ive been a few times since it re-opened and my favorite dish is easily the orzo macaroni and cheese. The texture is perfect. Cheese is nicely blended in with the orzo along with bits of broccoli which is an odd, but very pleasant surprise. The dish is made with truffle oil so if you like that youll love this, if you dont, youll only like this dish as the truffle taste isnt too strong. My second favorite dish is the lemon chicken. It has been perfectly cooked each time Ive had it. Its mostly white meat with a piece or two of dark meat. The lemon sauce has no cream which makes the chicken taste citrus-y, fresh and light. As a side, the broccoli is phenomenal, its steamed and topped with a white cheese. My friend ordered the sole three times. The first two times it was delicious but the last time the fish was severely overcooked and very dry. The atmosphere is pretty cool, very New York, but not cramped or crowded. Noise level tends to get a little high as the dining room fills up. Service is great- fast and attentive with a smile.

Update: under New Management and totally delicious. Upscale in terms of flavors and prices but a dinner menu worth eating your way through. They sit you down with a warm biscuit. The pea toast, beets, carpaccio, and chicken fried steak are awesome. Great service but no more outdoor seating. Dont come here for hangover-curing greasy eggs. This is a diner only in name. The creative, inventive dishes are putting a new spin on your old faves. The homemade pop tarts (mine had guava) come in a pair and are light and full of fresh fruit filling that would be at home in any bakery. I do wish they had come warmed though. The toast I ordered was elevated to art. Its rare you taste something completely new, but the Bruleed Grapefruit sitting on a thin bed of cinnamon cream cheese blew me away. Sweet, tart, crispy, juicy - truly a must order for the experience alone. Its a small portion so feel confidant ordering a side if youre hungry. The outdoor patio is a great way to enjoy a brunch on a Saturday morning. They are dog friendly as well and we sat next to pups of all sizes, to our delight.

We walked the entire length from 30 st down the Gansevoort. It was a very nice day. The weather was perfect and because of that it was way too crowded. Although the views were breathtaking and the place was very very clean ,It was hard to stop and take pictures because we constantly got in peoples way and they got in our way. Although this place is literally a park, it lacks the seclusion that a park has. You cant venture off and be by yourself. Also you are not allowed to walk in the grass and they keep it fenced off,so that yearning to lay in the grass becomes a tease. But dont get me wrong, this place is awesome it was just too crowded., i felt like i was walking down a very busy sidewalk on 5th ave. Next time I will come when it is raining. Sport an umbrella and enjoy myself between the buildings at a continuous 2nd story level with unique views of the city

Pricey for a diner but i guess it comes with the name attached to this. Celebrity Chef Amanda Freitag owns and cooks at this spot. Came here for lunch and had the Empire burger. A juicy burger with their custom blend. A good burger but not a standout as ive had better. Service was good and their bar selection is well done too. Mixed a great bloody mary. Fries were fried up crispy and tasty. Sat at the diner bar which seems to be the place to be. Good service and even the chef came out to converse with her patrons. A good dessert selection as the take home cookie assortment was delish and the apple pie i had with ice cream was flakey, a good crust, and wonderful apple filling. Its a good spot if in the area but not a place id go out of my way to eat due to its price point.

meh. Not impressed. With too much swagger for his age, the young bartender with a faux-man-bun assuredly said my Old Fashioned would be served with orange zest, as I ordered it. Instead he served it with a whole slice of orange. I guess he didnt actually know what orange zest is; its the orange part of the peel, and nothing more. Next, the very thin lamb burger promised whipped goat cheese, but mine had none. I noticed 3/4 of the way into it. It would have nicely cut the too acidic on its own chili jam. Although I was seated at the bar and in his clear sight, bun-man did not bother to ask if I enjoyed it. He was too busy fussing with a coffee filter for the dinner coffee rush? Details, details, details. Chopped!

I first read about this development in a guide book and was totally intrigued.I live in Chicago and we have had some wonderful art erected in a downtown area called Millenium Park.I mention this because the park has become a magnet for people, from all walks of life, who gather around and marvel collectively at their environment. I predict that similarly, in a relatively short period of time, the High Line will become one of New Yorks premier attractions. The vision of the people who looked at this unused track years ago and perceived a park,I think, ranks right up there with any urban visionary of old. This is a magnificent undertaking for a magnificent city whose residents truly cherish their parks.

High above the ceaseless com-motion - angling and snaking grandly like a floating Great Wall of Chelsea - this reclaimed elevated freight track strikes that rarest of design harmonies: the quintessential New York industrial grime, rusted iron façade & rough concreteness are all brilliantly deconstructed, re-carved, & abstracted into this transcendent urban sanctuary in the sky. The landmark preservation has a few bizarre juxtapositions ("native plants" - really just pesky weeds - are cultivated reverently into almost micro-Zen gardens) , but somehow, like our city itself, all these elements collide and fuse into an exhilarating experience all its own.

This park is perfect to take a date, or have lunch with friends. The views of the West Highway look amazing from the park. The park used to be a train station and you can still see some of the old infrastructure. You can sit on benches that are placed on the old train tracks. Go early because it gets really crowded in the afternoon and do not go late at night because the big bugs come out to play. There are narrow passage ways so it can be annoying when you are trying to pass a crowd of people who are taking pictures of plants or family members. Bring your own food because the vendors are overpriced. No ice pop is worth $4-$5 in my book.

A lovely date spot, I go with my good guy friends and act ridiculous and spoil the mood occasionally (only a bit, well hold hands and skip dramatically). There arent any particularly great views of the city but the appeal of being on an abandoned track is worth it. Theres one area where you are on this see through part where you can see all these ferns and stuff on the ground underneath you. It reminds me of Jurassic Park and now I hope you think of that too. It makes it all the more enjoyable. Seriously, its well maintained and Ive gone at least 4-5 times in the summer/fall. It can be a bit touristy, but who care, enjoy it!
