I was a bit disappointed in this place. It has a great looking menu with creative spins on standard dishes, but nothing we ordered really stood out. We ordered the tuna tartare, which was tasty and solid, with nice chunks of tuna placed on three wanton crackers stacked on top of each other. The Philly cheesesteak spring rolls were also good - crispy, delicate, and flavorful. For dinner we ordered the roasted Brussels sprouts with chorizo and creamy Manchego cheese. This side dish had pretty good flavor but the cheese became rubbery within a few minutes. Other than that the chorizo was tasty but the dish just seemed a bit flat. The hanger steak frites with chimichurri was our main dish. This was as average a steak as I have had in a long time. It was cooked properly at medium rare, with a nice-looking chimichurri sauce, so I was excited. However, the steak was way underseasoned and dry, and the chimichurri was basically olive oil and parsley and added little flavor to the steak. It needed lemon juice or another acid flavor. A miss, for sure. The fries were decent but just standard fries. The bartender serving us downstairs did a good job - no complaints on the service. I love the vibe of this place and it would be a great place to meet for drinks. We might give it another try just for a few appetizers. Hopefully the kitchen was just having an off night.

Cask Bar and Kitchen is a wonderful spot in Murray Hill. Upon first finding it, I have returned numerous times and have recommended to friends. The bar has mirrors behind the bottles that gives the effect that its vintage. The environment is sexy at night, dimly lit with candles abound. Darker wood tones visible around the bar. The dining room is a couple of steps up, on a split level past the bar. Its elevated and gives more depth to the space. On the lower level, theres a second bar I saw on my way to the restroom. This was a nice surprise and it was much less crowded that the main bar upstairs. During the happy hours from 5pm to 8pm, theres session draft for $4, blue point toasted lager or radenberger pils for $5, pinot grigio for $6, and a jalapeño margarita plus various sangrias for $7. Food recommendations are Truffle mac and cheese and Roasted lamb nachos. You cant go wrong with either of these.

Ive been here twice.. clearly because of how good my first experience was, but I was a little let down the second time around. Ive got to say that our waitress is quite pleasant. She served my table on both of my visits. My go to dishes are (/were) the pork rib sliders and the truffle mac and cheese. Both are loaded with flavor.. BUT here is where i was let down. the second time around, the mac and cheese was not anything to hype about. The second time around i also tried the truffle flat bread - boy was that disappointing. Couldnt eat it. Lets see bad truffle m/c and bad truffle flat bread.... hmmmmm. I think im getting to something on this one.... I will say the first time i tried the truffle mac and cheese it was perfect.. for the record. Also have tried the cask chopped salad. thats a winner too. overall a great place for food and drinks.. just need to step it up w/consistency.

VERY pleased with this place! Went with my boyfriend for brunch. I was visiting the city for the weekend and had found this place on yelp a couple weeks prior to the trip and decided to try it out. The decor is adorable. It had a home-y feel and the background noise and customer chatters adds to the welcoming affect. We were promptly seated with quick service, which was surprising seeing how busy they were. I ordered The Hangover as the title tended to my current state of being and was very satisfied. The eggs, the gruyere, bacon, avocado.... It was cooked and presented to perfection. The bill for 2 entrees and 2 drinks came out to 27 bucks. Our waitress was quick and prompt, not too personable as it was busy and that is absolutely acceptable. If I am ever staying at a hotel in this area, I am making sure that I go here again.

This is the type of place you come to on a Sunday after a good night of drinking and having good times with friends. Or this would also be the perfect place to come right before you did some Sunday shopping with a couple of friends. The fact that they make a Bloody Mary with bacon infused vodka to help with the hangovers is amazing. But beside the good cocktails the food is worth both the wait and or the walk if you are close by. My only regret was not trying the eggs benedict with short rib. Because after seeing another patron eating it I wanted it more than the tasty vanilla french toast I was eating. Dont get me wrong the meal I chose was delicious but I was a little envious of the girl with the short rib benedict. But I guess that means I will just have to make another trip there for brunch before I leave this city.

One of my favorite places-there are 2 levels: a main bar on the first level with the restaurant portion in the back, then a basement level bar with additional seating. The menu has some great american style small plates: the Philly Cheese Steak Spring Rolls and Roasted Baby Lamb Nachos are my favorites. The red sangria is really good as is a cocktail they make called the 167 classic.there is an extensive beer menu, including lots of craft beers but I am not a beer drinker and have not tried any. The owner is Irish as are most of the people who work here, and they are very friendly. It has a warm, homey feel and is a good place to go with a friend after work, although it can get very crowded.

So I might be a bit biased since I literally live above Cask, but youd be hard pressed to find many bars as good as this in NYC. I dont go often enough but every time I do its good experience. The food is very good and not your typical bar food. Try the lamb nachos. Always a good beer selection and the staff and managers are really good people. More than anything, it is one of the few bars around that has decent space. I feel like even on a Friday/Saturday night, when its always "crowded" you can still breath in there and probably find a seat either at the back tables or the cozy downstairs bar.

Amazing bar in a neighborhood that has not-so-amazing bars. Went on a Saturday night during peak evening hours, and was not packed at all. Atmosphere is sophisticated, classy, and vintage. Try to be seated in the elevated booth on the right hand side for a great view and some privacy. The main level resembles a restaurant seating layout, but the downstairs is more of a bustling bar with a similar atmosphere. Service was very personal and attentive. The blood orange jalapeno margarita (their most popular drink) was insanely amazing. Will definitely be a regular patron here for a long time.

We came here for a late dinner. It was dark and loud, but not unbearable. We sat at the bar, which really picked up around 10. The rotating beers are fresh every month so come back regularly for a rare find. The decor is mostly wood and steel, meant to look like casks (and many of the decorations are made from casks.) Its very charming and stylish. I had the bacon cheeseburger, and I dont say this lightly, I think it is the best burger I have had in my life. Incredibly juicy and delicious. The fries are also out of this world. Fresh and crispy. Overall we had a great experience here.
