A great atmosphere and friendly service make Matchless a great local bar to visit in Greenpoint. Located in an old auto repair shop, the bar has a mechanic motif from an all brass bar to a big car themed mural on the wall. Theres also fuss-ball and a photo both to round out the atmosphere. Check the schedule online too as they feature local bands on the weekends. They have a very good selection of Brooklyn and New York beer on tap and offer a large brunch menu. We had some of the nearby Brooklyn and Six Point beers and our friendly waitress offered us free irish coffees as well. We didnt eat anything while there after trying the Peter Pan donuts nearby, but the smothered wings a nearby table ordered looked very good. Matchless definitely seems like the kind of bar youd quickly become a regular at if you lived nearby. Great service and a great selection of drinks already have me considering going back.

Its a chill bar. I had an hour to kill and I wanted/needed a casual place where I could use have a restroom, get a water, and, preferably, a good beer with little hassle. I got exactly that. My Kelso IPA was summertime in Brooklyn in a glass ($6). Theres plenty of space, its cool, and the food I glanced at on someones plate looked like solid bar food if youre in need of that. And its right by McCarren Park. Theres a foosball table, and they play good music. The scene is 20 somethings -underemployed, early 30 somethings, a bit, but not obnoxiously, hipsterish. I cant think of what more youd possibly need to know about a place.

Decent sized bar with a back room which has a small stage and tiny bar for bands to play. Has a mechanic shop theme from it originally being a mechanic shop back in days of yore. Service is pretty tight. Gets quite crowded on weekends, though. Food is great. Love stopping by here when Im in the neighborhood but has been slowly attracting "those people" ever since it was featured on that show Girls. Still love going here regardless, though. Check it out if youre in the neighborhood.

We sat at a table with 3 boxes. We moved the boxes out of our way to sit at the tables 2 hours into our time we were interested in why the boxed were there. 2 were empty: and one was full of bread. When the server noticed we knew they kicked us out. I will never return. They even got the bouncer; Im sorry but I dont want your stale bread. And youre welcome for clearing your crowded table: I will never return.

Good selection or beers and cocktails, nothing fancy. Feels like a down-home dive-bar for punk kids, but has a mixed crowd. Young and old people from the neighborhood are there for happy hour, bands later at night tend to attract an edgier/younger group. Cool space indoors and out and definitely worth checking out for a solid happy hour near McCarren Park. Need to try the mac n cheese next time I stop in!

Went here to see a specific band at the Powepopaholic Festival. Have been here several times in the past and as always it is a spirited place with good energy, but was disappointed that the craft beer selection has become AB-INBEV "crafty beers". Sixpoint and other true NY beers have been replaced by Goose Island and other yellow water. Bring back the good beers.

My buddy runs the sound here so I drop by on occasion for support. The brunch menu is decent, although I think the Bloody Marys could use a little more kick to them. Pretty laid back bar next to McCarren Park so be ready for the infusion of Hipsters and the under / unemployed. Good place to grab a drink with friends, catch a show and be entertained.

Brunch is no joke. The menu will make you want to get everything. Draft selection is pretty good. Not beer snob good, but way better than average. Service speed is hit or miss for brunch, but comes with a smile. Weekend nights get rather packed, and getting a drink is kind of like playing twister to get to the bar.

food here is awesome, love the brunch, but I recall their kitchen getting really backed up the last time we were here and waiting a super long time for our food. it was delicious when it finally arrived. also, waitress seemed to have one too many responsibilities. maybe just overwhelmed from the kitchen backup?

We go here once a week for pretty much the same combo: buffalo wings, a matchless salad, and fries. Plenty of food for two people and its delicious. Wings havent been beaten yet. Decent draft beer selection and 2 for 1 Tuesdays are a plus. Heavy Metal karaoke on Wed.

One of the first bars I frequented after I started working in the area and its sill one of my favorites. The wings are great. The mac and cheese is actually some of the best Ive had anywhere. Nice selection of beers and always a good crowd!

Dive-y bar with a nice outside patio area and 2-for-1 happy hour. Beer selection is more macro than micro, with a couple surprises thrown in. Right across from the park, this place actually has some good people watching.

Great place to see small -- e.g. 20 person crowd -- local shows. Theyve also got an outdoor area for smokes and outdoor drinking, which is nice. Otherwise, kind of a watering hole, but thats a plus for me. Good stuff.

Love the vibe here! Good beer selection and music. They have a DJ come for special events. Theres only one bathroom though, so thats not fun. They have comedy shows in the back and theres a photo booth too.

Very cool joint, prices are fair, service is good and friendly, if you like punk music youll do well with their selection. Metal karaoke is awesome, but they recently went down to once a month only with it

Go for the wings. Some of the best buffalo wings in the city. Incredible Mac and cheese. Pro tip: add buffalo chicken to kick it up a notch. Great beer selection and chill vibe. Also a good brunch spot.

Pretty nice dive! Lots of people getting food so its probably good. They have a nice beer selection and I went during 2 for 1 on a Sunday and was a great deal. Nice out door area too with an overhang
