cocotte is an overlooked neighborhood gem. The food was so Devine I licked my plate ( ok I really just took the bread and wiped every last bit off). We started off with the squid which was so simple but incredibly flavorful. My boyfriend and I shared the Filet Mignon and the St Jacques ( scallops). The Filet was tender, the vegetables were roasted perfect for a cold evening, and the sauce married a balsamic and blue cheese without being overwhelming. The flavors were dark, rich, and deep for a cold night. The scallops were light and the complete opposite to the Filet. Very soft and buttery. The creme sauce was a beautiful accompaniment. We loved the food so much we opted for the 2 tarts for dessert. Again a very deep intense chocolate and then a light and citrust tart, both yummy! I loved the food here. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was intimate and personal. Even the music was great. Love love love

I had the sea bass with mashed peas and it was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and the saffron sauce paired perfectly with the fish. The mashed peas were really good with a very soft creamy texture. My boyfriend had the hanger steak cooked rare. It was very tender and flavourful. The staff is friendly and the setting is romantic. I am from France and really enjoyed this french cuisine. I heard about this restaurant from a website of a french person who explores random restaurants in NYC. This was definitely a little gem.

From two visits I can garner this: the ambiance is very intimate and comforting. The staff is charming and attentive, and usually adept of keeping track of what one needs. Food is the true star here, with dishes being packed with flavor; wine choices are superb. The only drawback would be the high prices and small rations. The small size of the restaurant may feel claustrophobic to some.

Tiny and hidden below street level, it would be a shame to miss this cozy French Spanish spot with friendly knowledgeable staff who makes you feel both at home and highly attended to. The poulet is always delicious along with the market fish, it is a testament to their goal of bringing good food "in between the sea and the earth.."

One of my absolutely favorite brunch spots in the entire city! Anything and everything that you have is going to be delicious. Its French comfort food at its best. No need to worry about it if you can decide. ;) They have a very intimate and cozy setting. Best time to go is on the "early" brunch hours (pre 12pm) on Sundays.

Cute place and not crowded at brunch! Good filling pre fixe that includes juice/cocktail, coffee/tea, egg dish and a sweet dish (pancake and French toast are both good). Maybe good to get server to repeat your order as they got my omelette wrong (put sausage instead of onion) but otherwise very friend wait staff.

Cocotte is a nice French-Basque restaurant, serving tasty food in a cozy setting. Service is polite and efficient. The food is consistently good. Most recently I enjoyed their chorizo mushrooms and cod dinner.
