our experience at Irene was good. the food was good to great, but there was nothing to elevate it or make it stand out. it was all very well cooked and served at the right temperature, but it struck me as excellent family fare. what really ruined our experience was the service. everyone was friendly, but since no table was assigned a server, our requests fell through the cracks. all servers just did what was needed at any paticular time. it meant our food always arrived hot, but that was the only redeeming aspect. Although we were seated promptly, our second order of drinks had to be ordered twice (two different servers) and arrived shortly before we were ready to leave and no one returned until the appetizers were well gone before coming to take our dinner order. I felt the establishment could have functioned better had we gone to a counter to order our meal like at a teriyaki place. our servers didnt seem well equipped to handle a sit down restaurant style. but the food was tasty; just simple.

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in King county, and believe me, I have tried lots of them. Being a professional piano tuner, I travel to many different cities and have tried a host of Thai Restaurants all over the east side. Anyways, why do I like coming here? 1. Staff is friendly. They actually know how to treat customers nicely. One time i had to wait for a while for my order because it was busy, so the gentleman gave me a free bubble tea. Thats customer service. 2. This restaurant is clean. You can see your food being prepared on a nice stainless range. Dont even get me started about some of the gross things I have seen at some restaurants. If it is not clean outside, or when Im walking in... I WALK OUT. You dont even want to know how dirty some of them can be. So keep a restaurant clean, and customers will come. 3. The food is tasty, and flavorful. Fresh ingredients. I have been coming here since 2013. Same family staff. Nice people.

I really used to love this place. That is why I am especially disappointed that has now sadly changed! The old Irene had Thai food that tasted very authentic, with many dishes unusual to the US. When I commented this to the PRIOR owner, he explained that most Thai restaurants around here do not use authentic Thai ingredients, but less expensive alternatives. On my last trip back, I was surprised that all the unusual dishes were gone, and the menu now looked like any ordinary Thai restaurant. I asked the waitress (phenomenally rude person, but I will not say more about that as I am concentrating on the food) if there had been a change in ownership/management, and she confirmed there was. So, if you are expecting the old Irene Thai, it exists no more (I wish I knew where the old owners had gone). For bland, ordinary Thai food and poor service, this is your place!

I had a coupon to go here so we gave it a try and the customer service was horrible. The young guy working there said he was new but did not have enough smarts or care to ask the owners if they would accept the entertainment coupon ( I called ahead of time). I had to tell him to go ask. At this point I would not have gone in if it wasn’t for the discount. After we got there I thought things would be a little better but the same young man who answered our call was completely unfriendly and did not check on our table enough. We had to get up and ask for a fork. The food was good but I cant get over the really awful service. I wont be back anytime soon. There are plenty of good Thai places with great service.

I was so excited to check out this place since it had a very good review. My partner and I tried tom yum soup, khao soi with beef, yum woon sen, and beef salad. Unfortunately this place is such a disappoinment. The food here is 100% NOT authentic. I had lived in Bangkok for more than 4 years and I cant find anywhere ( street food or fine dining) make the food like this restaurant. In my opinion, If you want Chinese food with Thai infusion then this is exactly the place you should go for. If I could get rid of the idea " this is Thai food", I would definitely enjoy the food here. The food here isnt bad, but its not Thai food at all.

Ive been going to Irene Family Thai for a few months now and havent found a bad dish. Unlike some places, their sauces for different dishes actually have different flavors. The cup of soup that comes with their lunch dishes tends to be relatively simple broths with fresh vegetables and herbs, a very nice start to the meal. Several folks that Ive been there with have particularly enjoyed the Spicy Eggplant and Ramma Noodles. Im particularly partial to their green curry, Phad Woonsen and, lately, their curry fried rice (the yellow curry spices and cashews are a wonderful combination in the dish).

I came here for lunch with my toddler today and the staff was warm and accommodating and the food was fantastic. I placed a to-go order and then asked for a small dish of rice for my son to eat while we waited for our order. The waitress put the rice on a kids plate with toddler-size utensils, which was a small, kind detail that I definitely noticed. Long story short, we ended up just staying there to eat lunch instead of taking it to-go and the waitress was very accommodating. Not to mention, the food was excellent.

Ordered Curry entree and all I got was a small container with curry, no rice. It was $10. I called saying they forgot the rice, he said it doesnt come with any. Really?? What Thai restaurant doesnt include rice with curry? First time customer, they could have cared less. Didnt suggest or offer anything to make it right. Also the food was petty disappointing. Very bland. No utensils, napkins, plates, or anything. What a penny pitching establishment, could you be any cheaper?

I ordered 2 orders of chicken phad thai to go and they had it ready when I got there. Took one bite before driving home and realized that was a mistake, because the rest of the drive home consisted of me drooling over the food until I tore it open halfway home and ate it with my fingers- a first for me. Hiding in the parking lot by Banner Bank, this humble restaurant is truly a hidden treasure. (Totally planned my review on the way home and wrote it as I was eating:)

Our favorite Thai place in the area. Weve never had a bad dish. Our favorite Crab Delight. The Crying Tiger is an excellent appetizer. Weve loved all the curries and noodle dishes. Priced reasonably, casual environment, friendly staff. Unless we are specifically looking to try a new place or we are grabbing a quick takeout at a closer place, this is where we ALWAYS choose to eat Thai.

The new asian guy look very clueless. I cannot believe we order over $100 of food and we did not get any free steam rice. They need to offer at least free steam rice. Ordered the chicken wings and it was still cold. Terrible service. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Terrible Terrible!! The only thing was good was the Pad thai beef.
