Friendly, welcoming atmosphere and quality food, prepared well. Top notch. The locally-sourced tomato salad was bursting with flavor, from the heirloom tomatoes and variety of olives to the fresh mozzarella curds and greens, all gently drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette. My husband, who only eats vegetables because he should, commented on how flavorful this salad was. His steak sandwich was awesome, as well. A very tender cut of steak, with crumbled blue cheese, grilled onions and peppers (not a green pepper to be found in the mix); served with a lightly-horseradished dressing on the side (which my husband slathered on), and tender pickled onion slivers (which he also utilized). Top notch. My crab cakes were also excellent, served with mixed greens and a fabulous chopped fresh tomato-pepper-zucchini blend. Well be back!

Pros: the artwork and appearance inside is very nice, there was soft music in the background, it wasnt busy Cons: fairly small menu, high prices, the customer service wasnt great for this visit Overall: For my 1st time going there, it was pretty good. Its a good place to go to for a date. The food quality was alright, but I was expecting more considering the prices. I ordered the "New York strip" to be well-done; it was perfectly cooked and had good flavor. The potatoes that came with it were good, but the green beans couldve been seasoned more/better. My date ordered 1 of the soups and the "Traditional Gnocchi". I cant remember the name of the soup, but it was delicious. He said the pasta was good, but hes had better.

Romantic, clean, and consistently good food. This is great spot in Ashland that does not receive the attention it deserves. Must try the their chowder and candied pecan chicken salad. Daily specials are wonderful. And they have a great selection of sandwiches that are often overlooked if your not wanting to spend too much money.

The Traditional Gnocchi was delicious, the sweetness in the Buttersquash Ravioli was not quite to our taste, but the New York Strip and Bistro Chowder were pretty decent. Theres also an op dude who plays a harp for the guests and his live music creates a nice classical atmosphere. This was a very unique dining experience, 4.5 / 5

Visited May 21, 2014 for dinner. My family and I have been in Ashland many times but have never eaten at the 2nd Street Bistro. We have been missing something! The 2nd St is very good. We had gnocchi, whitefish and a large spinach salad. We also tried a chowder and desert. All were very good. Service was good. Worth a visit.

Excellent; and underrated place. Passing through Ashland, the food was top notch at very decent prices, with a very passionate Chef. Waiters were efficient, friendly and helpful with the menu. I would definitely recommend stopping or checking this place out for lunch or dinner.

The regular menu is good but limited. The specials can be absolutely outstanding, NYC foodie good. Deserts are mostly home made and extraordinary. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is good. Live music on Friday evenings is mostly folk and jazz.

My friend and I had dinner there last Thursday night. I had the Salmon and she had the Walleye. OMG! We wanted to lick the plates! Very beautifully plated and absolutely delicious! WAY TO GO! Everybody needs to go there when in the area!

Not a very expansive menu and the ingredients were sub-par. The most disappointing part of the restaurant was the service-no one came to get us menus or water for over 10 minutes, and during the meal we were also neglected

Great food, great service and harp music. Our original dinner plans fell through and we are glad they did. The whole experience was awesome. And the menu had vegetarian options which was just the icing on the cake.

My beef was fantastic but the wifes gnocchi was out of this world. Service was great and the atmosphere was perfect.
