Coming from New York and having filtered out the great places there from the average - I was kind of scared having to take a shot in the dark by going to the closest Sushi place to me in DTLA open at night. Was I not dissapointed, the server was exceptionally friendly and kept coming over to check on me, almost to a fault. I went with the Chefs Dinner Special Sushi entree and everything was made to near perfection - Id recommend the meal and the place in a heartbeat, and will definately drop by here often myself. The prices are also very reasonable. The only complaint from my side was that when I was sitting on the bar counter, the chef behind the counter and the waitresses often talked over the bar loudly and consantly, distrupting the meal quite often. Its barely a reason to complain since the rest of the experience was overwhelmingly great. I guess it would be wise to avoid sitting on the bar counter if this happens more than often.

What We Ordered Happy Hour - Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice $4.95 - Gyoza $3.50 - House Roll $9.95 - Washington Roll $8.95 Regular Menu - Sashimi Roll Yelp Check In for $1 Small Hot Sake! But our server, Katie, hooked us up with a large though! Wooo. Thanks Katie :) Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice was good but, the rice got stuck on my teeth at times. If you order this, eat it first because the rice gets soggy when its cold. Gyoza is average. Cant really got wrong with it. I liked the crispy skin. The House Roll and Washington Roll were covered in too much sauce. It was hard to enjoy the seafood in it. :( My favorite was the Sashimi Roll. Its not on the Happy Hour menu but, its really refreshing out of all the rolls we had. I definitely will order it again and be back for the $1 Hot Sake with Check In. :)

Ive become a regular here since last year. Always great chefs and the place has amazing food. The happy hour is worth the wait ( during certain hours). Theres usually alot of people on weekends but I never wait more than 10-15 minutes IF theres a line. They are very good at moving and cleaning tables efficiently. Perfect for large crowds they have an upper level for parties. I recommend for all occasions

It amuses me that every Octopus has a different vibe. This one is a club that serves sushi. Octopus is a solid choice for affordable average freshness fish. They have a huge menu so you can get any roll you can possibly think of. My favorite specialty roll is the California Roll with Scallops. If you love deals, the secret is to sign up for their emails because they always send a monthly coupon!

Wow, Im so happy to find this place in DTLA. At 11 pm I was basically faced with spending $20 for a small entree meal. Found Octopus and their "reverse happy hour." I ended up with a large Asahi, calamari appetizer, and two rolls for $24. The calamari was good, the sensual pleasure roll was good, and the rose Roll alright. I also had an attentive server. Overall very happy.

I came here on a Saturday late night with some friends I ordered the {SPICY TUNA SALAD} which was really not even spicy. The food was okay but definitely had better. My friends ordered an assortment of sushi, some based on the waitresses recommendation. Be warned a lot of their specialty sushi rolls come in a pool of sauces which can make for some un appetizing sushi.

Good sushi but not great sushi. Service was a bit disorganized. All dishes - appetizers and main courses were all brought at the same time. Just felt rushed Good location in downtown. A bit too dark and in need of a refresh. Party of 5 seated upstairs, kind of felt banished. Good menu choices but dont be fooled by the all you can eat menu - too many restrictions

Quick service, good prices and friendly staff but I wasnt crazy about the food. Tofu salad which I had was basically lettuce with a bit of tomato, cucumber and tofu. They didnt even add any dressing on it. Spicy tuna was good, but "crispy rice" that came with it tasted like it was burned and was really greasy. I left disappointed

It may sound funny to you, but my favorite steak is their Teriyaki steak. I dont know what they are doing, but they make it exactly like i love it! Dont get me wrong, since i think that everything they make is delicious, but their Steak got me from the first time i tasted it, and that was long time ago...

This is now my favorite sushi in the neighborhood. The albacore sushi is reliably melt-in-your-mouth, and the salmon roll was really tasty. Service is pleasant, and the space feels very welcoming. Perfect for a relaxing lunch away from the office, easy transit access on the nearby corners.

Japanese fusion restaurant that gets a lot of things right: ambience, selection of items and the way many of the dishes are prepared. Unfortunately they seem to struggle with service: they might forget your order, bring out the wrong thing and neglect your table for long periods of time.

Decent food and hip atmosphere. Typically have to wait to get a table for lunch, and service can be slow most days. Best to arrive early or late for lunch, and plan on taking more than an hour. Too noisy and casual for most business lunches, best for work buddies and friends.

The one Long Beach is better. The management at the one in downtown LA is terrible. Did not have enough servers schedule to work. Unreasonable wait time. The server was great once I sat down. Disappointed in their limited happy hour menu, The one in Long Beach at more options.

Been coming here for years and never has it failed. All the meat is cook very well and i think each plate comes with a bowl of rice. Prices r very reasonable. My only complaint is the limited seating and cooking delay but in the end its worth it. 3 stars from me.

We love sushi. They have a HUGE assortment of different creative, fun, yummy rolls! HAPPY HOUR! EVERY DAY! 3-7 Everything is 50% off sushi and rolls. There well drinks are 3$ and beers i believe 2.75. This place is amazing. Everyone is very friendly as well!

I went during happy hour (starts at 8 pm I believe) so the items on the hh menu were half off. It was good but not the best Ive had obviously. I gave it a 4 star because of the prices and the quantity. We ordered a decent amount and satisfied our sushi craving.

This is my most favorite sushi restaurant in all of los angeles maybe even the world. The sushi here is the best youll ever taste I guarantee it. Nice very cold beer of draft or in bottle. Please try the crunchy salmon roll with a large Sapporo youll love it.

Waiter was good, but place was dirty! They sat us in a table that was dirty and the floor had used chop sticks and rice all over and they did the same to the ppl sitting next to us. Never again will we visit the downtown location. Glendale location is great!

I like that they have a valet parking lot across the street. The street parking on the restaurant side is also available and free after 6pm. I like their rolls, cocktails and I usually dont like rolls. This place is very carb free diet friendly. Love it!
